Moving to the Asia Federation has helped NZ *hugely*, playing the likes of Korea, Jordan, Japan, China.
Both teams had tall players but they can move fast so nice to watch.

@lol qkloyv Rui didn't play but Yuta did. Steve Adams never once played for the national team. Even then I liked the quality of the game as it is. Korea also had two young NBA prospects missing but the team performed well without them. I get your point but I am glad young and less established players got the chance to play for their national team!

Agree for Australia - NZ was beaten a few days ago though, which means it fits Asian continent upper level teams category. Australia is a much higher level which makes the asia cup winner kinda known in advance
Well Australia is ranked 3rd in the world, but new zealand is on the asian level, they got beaten by 14 points margins just few days ago by Lebanon.
@@Jo24689 Lebanon almost lost to China and Jordan. China was soundly beaten by South Korea, South Korea was convincingly beaten by NZ, Jordan also lost to Australia by a big margin. NZ is a young team, it gets better and better every game. They are now in another level, if they play Lebanon again in the bronze medal game, Lebanon is more likely to lose than win again.

Sooo where should Aus and NZ play if they aren't "asian" countries? Have them dominate Oceania every year and qualify for FIBA and Olympics without even competing teams anywhere near their level? Ignore geography and move them to European qualifiers? Why not uproot USA while we're going so the other America's teams have a chance? FIBA grouping will never be perfect but isn't the goal to have the world's best teams compete on the biggest stage?
