Liked the new video idea! It's a good balance between educational, entertaining, and chill conversation. Watching combo videos, pro matches, funny edits, etc. is great and all but it's nice to mix it up with refreshing ideas.
Lord knight ranked players that definitely weren't good pretty high and really clean good people pretty low. What's the logic lol. Still really good video. I'd love to see all of them come back and do a second video like this. This was an amazing idea. Keep up the good work globku!
The main reason they don’t get it is because they’re so high level that things that should be considered impressive are just normal to them. As someone who plays at more of a medium rank (currently Demon) I can tell you instantly some major differences between certain rank groupings. For example: anything below super sayian 2 is likely to be auto-combo (though of course you may find that higher too but it’s way more rare) Ssj2 and especially supreme kai is where people start focusing mostly on bread and butter stuff like 2m starter leading to a jump extension but...and here’s what the pros wouldn’t realize...you’ll never see someone that low actually chaining together combos with assists or even doing things like catching wall bounces off their EX attacks. (Ps: the thing about assists is referring to normal assists, and not C-assists. Of course anyone can pick up off a C-assists) While I haven’t gotten there yet, based off playing some people in casuals, I think it’s around maijin, if not slightly above that you’ll start seeing people using the assists in their combos more, and probably higher than that before people catch wall bounces (especially outside of the corner) I, for example, use the thumb stick mostly and therefore can’t dash for shit which is why I can’t pick up a wall bounce unless it’s actually in the corner. I’m hoping to fix that but at least I can recognize what the problem is. I doubt a pro would understand all this because to them wall bounces and optimizing with assists is probably considered as normal as the BNB to them at this point.
Me: looking at all these players that I can confidently say would body me Kuba: “*It’s clear they’re competent, seems they kinda know what they’re doing*” Me: *intense sweating*
01:26 LOOK AT MEEEEEEEE!!!!!! but I gotta ask, WHY YOU PICK THE WORST MATCH!!?? Whatever I'm happy to have helped with the making of this, even if all it was was sending a match in.
Ranked definitely isn't the measure of your total skill, but this video is evidence that there is a difference between the ranks and player habits and player skill.
This is such a good content Globku! This could be a new way to teach people about the mechanics, techs that they suppose to know/ applied in their rank to improve their gameplay to be at a higher level. Rank matches are really subjective as it depends whether someone is grinding it or not, some people plays better although they are in lower ranks due to them keep playing on casuals and rarely goes to rank. I hope you can find another pro players to do the continuation of this series to hear more of their thoughts
For me, ranked is a personal challenge. It's like a visual guide to tell me that I'm getting better at the game. Honestly with better netcode, ranked would matter more in terms of skill level (still online so unknown issues would occur) like you wouldn't lose so much to randomness or buttons not coming out in theory. Rank matters to some as a visual guide and also as a base for skill level but I do agree with the pros, it's definitely a stepping stone
I’m Majin myself, I keep dropping back to SS3 then moving back up to Majin and have never been higher than that. Ranked is nice to “ensure” you’re playing against someone with approximative the same level as yourself, but it still sometimes feels super random. I sometimes body people with SS God ranks, but then get bodied myself against Demon ranked players... go figure. In any case, I still have to practice a lot to get better. I honestly don’t care if I lose, I would never ever ragequit just to preserve my points, I feel like every game I lost, if analyzed properly post combat, made me stronger.
Yeah, i can see this becoming a series, Like i *really* can, Considering the potential these types of videos can have i'd suggest at some point having the more notable fighterz tubers guess ranks as well, It would be funny seeing someone like Lotus compare to someone like lord knight. But for now i wouldn't mind another set of pro's for the next video. :)
I think rank is just a fun way to track my progress. I’m Living Legend but I feel like I’m a lot better than most in my rank. I think W/L kinda shows more of your skill level a bit better but that’s also kinda shaky too
I'd really love to see you deal/mingle with pros more because you are one of those few players with the potential to really ascend to near their level, and you certainly seem committed to playing the game the right way. I think if you want to take that next step this would be the way, similar to how LotusAsakura has been putting in the time to practice with players like Cloud805 and LordKnight and has steadily gotten much better. It's also great for the recognition of course, although your channel focuses on a broader selection of games so I'm not sure you are comfortable with having an influx of DBFZ fans.
So i definitely agree that they are a good starting point. Unfortunately, and its something you can't change, the issue as well is character choice and how some characters are very popular but also push down "high skill level" play because their combos are easier to confirm, and yeild more damage, as well as some moves just being more difficult to block or require a specific technique to dodge or use the move. Smash has this problem in spades because alot of characters have special moves that are easy confirms such as Nes PK Fire, until you learn you can SDI, or mash your movement stick to get out of it easier, the nes will keep using the move and go up until the majority of players know those techniques. UI's simple combo structure, that makes it easy to confirm off assists or Broly's super armor/ speedy armored Grabs really show this off. I think they do wonders to say techniques people need to know to get to that point because you will eventually hit a wall of people using these same things against you.
I really enjoyed this video. I got to test my own knowledge and perception of the game with this, I managed to get almost all of them right, or get very close, (I had about the same answers as Damascus). That was really awesome, thanks. Edit: Also, in my experience I think the rank actually does matter in this game. Just from this experiment too, you could clearly see when someone was Majin, compared to something like Super Saiyan Rose (with the exception of the last video, that one was actually a difficult one, those were some good Rose players). I feel like this game's ranked system is pretty decent on terms of scaling ability. It places you almost exactly where you should be, is what it seems. I don't think this is *always* the case, but most of the time, it does seem that way. Some people play this game casually and don't really take the game seriously, because of this I've seen low ranking players better than Rose or higher, on PC. It's pretty insane to see. One player was capable of blocking everything I threw at him, but didn't know combos. I'd say he was capable of beating high ranking players even though he was brand new, but may lose until he learns to combo.
I only play on PC, so I really wasn't expecting the rank of some of these PS4 players. I only got the last one right, I felt like it matched the experience I've had with PC ranks and player skill level.

Ranking in these games generally reflects how many games you have played, supposing you are not just bad, usually if you keep playing a lot you will just climb the ranks. More experience does generally mean more skill, but of course there can be amazing players who don't bother with a lot of ranked. So I would say a high rank means something but a low rank doesn't really mean anything until you see the player and how they actually play.
I have played a lot of hours on pc before I got a Playstation, I am now SSG rank on both, but the first thing I realized on ps, is that ranks don't mean anything. I was unfortunate enough to be matched up with some zeno ranks, that honestly, didn't feel that scary to me. They still won, but it wasn't like that perfected me or that in no way did I have any idea what was happening. I could keep up to a degree. So yeah
I think rank means very little. I personally have clocked in so much time into the game through practice, casual fights and honestly just playing AI. Your skill shows in gameplay and not what rank you are. I've seen purple threat levels below Majin. I've seen yellow players above Majin. All comes down to how you handle situations in game
