Hi Mr. Alpert!
I saw your name on here and I got so excited! I'm a trumpet player, and I wrote you a letter about 10 years ago when I was in fifth grade, and you responded by sending me an autographed picture of yourself. I just figured, if you're here, that I'd take a quick moment to thank you for that. You've always been my hero, and I still have the picture hanging up in my bedroom back home. Again, I just wanted to say thanks. You really kept me inspired to keep playing my horn.
Thank you sir for "Rise". That was my jam at 9 years old!!! LOL

Herb, you should be front and center. Herb, it was you who motivated me to learn to play the trumpet in the mid-60's. There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be as popular as you were in the 60's. If Tony Bennett can make a huge comeback, to a whole new generation of listeners, so can you. You are well on your way with your new albums and public appearances. I do wish you all the best. As long as there is breath in your lungs -- keep playing that trumpet! Let's make Herb Alpert, who is alive and well, a household name once again with his positive music. 😊 ♫

I bought my first Herb Alpert record in 1967 when I was 8 years old and I still have my whole collection.
Herb is right about the weird times we've somehow sunken into the depths of. Good music has a way of diverting the mind to a better place & we need it now!

Saw Herb Alpert in Cerritos, California two weeks ago and he played his trumpet for 2 hours at age 88! Great artist!

Always fantastic !! Humble, Down to earth, Class act guy (met him a couple of times at MSU & in Chicago) ... He is by far the most Underrated Jazz/Pop musician (not a bad artist either) ... Also, when in LA I always try to make to VIBRATO, his quaint Jazz dinner club ... Great food, Great music !!!!

Herb is a legend in music on all fronts. He is the "A" in A&M Records if you remember that label. Of course, my fave track of his...Rise. But also his vocal effort, yes he did sing, "This Guy's in love with you." And thank you Jimmy for the title of that classic piece of instrumental gold Route 101.

Here's why there will never be another Johnny Carson. Carson always allowed the guests to shine. Had Herb been sitting in with Doc, the camera would have been on Herb, not on Johnny. Here we see Fallon goofing around when the attention should have been on Alpert. That is true of all of the late night hosts since Carson retired.

He broke it up around 1970, returned with it for a few years in the 70's, and once in the mid 80's. However, lots of great solo albums since the seventies. Seems to be releasing more lately, as he said somewhere, his time is almost up.
