JPS is not helped by there workers. A neighbor of mine finally had her power restored from the pole to the meter. The JPS person made her go buy new wire from the meter top to the meter saying it was crystallised and making her buy the top.part claiming it was broke. Then told her she must pay him 15 grand as the area was outside the actual scope of his job. Interesting as in USA, UK and Europe the local power company is responsible to the meter. The customer is responsible from the meter. Plus they had already done the exact same replacement last year when they switched her meter claiming that she was getting incorrect (low) readings. Based on neighbors usage.
Some persons in Yardled chase St. Elizabeth has not gotten electricity up to now August 22, 2024. There is also no workers from JPS currently working on the pole lines in an attempt to restore power to the area. Residents are in darkness since the hurricane and school will be reopen soon. JPS needs to do better.
The responsibility lies with those in charge. It is evident that the situation is out of control. The gunmen are not deterred, regardless of how much the government talks, makes promises, holds conferences, or claims that perpetrators will be caught and brought to trial. Clearly, these actions do not deter criminals. Jamaica needs a serious crime plan that yields real results, as the current measures are inadequate; it’s like putting a bandage on an infected wound. When I see how Jamaicans are fighting each other on UA-cam, I have come to the sad realization that chaos is in the gene of the Jamaican people! Therefore, they will not stop fighting and killing each other. What I knew back in the days was that JPS workers would save the bulk of the work for the weekends. This means that they could "work overtime," and get paid time and half, and double time their regular pay. These excessive overtime payments cause a stress on the company's budget. This might be the reason why the electricity restoration is moving so slowly. The Gov't needs to look into this practice as well. Electricity is a necessity and people should not have to break the bank to pay the bill. In fact, when the hurricane came, all the customers who were affected should've received at least 1 month for free.
Also the cost for basic food items at the supermarket has doubled from covid and the government or OUR not doing anything to regulate these prices....the world is basically back to normal so the prices should be reduced...
