Very interesting. I do like thinking about these "what ifs", like what if Nya was the Green Ninja and Lloyd took on the mantel of Samurai X, I think that could be cool too. Then maybe have Pixal be able to harness Water and become the new Water Ninja, as she has half of Zane's heart which holds half of his elemental power. But your story line here for Kai and Lloyd would be awesome and really deepen their brotherly bond.

I think making lloyd the green ninja makes sense, it just needs better writing. None of the main 4 ninja and nya had qualities that matched what the green ninja was supposed to be and more qualities that make them better as single characters Kai is selfish, cocky, arrogant Jay is comical, unfocused, cowardly Cole is sort of lazy, gluttonous, fearful and unsure(fear of dragons, snakes, and the triple tiger sashay) And zane is zane
Although I do think it is interesting to hypothesize about how different the series would’ve been if Kai was the green ninja (don’t get me wrong I love these kind of topics) I do think it was best that Lloyd became the green ninja. Not only does Lloyd have a personal connection to Garmadon that makes things more dramatic, but it also allows the four original ninja to remain on equal playing field’s. Not to mention having Kai be the green ninja would’ve been far too predictable in my opinion even if I do think he is a great character. Having Lloyd be hidden in plain sight but have us never even consider that he could be the green ninja was a pretty clever twist, but it becomes glaringly obvious upon re-watches, especially with that green number five on his shirt.

This could’ve actually happened because elements can be passed to whoever. That’s how Zane got his powers. So technically Kai could’ve given Lloyd his fire power and kept the energy power

It would be interesting to see how everything would turn out, y'know if one of them became evil or not (but that would be highly unlikely because destiny wouldn't choose someone who would do evil things with such power, I believe destiny would know but that probably isn't the case) either way, it would be interesting and I would love it nonetheless.
Personally this is what I would’ve done for episode 10 if I was going to make KAI the green ninja: Have the episode play out more or less the same, including Kai saving Lloyd, but this act of heroism is what deems him worthy of being the green ninja, unlike in the actual canon where he excepted that he will never be the green ninja but he can still protect others, including the true chosen one.

In my opinion things would go differently. I think adding in a bit of darkness can make it more interesting. Instead of Kai reaching his true potential in the cave by saving Lloyd, he instead saves the fang blade and Lloyd dies in the volcano (Rip my favorite character) Then because destiny cannot choose Lloyd, they choose Kai as the green ninja. Kai kind of feels responsible for Lloyd’s death but garmadon blames Kai. After destroying the great devourer, instead of trying to stop Lloyd’s training to become the green ninja garmadon desperately tries to kill Kai to no avail, both characters feel immense anger so on the dark island the final battle happens and Kai kills garmadon because they have no father son relationship like Lloyd did. Then the only thing the overlord can metamorphosize into is the green ninja himself, Kai becomes the evil green ninja and the darkness wins destroying this alternate universe similarly to the doctor strange episode of what if.

I would say that the final battle would never happen, because the overlord wouldnt have a vessel, because kai isnt garmadons son, he would have taken the shot and killed garmadon, but then there would be two problems, lloyd rebelling out of anger, and becoming like he was in season 1, evil, hating the ninja for killing his dad, which that probably wouldnt happen, but I think a more real scenario would be that lloyd stops kai from ending garmadon.
