Well analyzed and said. I am a naturalized Singaporean, a retiree so to speak, but in fact I am a private investor. Economics 101 talks about comparative advantages, both JB and SG have their own advantages, and if they join efforts then they are better off. I have residences in both places, and when I spend, the income are in fact all coming from overseas, that is outside both JB and SG, and thuis I see my contributions to the economies in these two places. RTS has been one of the factor for me, I do not see my residence in JB as an investment at all, but just an enjoyment. And without any man made barrier, you may see both JB and SG as a BIg Bay Area, and thus good for both. Thumbs up for the RTS.
I find it quite funny that singaporean who has place to stay in JB, will less likely to moan that JB is dangerous. The people around you are car-less and have to work every day in Singapore... so it's not surprising that they say the grapes are sour. The expats around me, who work in Singapore, only work a few days a week and often work from home... When I asked them why they don't live in Singapore, they laughed and said they weren't stupid. Why squeeze into Singapore when they can have a better quality of life elsewhere? Safety? Their home countries are more dangerous than Malaysia, and they can't understand why Singaporeans say Johor Bahru is dangerous... @@神-n6b Even Malaysians know JB is not a safe place. The crimes are being circulated by local newspapers for decades. I am also from Johor (not JB), since young I have been reading local news about the robbery cases in JB, and how innocent people getting injured, or even killed by those robbers riding motobikes pulling their handbags, etc. And how those houses getting stolen, especially during covid period. Apart from that there're other criminal cases like gang fights, kidnapping etc. Please bear in mind that people do read and watch news. To give you an inappropriate and extreme example, if I ask you which country has highest rape rate, I am sure you have your answer in your mind. And I bet you have never been to that country in your whole life to experience it firsthand. So instead of stereotyping or bias, etc, it's more of statistics. Again, I'm not trying to say anything negative about JB (I'm still a proud Johorean), just wanted to tell you that you really don't have to convince anyone that JB is safe.

In so far as RTS, don't count on it. When passenger volumes reach a critical level in the direction from JB to SG, it will deprive the users down streams. I anticipate MRT will have to regulate the number of passengers aboard JB and frequency.
For those who been staying in Jb while working in spore ..RTS will really bring a huge changes in lifestyle and quality of life . Plp used to wake up early 4-5am to take buses or bike in to work or study ,,But now with RTS . we can have more option and travel in out with train with no jam or under the hot sun or rain . after a tiring day work can comfort squeeze in Mrt and ride bck to johor . and for sure with the Rts in service .some local will willing to travel out to spent more no need drive car stuck in jam Or even rent a house in JB with more spacious and lower cost . definately a win win for those been cross border msian and sporean that travel in out often . 姓陈的演员就是马来西亚人。他的女儿本来回马来西亚读公立小学本来就是免费的，但他选择国际学校，无奈新加坡国际学校比马来西亚国际学校贵3倍，也只好选择回马来西亚。我再说一次，新加坡的基本生活费其实比马来西亚便宜，只是兑换率的问题，才觉的马来西亚物价便宜，別忘了这姓陈的马来西亚人是賺新币花马币。
对极了，那里的基本生活费便宜过马国。不说别的。单单是啤酒，那里的才七块左右。这里都快二十块。不是说exchange rate...是物价。还有就是快熟面和罐头食品。。。

老哥认为新闻报道明显夸大很多，近年来是有多一些新加坡人有这个打算甚至已经有所行动了，但整体来说还是非常少数。这群人当中大多应该是已经入籍新加坡的前大马人和中国人等等，真正道地的新加坡人会这么做的多属于中低甚至低收入人群，当中肯定也有新加坡的永居会这么做。无论如何值得担心的是新山的物价的飙升，那些赚马币的新山当地人就会叫苦连天苦不堪言。

@@KWs5329 你说得没错，所以只有极少数人会这么做。偶尔听过一两对老夫妇把在新加坡的房子租出去，安家在新山省生活费。有些则是购买新山的公寓出租为airbnb，没人租时就当作周末的度假屋。

我有一个朋友廿十多年,退修就般到那了。有一个马来人.五十多.就退修般到那十多年了.基本上,他们太聪明了.數以斤斤计较的底等收入者算盤打得不够响.
其实在星加坡会便宜些.政府有各种津
贴.
分析得过于乐观了。大家都还没有考虑清楚实际情况。而实际情况是什么？每天有35万人从新山过去新加坡做工，塞车塞到很够力。只有工作时间比较flexible的新加坡居民(比如陈姓演员)才会尝试(什么时候放弃不知道)全家人搬去新山，因为他可以选择在非塞车高峰期才出发去新加坡开工。而绝大多数的人的工作时间都是相似的，都是朝九晚五，根本避不了两新之间通道的高峰期。至于RTS呢我认为它将来的作用被严重高估了。RTS已知的最高运载量是每小时1万人。可是人们上班的时间就是早上那两三个小时的窗口。等于说RTS在上班时间顶多只能运送3万人过去新加坡。不到35万人的十分之一。这能大量的降低塞车的程度吗？显然是不能的。

新加坡人搬去新山住最多也是10%,原装的新加坡人很多人还可以付得起高生活费。因为低薪工人工作8小时至少也有$1800新币。。
在新加坡洗碗也可以去日本度假
底薪的政府每个月另有补贴，小贩中心很多摊位都设有 3 元左右的食物让有需要的食用，在新加坡生活不是如此的高消费。
你講話的思想很簡單， 交工基金要PR才可以交. 你以為馬來西亞人才交所得稅， 新加坡人也是要交所得稅。 我是新加坡公民政府給我們很多補助。 我住在新加坡很快樂， 又安全又方便。 不要拿國家來比較自己顧好自己就好。

I mean if many singaporean who come and stay in JB say JB is danger, i think many johorean will take it seriously. The problem is, many commentators here has no chance to stay in JB and straight away say "danger"... how did they come out with such experience? do such comment even worth taking seriously?

@@神-n6b Even Malaysians know JB is not a safe place. The crimes are being circulated by local newspapers for decades. I am also from Johor (not JB), since young I have been reading local news about the robbery cases in JB, and how innocent people getting injured, or even killed by those robbers riding motobikes pulling their handbags, etc. And how those houses getting stolen, especially during covid period. Apart from that there're other criminal cases like gang fights, kidnapping etc. Please bear in mind that people do read and watch news. To give you an inappropriate and extreme example, if I ask you which country has highest rape rate, I am sure you have your answer in your mind. And I bet you have never been to that country in your whole life to experience it firsthand. So instead of stereotyping or bias, etc, it's more of statistics. Again, I'm not trying to say anything negative about JB (I'm still a proud Johorean), just wanted to tell you that you really don't have to convince anyone that JB is safe.

Staying in Singapore cost of living is high. Malaysians like to come to Singapore to work because the salary is good n high too 3X more. 每个人都太高估RTS可以带来的经济效益了。地铁一个小时最多最多只可以运送一万人，扣掉地铁维护时间一天最多可以载8万人。你要知道在大日子关卡一天有超过50万人入境新山。所以还是有40多万人无法挤入地铁。
50k 其中包括旅游巴士、公共巴士, 货车和私家车。这也必须考虑。每天上午 6 点至晚上 11 点, 17小时的RTS可以运出17万人次，而堤道可以让公交车和其他私家能车交通畅通

In so far as RTS, don't count on it. When passenger volumes reach a critical level in the direction from JB to SG, it will deprive the users down streams. I anticipate MRT will have to regulate the number of passengers aboard JB and frequency.

For those who been staying in Jb while working in spore ..RTS will really bring a huge changes in lifestyle and quality of life . Plp used to wake up early 4-5am to take buses or bike in to work or study ,,But now with RTS . we can have more option and travel in out with train with no jam or under the hot sun or rain . after a tiring day work can comfort squeeze in Mrt and ride bck to johor . and for sure with the Rts in service .some local will willing to travel out to spent more no need drive car stuck in jam Or even rent a house in JB with more spacious and lower cost . definately a win win for those been cross border msian and sporean that travel in out often . Looking foward 2026

我住在新山市中心，时常都会经过进新加坡的路段，每个拜五，拜六礼拜或假期都特别可怕，非常的塞车，而且每次进新加坡的其中有一段路都会塞着，阻碍了我们本地车想要去别边的路段，每次星期天都是回去的时候，我看到晚上接近11点了还在塞。
