      some say I'm hating but sniping is useful u can get someone without making it obvious were u are and pop a couple peeps on ur opposing team off the battle field. It's so easy to hit someone without getting noticed but wen ur using an AR u will be noticed straight away just take this into consideration and read. Please Like thanks.but Carl everything u said was honest and I understand were ur coming from.

      You don't hate Snipers... they literally give you extra range that you couldn't have otherwise. You hate campers/hiders like novritsch. He's a bitch and gets joy out of shooting ppl that don't know they're fighting him. He's a pussy. I get it. But if you're not using a sniper and your field is a good size, you're puting yourself at a huge disadvantage. "they're hard for beginners to use" isnt even a logical argument, they're literally point and shoot. I was using one at 15 with ease. Don't be a typical "only here to play dress up AEG Cult member who thinks Spray and pray is the answer on bigger fields" its just not logical. Go play paintball if that's how you get off

    The reason the sniper role doesn't work in regular airsoft play, is because the sheer volume of bbs being shot toward you. People being allowed 300 round mags encourages overshooting and feathering. The game has become how much i can shoot as opposed to accuracy and precision. Take away the hi capacity mags for 30 round mags and you'll see a MASSIVE difference

      Amen brother!! thats why I bought a PDW to cover my exit if im exposed. I got tired of being peppered with bbs once someone realized where the shot came from and only having a pistol to cover me. About the only thing you can do otherwise is put your head down cover your head with your hands and shout "HIT" after the bbs have stopped flying and everyone accuses you of not calling your hits because you're too busy covering up from the plastic overshoot storm and waiting for it to pass.

      The thing is that that’s what makes the sniper role better, the fact is that if just one shot is shot at you, even if it misses you don’t know where the sniper is, and if it hits, you still won’t know where you got shot from because the sniper won’t reveal his position.

    As somebody who solely plays as a sniper, I have to say: the way most people play Sniper indeed is quite useless, however, I generally play more around gathering Intel and relaying enemy positions to my team rather than taking a lot of kills.
    Yea, I do make a pick whenever I have the chance, but again, for me it's more about playing for intel...

    just a sniper tip for anyone that may be scrolling, you dont always have to run away while being shot at or engaging someone. knowing the difference of when to stay completely still or ducking down helps sooo much. no jerking movements. just calm, smooth, steady.
    i love messing with someones head, if a branch gets in the way of a bb and throws it off just enough, and having them question their brain and eyes, and being able to audibly hear them go insane, is so satisfying.

  • @mincenta9515
    @mincenta9515 6 років тому +33

    Snipers aren't entirely bad. He makes it seem like it's impossible to get a kill or two in a pick up game. In actuality, your gun will outperform most aegs distance wise. If you have the right cover with the right angle, you'll be just fine. Most aegs won't be able to pick you off from long distances so you can take your time to get the perfect shot. And of course, snipers aren't dumb enough to bring a sniper rifle in a CQB arena, unless they're skilled enough to find that sweet spot.

  • @xoawolf
    @xoawolf 6 років тому +39

    I agree with you on the points you made, they pretty much all make sense. What I don't agree with you on is that snipers are useless. I think you downplayed their potential and role alot, especially at the beginning. Which is odd considering that the points you made yourself counter that beginning statement.
    Intelligence is one of the most important assets one could have in a combat scenario, and as you pointed out, that is precisely what a sniper is capable of. But they are also effective at taking out key targets that other units might not be able to (again a point you made).
    I think what you were ACTUALLY trying to say is that they aren't this crazy badass murdering machine that can tear through legions of people all on their own. Snipers, just like any other asset are a tool. If I needed to pound in a bunch of nails, does that mean that my hammer is superior to my screw driver? No, it's just better suited for that task, just use the right tool for the right job, and even then you can sometimes will things to work anyways alot of times. And at the end it's a game/hobby, I say go ham to whoever wants to play however.

    • @jlcurtis94
      @jlcurtis94 6 років тому +3

      i believe what he meant it as, was that the way alot of snipers play is completely useless( ie setting way back trying to just lob shots to hit enemies), if they play the role, they are far from useless. when they sneak around a flank, pass lintel and shoot enemies from different angles then the "assault guys" to cause confusion and create openings for your team to push up.

    • @xoawolf
      @xoawolf 6 років тому +5

      @HelpMe Not exactly true. Sniper rifles (I mean the gun very deliberately here) are allowed to have far higher joule limits than traditional rifles. And because of this, it allows them to increase their effective range beyond that of the average "rifleman". Is it by a incredibly large amount? No. Is it enough to make a difference? Yes.
      And while I don't deny the "little M4" could be upgraded to perform just as well, if not better, rules prevent those rifles from overshadowing a sniper rifle, which allows for more diverse game play.

      Works anywhere besides cqb
      Doesnt break down to bad

    This isn't inaccurate, you just have to manage your expectations. I love airsoft sniping. Had plenty of times where I was literally feet from enemies moving around in the brush. You just have to understand that you might spend the whole match sneaking and only get a few hits. But man, when you do get in just the right spot with a quiet enough rifle, it's extremely satisfying to be able to take out even a few targets without them having a clue you're there.

  • @ghostalpha2886
    @ghostalpha2886 6 років тому +1

    Let's break stuff down here:
    >Sniper rifles don't suck, nor are they OP as I've seen some say - Regardless of performance and components/parts used, it is really up to the user/operator to make the rifle good.
    >Aggressive snipers can be bad or they can be useful, dependent on whether they're useful on fending off incoming enemies or if they can't hit the side of a barn with a handful of gravel.
    >Snipers sitting at the back of the map/close to their spawn can be useless or useful - If they can give short callouts/updates on where enemies may be further down the field, then they're already proving their worth as a recon player. Other times they can be useless because they may not be fending off or providing any means of cutting off/intimidating enemies from going down a certain route.
    >A sniper in the sense of airsoft is overrated - You don't have anything close to the realistic ranges that a real sniper can make use of plus there's so many airsoft gameplays on UA-cam which mostly only show highlights/combat footage instead of the whole process. Not saying that the sniper role is bad to play as, because I've played it numerous times and it makes for a better experience at times as opposed to sprinting halfway/three quarters of the way up the field to risk getting shot by the other team's sniper(s), but some will find sniping to not always have the action packed scenario where you zero in on a bunch of enemies and take them all out. Whilst that would be great, unfortunately it only rarely happens that you can nail all of them. The second one of their guys call hit when they're clustered, unless you're playing against a load of idiots, the non-hit players in the enemy group/squad will disperse and/or hide away, meaning that at a stretch you could really only get two kills per ambush maximum providing they haven't stayed clustered after the first target is hit.
    >Snipers can be a nuisance (when they're on your team) if you have snipers that are far too triggerhappy and keep taking pot shots at enemies. Numerous times this has happened where I sneak up on enemies, only for them to be alerted at sniper-fire because the snipers on my team can see them, but they can't hit the targets for toffee. So yet again the enemies disperse or they hide away from the snipers' view.
    >Snipers can however be in-game lifesavers, but this does require constant communication and good teamwork for them to move up and down the field almost in sync with regular assault players - If they move too far up field, they could be picked off by enemy snipers or even regular enemy players, and if they don't move at all up the field towards the frontline, they will not be able to support you as effectively if they were at a reasonable distance to provide sniper support for you, also means if you need to retreat or fallback, the snipers on your team really can't do much at all unless enemies in pursuit get within your snipers' effective range(s).
    Long story short: Snipers aren't entirely bad or good, but they're sure as hell overrated and misunderstood (for better and for worse) in the airsoft world.

  • @HellSpawn8484

    In Sweden it is a bit different. We don't have the same fps limit here on bolt guns witch let up build guns that out range any full auto guns. Because of that I don't use a ghille and I move around too much to make good use of it.

    • @orangeairsoft7292

      Sadly in Ireland we have a limit on ALL airsoft guns to be at only 1 joule, (328 fps) which for sniping especially means that range is terrible for what a sniper should be. Everyone just buys an AEG because of it and not really very diverse in terms of gun selection because of it :(

    I have never used video games and movies for my tactics, I've been doing this for 5 years now, I've read ww2 German training books and seen films for sharpshooters, I'm a hunter, a recon-sharpshooter, I like to stay hidden for hours at a time, I use a radio and I'm now training my brother as a marksman so that we can work as a team
    My tips for people is that movement is you biggest giveaway, if you don't know how to move your going to be seen, and shadows are your best friend, you need to be able to see the 3d shapes of shadows so that you can stay in them, train yourself to contour to object like fallen over logs, hide your face and lay on your gun, stay hidden and listen, I've had so many people just walk by me doing this, only for me to radio to other people that enemies were flanking, than taking out a couple, my friend nearly stepped on my once in a private game
    And yes I started by saying screw you, and stuff like that, perhaps you should stop with the hate magnet right off that bat and say what point that you want to make ahead of time

  • @scarecrowx393x3

    Snipers if built right can be extremely effective. A good sniper can hole a rather large area better. They generally sound quieter when shooting so flanking is easier. Snipers can make people not want to move from cover so the aegs can push up.

    Tbh if you want to get a range advantage than you have to spend like $300 at least tm vsr 10 and a 500 fps spring in it so if you have the money you can get a 80-120 ft range advantage which is ok but accuracy will always show but other than that if you want any type of advantage you pretty much have to be willing to spend a lot of money.

Honestly my two pistols TM MK23 and Cyma CM131 (AEP), which both are upgraded, are in use more during my fire fights. I cannot express enough how important your secondaries are and understanding their place. One of mine is fully automatic, the other is dead quiet and long range. You are not designed to take on everyone alone but if you build a front on one side then as they attack you start picking them off as they are attacking your team, that to me is the biggest rush.... Stealth, team planning, and timing.

    If you do it right, you can actually be highly effective and also good at getting intel or achieving missions. I have played for over decade, most of that as a sniper/DMR. I don’t wear a ghillie most of the time.. usually I am hanging out with my squad and giving support where I can. It is often very easy to pick players off at milsim games in this format. They usually are focusing on the aggressive members of your squad and allow you to post up on them. It’s also incredibly easy to set up watching a door or a high traffic area and lock it down. After you hit a person, the players behind them usually become less eager to step out from behind cover… this helps with control of the field. I have a bar10 that has had basically every part upgraded (Teflon cylinder, zero trigger, mancraft hpa conversion, etc.. etc..) it shoots extremely accurate groups at 75 yards and will go well beyond that. I have eliminated entire squads shooting a magazine or two. In recent years I’ve ran a P* FE SVD and same thing… I will admit the added rate of fire has its benefits, but I usually hit people shooting delayed shots so they don’t see a line of BBs headed their way.
    There have been many times I would go on a flanking run and come across an objective… complete it and keep moving.
    I started playing sniper because it was a challenge, but I quickly realized I was best suited to play that role on my squad. Over a decade later it still seems quite effective for us. I thoroughly enjoy seeing players reactions to getting hit by that single BB from a distance as well… never gets old.

      you make a good point. And is mostly the reason that people use them, theyre quiet and if you do it right you can take a shot and go undiscovered. But those are ideal conditions: open line of site, no wind, adequate cover, and position. Alternatively I think once theyve been hit with a .40+ gram bb it teaches you to be more aware of who and what is going on around you. Snipers and HPA's are my primary targets in the game with HPA's being first on the list..mostly because we have a lot of cheaters around here that use them.

I don’t know why people don’t talk about them more often as it seems they fix the problems of bolt guns and the role of sniping in general (according to this vid at

  • @ghillemh
    @ghillemh 6 років тому

    I agree that AEGs have a massive advantage in ROF, however, by nature of the fact that most sites allow a much higher fps for bolt actions, a properly upgraded sniper will out range an AEG. This is mostly because the higher fps allows you to use heavier BBs and this coupled with a hop-up system that would overhop light weight BBs provides the best range, joule output,stability in flight, and therefore accuracy. Coupled with the fact that you can achieve near perfect airseal on a spring system like a vsr, the fps consistency does make them more accurate and effective at 300ft+ than an AEG.

    Sniping is honestly more of a playstyle than what weapon you use in airsoft. Its more about how well you can hide and how close you can get to an unsuspecting enemy while still being able to take them out unnoticed by their team. There seems to be some confusion where people think sniping is about how far away you can hit a target but trust me this wont work. Yes the sniper rifle itself is kinda useless as the player could just take a AEG with them and be nearly as accurate and be able to fight better if spotted but the role of the sniper is not useless. I like to think of the sniper role as to cause confusion amongst the enemy team and force them from cover by sneaking around them. I still use an actual sniper style bolt action just because its easier to stay hidden with a quiet and precise single shot than with a loud AEG that might take 2 or three more shots to hit a target. Not because it has better range

    Well I use a trashy spring "assault rifle" sr01 which is 300 fps but only shoots about 50 yds, but this doesn't stop me from winning all but one of my 3 player scirmishes we play in an area below some electrical lines which underneath makes a tall grass area with small paths but about 100 yards away there is a dense but pathed woods where I usually run around and sit in
    I wear a camo sweatshirt and camo hunting pants and a deer blind "sash" across my body with this I wear a real tree fedora/cowboy hat and this has worked perfectly for me and I have tried making ghillie suits which have failded but I have learned that being completely still and only moving when an enemy can't possibly see you is how to remain unseen, but camouflaging your gun brings it to the next level so not only can they not see you but you already have them in your sights I used light olive green paint and a magnum sharpie and some just string around the hand gayrd and barrel to make it so hard to see that I one time almost lost it if it weren't for the orange tip

    One cool way to break up the outline of a sniper rifle is to take some heavy rubber bands or zip ties and use them to attach short sprigs of foliage to the barrel, stock, and receiver. This won't make you invisible or anything, but it can make your position harder to spot at longer distance.

    Utilized as I have seen in most milsim and other scenarios, yes...they are somewhat useless...in that if you are after YT click-bait "maximal kills"/etc...they appear to be "stars"...real sniping is as the OP has described...intelligence gathering, self-protecting reconnaisance, removing key targets, taking out targets of opportunity, etc...
    Most YT'ers just show plinking away at targets with no real strategic (or tactical for that matter) value in mind...thus no real objective is shown as being gained based on the snipers value to the operation.

    Not disliking your video but here's some input. 👍 From 30-50 yard rifles vs 80 to 120 yard sniper advantages speaks for itself. So long as you have a good team and a good course for snipers then they will always play an important role in the airsoft world. Look into the upgraded Ssg24 full thrust. Imagine shooting an airsoft BB 400 feet within a 10x10 inch target. And paint jobs are not that important (unless your playing in a forest with lots of brush) the purpose of snipers (In airsoft) is out ranging, that's it. And often the enemy can spot you but can't reach you, this is the tactical advantage of snipers. Teamwork is key, a sniper alone is usually a dead sniper if the enemy is smart and closes in quickly. At that point your side arm or smoke is your best friend. So with that, snipers are absolutely not useless. And you said they stay in the same spot, which is exactly what an unexperienced sniper will do. We move alot!!! Always moving the second we are spotted we get a couple shots then we relocate. It's all about the course and the team. If your at a small course or have no experience with how to support and protect snipers, then you shouldn't use the term useless as snipers are highly dependent on teamwork and communication. And as for the footage comment I agree, it's not as easy as media makes it look. Generally its 1-3 shots depending on wind. But in most cases after the first attempt if you don't hit they will peek out trying to spot you. By then, you've already adjusted your scope and have no issues hitting them. Media just cuts the adjustments and misses out. The biggest thing I hate about sniping, people who get hit once won't call shots.. At least 25% of the time. It's like a curse, people can't do that when sprayed with an assualt rifle. To me, that is the #1 biggest sniper flaw.

  • @facundocorradini

    Depends on the context and the sniper style and ability. I only play milsim games and GBR + BASR only games, and i can say under those circumstances, a great sneaky sniper is a force to be reckoned.
    Once on a milsim game we got a sniper holding 2 whole enemy squads for 3+ hours until running out of ammo. They had to move on a raised road because that area was really flooded, so he just rain hell on them without them even knowing where the shots came from, and thinking there must have been at least 4 or 5 snipers in the area. I was just him and his spotter, which didn't even fire his AEG as the sniper was picking them from the distance.
    More recently, on a GBB + BASR milsim game, we had an enemy sniper following us (I was the VIP) for 5 hours without my team even spotting him once, then eliminating the whole squad shooting us from the back when we were engaged on frontal combat with the enemy, trying to get into our extraction zone. Dude was smart enough to eliminate both our snipers first, then the squad leaders, then got us with no choice but to stick to the ground as low as we could while he freely picked us one by one, or try to run to the EZ. Which we did. And we failed.
    But those are the 2 most recognised airsoft snipers in my country, and under the perfect context.
    On a regular, "weekend skirmish" airsoft game, sniping can be really, really frustrating.

  • @zatoxz1513
    @zatoxz1513 6 років тому

    Basicly, it is true that airsoft sniping is a bit less effective as using a normal gun. But why should that bother you? if you like getting those 1shots where an aimed snipe rewards you with a long distance kill then youre doing your job just fine. Also, me and my buddy's always play in a squad from 6 to 8 people, trying to make a skirm more milsim like and being a scout actually is pretty effective on the field. when having a good position you can provide valuable information to the other squad members and getting kills without being detected is pretty good aswell. Every role in a squad is important if you want to make it happen.
    Also, our squad consists out of 2 scouts, 1 w bolt action and 1 w DMR, and 4 to 6 combatands, mostly only 1 LMG for surpressive fire and the others use assault rifles, we all can communicate with eachother and love to clear out urban like areas.

    Im starting Airsoft but i have German Sniping background ( shoot with the g22 ) Im 30 years now. The Informativ reason ist irl the real reason for a Sniper but as well as "vip take outer". For me the reason using a Sniper Rifle(and this might sound wrong since i realy trained with a g22) is actualy you feel more powerfull. I dont care about the "rpm or Range " even in RL Shooting there isnt that much difference is Accuracy and Range. You can modify the G36 to a nearly DMR like Gun which actualy can shoot the same distance (except the .cal its using) it would still be deadly. I think we have to stop argue with everything and just have some fun its all about the fun if we always crush on everything ppl. are using or having fun with i would stay stop using Pistol use Grenade Launcher. Stop Using Guns in War just shoot Rockets. Its the same thing there is always a better , faster , bigger.

    Snipers need to be balanced heavily in order to be useful.
    If a field has a set FPS(MPS) limit like 120 m/s for all types of weapons, then spring sniper rifles are screwed-they are severely outperformed in rate of fire, which makes them useless.
    However, if there are different FPS(MPS) limits for different types of guns...
    In Russia in certain regions full-auto guns have a 150 MPS limit, whereas single-fire guns get 170. With fully tuned guns it gives a 5-10 meter range advantage, which somewhat mitigates the rate of fire.
    That is if you act as an active fighter)
    As an intelligence gatherer, sniper just might have been useful...if optic sights could not be mounted on AEGs)
    Even the thrice-mentioned Novritsch decimated people many times more effectively with an AEG than he did with a spring sniper)

    The role of a Squad Designated Marksman (SDM) is much, much more prevalent in Airsoft regarding long-range precision rifles rather than the actual “Sniper” role. IRL, a sniper is typically gonna get set up in a single position for extended periods of time to either survey an area and provide overwatch or wait to shoot a High-Value Target(s), which isn’t common or even practical in Airsoft unless you’re playing in a 48hr MILSIM event.
    To be fair though, using a traditional bolt gun and playing as a counter sniper tosses the sniper/DMR play style out the window so it offers a pretty justified point to using a dedicated “sniper rifle” in games

    agreed, thats why my team has no dedicated sniper on our team. we are looking to build a sniper as a team gun, for when it will be useful depending on the map/situation, but no one is a dedicated sniper as they are only useful in certain areas. when we need it one we will have it. but other wise we stay with our normal roles

    How was the hop up unit installed I this? I have heard that the sizing to vsr parts is off and aftermarket hop up units do not work?
