My dad´s 1987 320i was also Dolphin Grey. Because of my age (turned 13 in 1990) I´m more of an E36 guy, but to me the two best proportioned BMW front sections belong to the E30 and E34.
My Mum had one in silver, new from the dealer in Tunbridge Wells (L&C) and I got to borrow it occasionally…some tyre shredding fun was had it must be said!
While it is a high mileage clapper in Bronzit, I'm glad I managed to snag a late model 325iS before E30s got too crazy. H&R sports, Z3 steering rack, and 3.91 diff make these really come alive let me tell you.
86 tech1 325sport. Picked up in Liverpool for 2.2k in 2006. Had a brilliant few years. 6 branch manifold, standard back end and some bilstein shock with eibach springs. Best upgrade was a larger brake master and she was epic. Would need 15 - 20 times that outlay now
If CC doesnt explain where Mr. Harris and Co have been hiding I feel it will continue to have a negative affect. The sudden disappearance is just confusing more than anything.
@collectingcars thank you for the clarification. I hate to hear that for CC and Harris. That should've been a match made in heaven. I would've done anything possible to make him part of CC. I always imagined that he had a stake in the company that would be best for everyone involved. Anyhow thanks for the clarification
DAAAAAAMN I MISS my old E30 325i SE..... 😔 Had the sheer pleasure of driving her everywhere.... Until the cam belt said "I'm out!" and that was the end of that (I couldn't afford the repairs)... 😎🇬🇧
It's only a peasant 4-door base 325i but you'll take my Glacier Blue E30 from my cold, dead hands. It'll get dragged by new econoboxes but it wins my heart every day I drive it. Who needs cupholders anyway when you've got an analog, RWD, manual car with an LSD.
Beautiful car, I had two. A Schwartz Black and a Lachs Silber. No it's not a spelling error. It's spelt correctly, 'Lachs Silber' I came third at Harewood Concours back in the day. Now sold, but never forgotten.
I sold my share of these new here in Canada, in their own way it was nicer than an M3, most customers didn't want the harsh ride to loud exhaust that the M3 came with and 9 out of 10 buyers liked the sound of the 6 cylinder better and some of the upgrades that came in the new 325i Sport just made it a better value, the stereo in the 325 was far superior and the heater was way better, 320's and M3's had really shitty heaters, they barely kept the windows clear here in our Canadian winters , the 325i Sport with the LSD in winter time made it way better in snow and icy conditions and a far better ABS system, they sell for as much or more now than they did new back in 1990/91, better steel in the bodies also a nice clean one here in Canada will sell for $45k easily or more, Yes i miss selling these cool fun to drive cars with the stick and 3 pedals, just pure joy 👍
Change is always inevitable, yes miss Chris, but open to change, as nothing stays the same for long... or else one becomes a dino... the voice over comes close to sounding like the OG.
I had a 1988 325i SE coupe in Cinnabar Red with Black Leather piped Red with a full Brayton Design Body kit and OZ multi spoke dished alloys. It also had Munroe Gas adjustable rear suspension. Looked amazing but that back end was a twat. I also blew the engine due to the weak tappets...Who knew a BMW straight six was weak as hell😂😂😂
Such a cool car. When BMW kidney grill meant something. Those simple yer memorable saloon lines, the hofmeister C pillar. Airy cabin, amazing dash layout and of course that straight 6 peach of an engine. Could never afford a new one back in the day, but now I can I would not touch any of the vulgar current 3 series lumps, regardless of how fast they are. A halcyon time and a great specimen there. Thanks ❤❤❤
Had a 320i 2 door in red that was 6 cylinder in early 2000s. Cost me £2200 on an f reg which is what my friends were paying for nova sr's at the time 😂.
Picked up a brand new 325i touring manual in royal blue August 1988 from Royal Ascot garage £22,000 on the road. Early BMWs were special and rare. Traded it for a new 1989/1990 635csi Highline motorsport £47,000 also royal blue but with lotus hide from Ascot garage beautiful car, miss them both. I’ve had new M5s but DNA quality or something is missing and it’s not speed.
Is this exactly the same as the Alpina engined 325is (2.7 litre) that was sold as Evo 1 with 143kw and Evo 2 with 154kw in South Africa? Those cars are limited production vehicles.
I feel genuine pity for any driver who hasn't been able to drive one of the wonderful cars from the late 80's, early 90's. There's a reason even some of the more humble versions of these cars have become almost classics...
☝️Contest folks! How many movies/TV series where some main character drove one you can name? 😉 - Blonde (Kelly?) from Beverly Hills 90210 - The Specialists (France 1985) - The Last boy Scaut Who can remember some else?
Chris leaving CC is an absolute catastrophe!!! I hope they haven’t all fallen out ☹️it was the greatest cast of all. Perhaps he wanted the limelight or even to join forces with Clarkson? Either was it’s a very very sad day😢
My cousin had one in Dolphin Grey. Remember being picked up from school by him in the 90’s, I felt like I was the coolest kid in town! 😎👌🏼

Big fans of Dolphin Grey 👌
Had an E30 in high school in 1984. Needless to say, this was awesome.
Bet you wish you kept it!
This review was so smooth it felt like an add for the greatest car.
Just came back from a drive in my E30. Top class.
Hope you enjoyed!

"Cars like this are the antidote to modern life". That one statement sums it up.
I drove 11,565 miles from GA all the way up to Alaska with this legendary car without a single problem 1990 325ix coupe
My aunt had one of these and it was the first BMW I drove in and drove myself which sealed the deal for me falling in love with BMW 💜
Stunning car. Such simple beautiful lines. Pure driving pleasure
When this song drops I instantly think about BMWs... And i think some Serbian fixing neglected BMWs in germany might have something to do with it :)
Streten :P
A thing of beauty! I nearly bought one in 1997, but went for the M3 instead. These days I still see more M3s than 325i Sports.
Love my 325i touring

Honourable mention to the Alpina version 2.7 and the lovely 318is
Love it and love my 1989 E30 325i ☺️

Very tidy example
Sublime!
Type in 325i spinning and see how we play with them in my country. They or were relatively cheap red and had enough power to play with.
Where's the podcast gone??
Chris mentioned on Instagram he’s no longer working with Collecting Cars.
