My mom graduated from New York Art school in 1946. Also studied in Los Ángeles art academies. This is how she taught me to draw portraits. She also taught me that for art purposes to draw the human body you would roughly sketch it at the size of 8 heads. She passed in 1996. Waiting for us in Heaven to be reunited again one day.

This is why he is my favorite artist, he doesn’t take everything so seriously and I envy that, he doesn’t get worried or overthink when drawing and is full of confidence, I learned a lot from him and because of him I actually improved a lot, like really a lot, I could draw many poses now and visualize things more clearly and flexibly, I also feel like I have gained a lot of confidence because of him, I just wanna thank u for helping us a lot and streaming a lot because it really helps, it truly inspires me, thank u!

I'm a budding artist, and I swear this made more sense to me than ANY other way I have learned to draw faces over the years from actual teachers. Thanks for this! I think this is definitely how my brain needed to see the "structure" in geometric shapes to really fully understand how to do my portraits.

Quite good. I would have marked out the hairline a bit differently and I think your nose and mouth distance was slightly off, but wow, good job. This has inspired me. i will be giving this a try. your neck is a little too wide, try matching the width of the neck to the colored part of the eyes not the outside of the eyelids. I recently made this switch and i much rather the thinner neck look. If you look at your reference photo you will notice that the neck width lines up with the outer edge of the colored part of her eyes as it narrows as it approaches the head and widens toward the body.. Subscribed, please keep content like this comming.

    great tutorial and drawing,
Only thing is you should change the song every now and then, Wanderlust - AK is awesome but it gets old quick if it's the only thing you hear.
a recommendation I have is also a song called Wanderlust but it's by Nomyn.
just experiment with other songs 😁

@@hamedelshal Just want to clarify, I meant change songs throughout the video,
like start out with Wanderlust, then after the song is over switch up the song with another example:
00:00 - Wanderlust by AK, 3:52 - Wanderlust by Nomyn, 7:42 - Breathe Out Breath In (Instrumental) by Roof, etc...
if you understood my previous comment sorry for making you read this, I just felt I didn't explain myself well.

The Loomis method still isn't for everyone, unfortunately. I've been an illustrator for more than 20 years and I've never been able to use it. My symetry has always been distorted. And if I mechanically set up the grid (with a ruler etc), the final result would still look wrong to my own eyes.
