    I love the way JSU used their woodwinds, but FAMU is the MASTER of that smooth, symphonic sound where all parts and sections are heard with exquisite balance❤

      @@litsupa1002 Y'all really got to come up with some new insults and excuses. High Schools are able to achieve that "power sound" that y'all rave about in the SWAC. Yet y'all say we sound High School. Yet no one can achieve the balance nor sound the 100 produces. So no, we won't go to the Opera with that....we'll go to Paris with that. We set the standards for others to follow.

  • @tmade90
    @tmade90 10 місяців тому +30

    FAMU sounds wonderful, as they always do.
    The Boom is sounding fabulous, as they always do…
    I think it’s lost on the younger folks (under 40) to just enjoy the music, instead of critiquing every iota.
    It’s an unrealistic expectation to think all of our bands are gunna sound the same. Each has its own style and grooves in its own way.
    It’s been 33 years since I marched in the Boom, and I’ve stopped giving Ls and Ws.. it’s wasted energy…
    Just enjoy the music, yall. FAMUs arranging and instrumentation is masterful on that you hear every voice, especially the woodwinds.
    The 100 reminds me of how Valley sounded in the 70s and 80s under Dr. Tramiel. Nobody sounded like Valley back then and nobody tried to. And they were fabulous.

    People seem to gravitate towards JSU because of their volume. Most bands in the SWAC appear to blow with all their might. It’s like they are blowing their lungs out. The low brass can only blow a note or two before having to breathe. That’s not musical. FAMU has musicians in their band. Symphonic, Concert, ensemble and solo quality musicians. They are not trying to rupture their lungs or lips. Their arranger is one of the finest in the nation. Now while I enjoy the HBCU band experience, never forget that FAMU is the Standard that all others continue to mimic.

That's the magic of the FAMU Marching 100, a band that brings excitement wherever they go. Their performances are nothing short of spectacular, a dazzling display of musical prowess and showmanship that leaves audiences in awe.

    FAMU music just don't have no soul to it a grove to it....the arrangements are to square for me sound like they have timing issues in alot of their arrangements.....songs being played to fast or to slow and then got all these instruments and you can barely hear them

      Their arrangements are very vanilla. But you can’t convince them that it’s a big issue, especially now that they’re in the SWAC. At least they didn’t play any marches this time. That’s an improvement. The next hurdle is teaching them to play with some funk and soul.

    Acoustics in this stadium are awful it did neither band Justice. I do have jsu as a winner here but it’s slight. If famu hadve played with more colorful and layered arrangements they would’ve won this. JSU had balance and tempo issues but book and dynamics was better for them.

    • @brad5732
      @brad5732 10 місяців тому

      I can understand the viewpoint. I think it's really a matter of our better execution vs. their more engaging book. I think the winner really depends on how you feel about round 3, I like us the first two and JSU got the last two imo

    JSU sounds Like JSU, Humping, Barking and Blasting as Always. FAMU is Always consistent with the Tradition of Musicality, Balance, Versatile Quality Control Musicianship. Weather It Be, Dance Routine, Field Drills (no Squares and Circles and Step 2s), Fanfares, Ballets, Warmups, You'll hear all the color of instruments backed up by warm brass section. I'll take that over everything. Now Imagine If They Stood Up And Played 5th Quarter. They sound good sitting down. They seems to never have to hump to prove a point. Both bands were good. Welcome to the SWAC FAMU. As the Islay Brothers say, Don't Change 🐍🐍🐍

    FAMU’s arrangements were suspect, along with the execution. The arrangements had any non-beginner level rhythms from the original song cut out, or when the rhythms were actually left in the band fumbled through them

    Yall folk need to catch up, and stop playing hole, half, and quarter notes as loud as you can, for as long as you can, and out of tune as you can...
