@@tanguyarzamian1852 Insecure much? - F1 98 is indeed awful game outside of the soundtrack. - Luckily I had NHL 99 with decent gameplay and amazing soundtrack.
Wow, tears in my eyes, my very first ps1 game, was like 5 years when i played it... so damn awesome, gonna find my ps1 and play this incredible game again! thank you so much for uploading!
Remember as a very young kid playing two player with my old man, who really wasn't into gaming at all, beat me every time.. funny what vague , relatively insignificant memories your brain holds onto. I'm turning 30 in a few months, yet I still remember hacking it round Monaco with my best mate like it was yesterday..
Ha! I knew i wasnt the only one who liked this tune, I got the game when i was 8 back on 98, loved this song 3 years ago (When i was 18) I had my "first time" and guess what? i used this tune as background on my room, even my gf liked it, since it kinda has some kind of aphrodisiac sense ;) God bless F1 98.
Woa, i just noticed this comment of mine i made years ago, and yeah, actually 28 going to 29 this November. Good old times, i still do fine with women, but i will never surely forget the time i had my first time involving this song lol..
lol 2 years later, i reply. i turned 27 this year. i come back to this song every now and then.. somehow i feel like i missed a lot back in the day music and games wise... such uncomplicated times, no climate horrorstories, no terror attack uprisings, no haywire politicians. i miss the 90s man...
Man Viperconcept was such a cool UA-camr. A hope he is doing well, cause I learned a lot of stuff from him. Heck, even his lesson about night driving and focusing to the end of the headlights reach can even apply to real life driving!
Everyones always dissin' this game. Its the only F1 game i have ever played, and i was 6 or 7 years old back then and i fcking loved this game and still do.
I remember playing F1 97 using Damon Hill in his Arrows A18 during full races in the Championship just one down from the toughest level, I think Expert was the highest and it was ridiculously difficult, but the next level down from that was still insanely difficult when you're droving an Arrows, and it was just fantastic. Played it so many time (still do) and I couldn't wait for F1 98 to come out, I bought it the day it was released and man, was I disappointed. The worse racing game I have ever played, the sound was awful, it graphics were terrible, the cars didn't handle - incredibly bad is the best they could do, the AI was dim-witted and always crashed into you even on the straights in which you got black flagged even though you were no where near them... Just awful, absolutely awful. F1 99 was much better but I still say '97 was, and still is the best and most satisfying.
The soundtrack is very good, it's a shame I can't say the same for the game, as it's full of bugs, the music and the menu is the best part of the game.
All I'll say is the F1 brand has done better ambient songs, I know this was their first attempt. For those curious F1 beyond the limit (1993), F1 (1995) & 97 all used more 'pump up' rock tunes predominately, and whilst I appreciate the attempt at the difference. Like F1 98 itself, it was horribly rushed and I prefer the F1 1999 approach of no music if it isn't going to lure players in. This is more like lo-fi music if you slowed it down a bit tbh rather than SCREAMING V10 F1 ya know.
The funny thing is, the guys who developed F1 98 actually went onto make a pretty decent F1 game - F1 2000 (EA Sports). F1 99 was still far superior to 98 tho if you ask me, and 99 wasn't a good game!
I never knew this but you're absolutely spot on! F1 2000 was pretty good, I thought, and miles better than just about everything they did with F1 98. I'd love to know the story behind what happened with F1 98. I can only assume that they didn't have the time to get it finished properly considering they basically re-wrote everything, including the game engine, from scratch.
AJC_24 f1 98 was offered to Reflections who did the driver series who turned it down as Bizarre Creations didn’t want to make a new f1 game. In the end refections refused and Visual Sciences got the job. They where offered the f197 codebase but they refused and opted to create their own. Suffice to say they ended up with what they ended up with. When studio 33 took over for f199 onwards they had experience the bizarre f1 engine having used it for the Newman Haas game they developed.
my first f1 game, too =).... What a game. very special. An the songs are brilliant I think. And today? only F1 Champoinship Edition for the Play Stadion =(... the old games are the best ones :D but i dont know what the name of the songs is. Did you know it?
The music to this game was great but not sure exactly what Visual Sciences were doing with this title. I remember the hype around this game was BIG. Bizarre Creations had moved on to do Metropolis Street Racer on Dreamcast, if memory serves me right, leaving Psygnosis with the license but no developer - so they chose VS. The graphics were awful. The draw distance was laughable. Crashes were more like bumper cars. You could out-run any car in a straight line, regardless of difficulty or car, by miles (even the Minardi was ridiculously fast). Cars didn't turn into corners no matter what setup you used. Opponent cars lost detail and randomly flickered to big ugly blocks during races. So many things that didn't work out in this game. I'd love to know the story behind what happened. Were VS under cruel deadlines to get it done and therefore didn't get the time to fine tune it?
I know the comment is two years old but I can still give you the story behind this game: After Bizarre Creations left, Psygnosis wanted Reflections to make a new F1 game but they declined, so they gave VS the task to make an F1 game in 6 MONTHS! That's why the game sucked. Btw: The PS1 and PS2 EA F1 games were all done by VS :D
@@JM69YT For some reason I never got a notification about your comment but thank you so much for replying! Now this makes more sense. I do remember that VS wanted to do everything their own way and turned down the F1 97 source code but didn't realise the time constraints they were under at the time - though I often suspected that perhaps the task of doing a game as big as an F1 title eventually proved too difficult to do in the time frame (not realising it was as short as 6 months). F1 98 had a lot of great ideas in there but to be fair what did they expect with only 6 months to do it? In hindsight maybe they should have banged out a game quickly in that 6 month timeframe using the F1 97 source code and spent (effectively) 18 months perfecting their own engine and ideas for F1 99.
@SlamVook Yeah! I was like 5 years when i got this game! I wont even go and race cause the tune are so nice! God bless this tune and the game -Many says that the game sucks, well i could play it so i think its was fun!

Good music, but nightmare of a game.
I really wonder who on the team thought it was a good idea to make F1 cars handle like 3500 kg trucks lol
