Please do this for every hero. Your videos are always amazing. I’ve been watching almost every video since your video about role queue coming. I think it’s important to note that swift step is also a cleanse and gives I frames to kiriko herself (the cleanse doesn’t seem to work on Ana nades but works on everything else). Dont waste protection Suzu on yourself if not needed!
Thats a very good point, but keep in mind that the i-frames are only useful in very very niche situations, like getting stuck by a cassidy grenade, or surviving a d.va bomb. So its important to not die when you could have just suzu'd yourself :)
Man I've been playing her today for 8 matches. Lost all of them, and in some of my matches people said I don't heal enough. I just reply with ,, I'm a support not a healer"
I think it's going to be a tough transition for a lot of people to rely on less healing. Flex supports are just so strong and supports that don't contribute damage because they are busy healing won't succeed in the long term. Taking too much damage is not a healing problem, its a lack of pressure problem
@@ioStux The problem with this in mid SR Solo Queue is that it's going to insta-tilt your team into losing winnable games. I've played Kiriko a bit now and I can already see where it's headed, people who like the hero but lack the very high skill cap, are not gonna have a fun time...

Before I unlocked Kiriko I didn't think I'd get on with her that much - I'd played a fair amount of Moira and wasn't confident in my aim. Then I tried her and she quickly became my main. Broke into Gold over course of 3 seasons now. I'm still less confident with her than with Ana and Mercy. But it's fun having options for frontline, backline, and pocket styles of Support.
I love that her ult is so powerful, that you consider 120 dmg headshots, which probably spell the doom of any 200hp hero, as just a quicker way to farm her ult. Like, if you hit headshots consistently, you win fights 9/10 times by flanking and picking off a squishy, then teleporting back and going back to healing your team.
First minute of the video: Kiriko has a problem with healing. Uhm... have you played the hero? Im outhealing Baptiste on certain maps, not to mention Ana basically everywhere :D
Yeah wait a minute wtf this isn't making any sense. On paper, she has 78 hps, as well as a 50 healing burst suzu. Ana has 77.77 hps as well as a 100 healing burst grenade. Baptiste has a 49.42-68.93 hps plus 50-100 burst plus 50 healing over 5 seconds. All in all, Kiriko has a higher base healing per second than every other hero in the game. And people are saying it isn't enough?
My biggest question that wasn’t overly answered here is, how often should you be firing, and how often should you be healing? How do you know which to prioritize in a team fight?
It's a bit dynamic, you want to weave them, which means using them alternatively. When your team needs healing you top them off, and when your team is healthy you try to squeeze in as many Kunais as possible. You don't want to watch a teammate die without healing them so you can push extra damage, but you also don't want to stare at your full hp teammates if you could be applying pressure with your Kunais instead. Hope that helps!
@@ioStux Totally! Thanks for the super quick response. I’ve been getting ALMOST as much healing output as our Baptiste/Moira/whatever we run at the time, but my damage is definitely suffering because of it. I’ve been trying to heal proactively - throwing ofuda before the enemy attack hits, so it heals AS the health goes down. I’ll try to focus more on the kunai though and find a healthy balance!
@@ILockhartI Also, if your team is topped off, you could try and go on a quick flank to pick off a squishy. If things get dicey for either you or your team, you can just swift step back to them.

@@ioStux my pleasure. I also subbed! The video that I watched before your I fell asleep too 😂 To often UA-camrs just give a brief overview and don’t have the strategies you put forth in this video! Very helpful!
You going to be covering the other characters as well? I'm a very new player to the series. What characters could you recommend? I really don't know who I like in terms of tanks and DPS. But I love being Kiriko and moira
Yup, will cover the other characters as well :) For new players i recommend playing at least a couple games on all characters until you find a role that really speaks to you. Dont worry too much about min maxing, just focus on finding your passion! :)
For new and less headshot capable players, it's always better off to heal more and shoot less. You should definitely try to be aggressive and snipe some headshots as kiriko but I think its cool to just spend about half effort, 50% in heal and 50% in dmg.
Yup! You want to balance healing and damage, its just important to apply pressure on top of keeping your team alive. Also keep in mind that the only way to improve your aim is to practice, so even with bad aim you have to try and land as many shots as possible to improve :)
I would recommend trying to lower sensitivity to like ~30, and then trying to keep your crosshair at head level, and use your left-right movement keys to keep the crosshair on the head.
@@aguyontheinternet8436 that's pretty solid, I usually just don't move my mouse in vertical motion and just keep firing and it will get some random kills
I haven't played OW since Sombra/Ana's release in the first one basically but this hero and a friend got me into it again so im still getting use to the changes. Healers are always the first to blame when we lose and as a main one, I dont think her kunais are more important than healing, specially with a second slow healer but thats jsut my inexperienced opinion, eveything else has been a huge help
You can put your swift step sensitivity on 50 I think it was and then the indicator tells you when your heal is hitting the target or when it's just flying past by.
3:43, i disagree on not using her in dive comp, her mobility makes her able to quickly get a dps, tank or support in trouble; out of trouble, she can also pre-heal a diving genji or winston. and finally she can tremendously boost a genji's ultimate by using Kitsune on top of him when he goes for blade. It is risky, but i will wait from a safe spot for my genji to pop his ultimate, (while healing my tank or poking at squishy's) TP on top of him pop kitsune on top of the enemy team, giving him a lot of space to slice them up. I will then (depending of the situation) support him with poke damage or suzu myself and get to a safer spot to support the push and heal him. But then again im no GM player and that playstyle might be heavily punished at higher levels. Its just my oppinion
Im playing scrims in low gm-mid gm and I have massive problems with kiriko in a dive comp. Once they realize that if your team dives and you tp with them, they are going to dive you all the time. And only prot suzu isn’t. Enough to save you. There are better picks
The problem with kunai headshots is they're the hardest headshots to hit in the entire game considering they're so slow. Midrange and up-close they're not bad, but long range it's just luck that the moving target you're shooting at happens to walk into it.
I love playing Kiriko. She is a fun addition to the support roster. Why is she banned from rank? Both teams would have the ability to pick her, no? Now they are going to make nerfs/adjustments even though shes not getting any play in a ranked setting?
They want to give people time to learn how to play with, as and against her, so you dont have as many first time kirikos in ranked. Also makes sure there are no gamebreaking bugs in ranked.
PLEASE do this for supports first then all the others!! 😁 I had watched maybe 4 other cosching videos of yours before this but this guide really broke Kiriko down without going crazily in depth. Could/would you do teamfight scenario videos?
I'd be curious to hear your take on how Awkward approaches the hero in comp. He essentially treats it like you would a flanker, where he comes at an off angle, gets picks and distracts the enemy team, and then goes back to his team when he gets in trouble and helps with healing until his CDs come back up. People either love him or hate him, but let's be fair: 1) He has demonstrated several times that it works in every tier, allowing him to win games and climb to the highest ranks (skrims and professional will likely be different). 2) Even if you don't like it his logic is solid: getting a pick means less healing is needed (dead people don't do damage), and distracting the enemy means his team needs less healing. 3) Getting the enemy team to waste their time on damage they can't convert into a kill and distracting them is value. Obligatory required mention of "support, not healer" lest I face the wrath of ML7. Here is a video showing his approach: ua-cam.com/video/x6cIbRv5DJk/v-deo.html I'd love to hear your take... any time he is brought up it always gets spicy. XD
This video is straight facts, ive been playing mostly as kiriko since launch and ive gotta say that kirikos that can consistently hit their knives can dominate games, its bad to try and focus healing cause her healing isnt great and really her cleanse is what really makes her a support, and her ult when used right can wipe teams in seconds
I have played her almost exactly the opposite of how she is described here. I see a genji in the enemy backing and I Teleport to him, throw my protection so we secure the kill on his duel, then I heal him up and send him off again. Same with DVa, Winston, Sombra. To me she's great in a dive and her ultimate is for when you blink back to the cart death ball and you need to win a team fight. You aren't meant to fight for long in the ultimate, but it usually breaks the enemy death ball, and the enemies are forced to separate, your dive jumps on the weak heros and you are there to teleport to them and make sure they win their fights.
Kiriko does have pretty good healing, if spamming healing ofuda you actually do more healing than Mercy per second, but Kiriko lacks *burst* healing like Ana and Baptiste. But Suzu is extremely OP, and there's no healing better than killing the enemy team, which Kiriko can excel at if you are good with headshots.
I’ve been using her in ranked and so far I’ve won almost all my matches and I’m not used to being a healer but everytime I try and play dps the healers are trash and I’m not good at any of the other healers except maybe moira and zenyatta but thanks for this video it helps a lot
Thank you so much! I’ve been wanting to learn Kiriko but had trouble determining how I should be playing with positioning and target focus. Would you also please make a video on Mercy in OW2? I’ve been maining her for a long time and was consistently in low diamond in OW1, but I feel like she’s just not as impactful in OW2 despite my gameplay still being pretty solid. Should I be approaching her differently in this new environment?
I'll make guides for all the heroes eventually :) Mercy is a bit like a multiplier, only as good as the thing she's damage boosting. In ow2 mercy is all about enabling your carry as much as humanly possible to allow them to 1v5. You dont have any burst healing so keeping people alive is rough, if you dont have any great targets to pocket that can carry the game, then mercy is a tough pick unfortunately :(
17:42 Is 120 dmg on a weapon that fires incredibly quickly not enough damage for you to get picks? She could easily win a fight against any dps in the game.
Great content!! I have a silly question, in ur opinion which dps is a good pair to duo with her ? implaing they will be doing soloq with comunications.
I would say genji is a great pair for her. Their ults pair well, and she can keep up with genji and easily provide healing, and for Kiriko, he is always a great teammate to swift step to.
I was doing high healing at first too but realized that’s not her best role. Try weaving in as many kunai shots as you do healing. You shouldn’t be the main source of healing as Kiriko. She’s a support, not a healer. Took a while for me to get that, still working on it.
Bap has burst healing and more damage throughput than Kiriko, and his Immortality field is stronger. Because of this, Baptiste is better in situations where your team is outclassed significantly by the enemy team, for example when playing with friends who are worse than you.
Omg I didn't even notice. I'm cutting her some slack though, she's probably new to the game and doesn't know the map well, I definitely fell in there a couple times as well when I started out :D
I actually prefer playing her in a Dive comp. I guess it just depends on your skills and situational awareness. Now I have been playing OW for 6 years so my game sense is way above average. All in all practice makes perfect 😊
Fairly new to the game but I'm already a fairly solid Lucio player. However, I'm trying to learn Kiriko as a backup. This video is super helpful. TY. With that said, I'd love to see some other detailed tutorials for the other support characters as well.
I will say I do slightly disagree with the swift stepping to a tank in the frontline is a horrible thing you should never do. I find swift stepping, throwing down suzu, and then healing a tank is sometimes enough for the tank and you to hold your own against whoever is fighting the tank, but in a heavily unbalanced fight, for say a dva, low health tank, and you, yeah you're probably screwed, but if it's like a genji or something, i think the tank and you will be able to pull through and kill the enemy. especially if it's a reinhardt who can shield while you heal them, and slightly stun the enemy, so that's 160 when you get to them and throw suzu, then 290 once they use some kind of shield, and then once they do some sort of attack like reinhardt's rush, or roadhog's hook, or dva's fly, that's enough for your heal to reload and you can give them the third bust giving 420 health total, and then account for the damage the tank does to the enemy in that time, in addition with the damage you can help deal, and I think you're safe, AS LONG AS IT'S NOT AN OBSURDLY UNMATCHED FIGHT
Shit idk about y’all but I’m getting 11k healing per 10mins, Not crazy damage I just use it to defend myself, kill low targets , if my team is full health I’ll try to get my ult with damage. But other than that I use her differently. If my dps is back lining I’ll swift step to help if the situation calls for it. I’ve won 12/14 games on her and have climbed 3 ranks one tricking. Her healing is actually very strong as you can pre heal your teamates if they’re peaking an angle.
It’s funny how he says she’s really bad in dive but it’s actually her strongest team comp (she’s great in all kinds of comps though). If swift step had a longer cooldown it’d be a different story
I actually feel like the devs weren’t trolling putting the talismans on m1 and dps m2 I haven’t changed it and I drop avg 9k healing and around 2k dmg per 10 mins. I feel like the talismans being on m1 promotes the healing support playstyle but I’ve yet to try it changed.
Hey, small problem with you saying she has a low healing output. On paper just shooting a thing to do healing, she has 78 hps, Ana has 77.77 hps, Moira has 70hps, and Baptiste has 49.42-68.93 hps. All in all, Kiriko has a higher base healing per second than every other hero in the game. And she isn't very good for healing?
I'd argue when your example at 3:25 should not really be a stacked team comp, no? Soldier and Ashe should probably play their own angles while Rein goes in. Just seems like stacking in a comp like that loses you too much map control. If you played it well even by solo queue standards for Masters/GM then you might not have more than 2 players in the Suzu or Kitsune.
genji isnt great with her in general, however.. the combo kitsune rush with genji's blade ulti.. Kind of insane and may even be better than nano-blade in some situations
11:37 very important. When your team is running in a death-ball, all clumped together, you lose your escape ability
Not entirely, you can still climb up to the next level.
@@hypnotoad101 true, wall climb can be a lifesaver
@@drewsanchez69420 it's definitely limited tho.
The escape ability turns into a invulnerability jump at close ranges so timing cc is key
But your other cooldown gets a lot better at least

8:42 "if you ever feel the need to TP to the front line as Kiriko, you were out of position to begin with"
Never have I been so hurt by words I needed to hear
God content, immediately useful in my subsequent matches.
Fantastic guide!!! Best one I’ve seen/heard yet!!! Thanks for this. Although some of this is common sense… it is so helpful to run this video to remind yourself what you’ve got to keep in mind when wanting to stay focused!!
Thanks for the kind words
@@ioStux my pleasure. I also subbed! The video that I watched before your I fell asleep too 😂 To often UA-camrs just give a brief overview and don’t have the strategies you put forth in this video! Very helpful!
Lets go coach
Healers are always the first to blame when we lose and as a main one, I dont think her kunais are more important than healing, specially with a second slow healer but thats jsut my inexperienced opinion, eveything else has been a huge help
goated guide
7:31 thank you to the whoever the goat is that started pushing the robot
Thank you so much for this!!!
Loved the video but can someone tell me the name of the song playing through the whole think please??
i love playing as her because it gets my brain working
PLEASE do this for supports first then all the others!! 😁 I had watched maybe 4 other cosching videos of yours before this but this guide really broke Kiriko down without going crazily in depth. Could/would you do teamfight scenario videos?
I'd be curious to hear your take on how Awkward approaches the hero in comp. He essentially treats it like you would a flanker, where he comes at an off angle, gets picks and distracts the enemy team, and then goes back to his team when he gets in trouble and helps with healing until his CDs come back up. People either love him or hate him, but let's be fair:
1) He has demonstrated several times that it works in every tier, allowing him to win games and climb to the highest ranks (skrims and professional will likely be different).
Here is a video showing his approach:
ua-cam.com/video/x6cIbRv5DJk/v-deo.html
I'd love to hear your take... any time he is brought up it always gets spicy.
Kitsune rush also speeds up special melee attacks like genji’s dragon blade, winston’s slaps, & rein’s hammer attacks
Yup, almost every primary fire in the game is affected, including melee ones! :)
I would like to see a Fox-powered machine gun of slaps
Great video ty
Headshot damage is insane with kiriko
It is so satisfying to 2 tap squishies haha
Kiriko does have pretty good healing, if spamming healing ofuda you actually do more healing than Mercy per second, but Kiriko lacks *burst* healing like Ana and Baptiste. But Suzu is extremely OP, and there's no healing better than killing the enemy team, which Kiriko can excel at if you are good with headshots.
You can get soooo skinny with her teleport! 😭😭 I love this character! Can’t wait for the other supports they’ll be adding
Good vid, thanks
9:56 Bold of you to assume Mercy players on my team play in the back
I’ve been using her in ranked and so far I’ve won almost all my matches and I’m not used to being a healer but everytime I try and play dps the healers are trash and I’m not good at any of the other healers except maybe moira and zenyatta but thanks for this video it helps a lot
Fantastic video!!!
I have 80 hours on kiriko, my advice is:
-insta lock her
-lose
-get flamed
-repeat
Great content!! I have a silly question, in ur opinion which dps is a good pair to duo with her ? implaing they will be doing soloq with comunications.
Thanks!
I would say genji is a great pair for her. Their ults pair well, and she can keep up with genji and easily provide healing, and for Kiriko, he is always a great teammate to swift step to.
@@aguyontheinternet8436 yeahh i found this duo a great pair!! she can provide tools so his blade or overall life its easier!
Great guide!!!
Thank you
This video was so low framerate that when i looked at my hands afterwards it felt all smooth. Great guide tho!
My bad. After publishing I realized I accidentally exported it at 25 instead of 60fps. Newer guides should be fine again!
@@teto_plays fair enough. It happens
I busted out like 12k heals in kiriko yesterday. She can certainly pump out big heals if you focus on it and use the suzu well.
I was doing high healing at first too but realized that’s not her best role. Try weaving in as many kunai shots as you do healing. You shouldn’t be the main source of healing as Kiriko. She’s a support, not a healer. Took a while for me to get that, still working on it.
Hey ioStux, when would you play bap instead of her? (She seems to do the same jobs / have a better ult…?)
Bap has burst healing and more damage throughput than Kiriko, and his Immortality field is stronger. Because of this, Baptiste is better in situations where your team is outclassed significantly by the enemy team, for example when playing with friends who are worse than you.
Oh dear
Does this mean you will be continuing your In-Depth Guide series to include more characters? Very Exciting!
Exactly. As of now, we are planning to release an in-depth guide for every hero in the game!
Dude, we need to talk about Orisa dying at 2:17
Omg I didn't even notice. I'm cutting her some slack though, she's probably new to the game and doesn't know the map well, I definitely fell in there a couple times as well when I started out :D
@@ioStux hahaha yeah i know, but was funny though. I fell there all the time also .-.
lmao
I actually prefer playing her in a Dive comp. I guess it just depends on your skills and situational awareness. Now I have been playing OW for 6 years so my game sense is way above average. All in all practice makes perfect 😊
Fairly new to the game but I'm already a fairly solid Lucio player. However, I'm trying to learn Kiriko as a backup. This video is super helpful. TY.
With that said, I'd love to see some other detailed tutorials for the other support characters as well.
I'm gonna have to switch her firing buttons on my console. Like moira I have to have attacking as R2 and healing as L2 or I'll go crazy
Dang, nice guide. I going to use it. Now I just have to get into a match.
POG ITS HERE
Can these go over to console as well? Or is it mostly just pc?
How do you change the hud colours for friendly and foe can't find them?. I play on a pc
It’s funny how he says she’s really bad in dive but it’s actually her strongest team comp (she’s great in all kinds of comps though). If swift step had a longer cooldown it’d be a different story
It’s not, I scrim and its not the best support line
5v5 does feel a lot better. I've noticed it most as pharah and widow. Just less people focusing me down.
And she isn't very good for healing?
why did you comment on this video 3 different times
@@allison69013 why not
@@allison69013 If you look, I also replied to a bunch of other peoples comments
Kunais aren’t as hard as you think sometimes. U might be able to get away with spamming them at a choke while aiming at head level
I'd argue when your example at 3:25 should not really be a stacked team comp, no?
Soldier and Ashe should probably play their own angles while Rein goes in. Just seems like stacking in a comp like that loses you too much map control.
If you played it well even by solo queue standards for Masters/GM then you might not have more than 2 players in the Suzu or Kitsune.
how do you have GUI and ability colors turqoice and purple?
Disagree with the 'sticks together'. She shines as she can dive to heal anyone within 35m as well as use them as an escape.
genji isnt great with her in general, however.. the combo kitsune rush with genji's blade ulti.. Kind of insane and may even be better than nano-blade in some situations
Weirdly enough I can't hear "Protection Suzu" after this one anymore.
What settings does he use for the crosshair?
21:00 *ana main in ow1* perfect
