Sat here watching this vid in GREAT BRITAIN 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🍻I MUST say the USA looks a beautiful beautiful country to live in .and as a ENGLISH MAN GOD BLESS THE USA ARE BEST ALLYS ♥️♥️♥️🇺🇲👍🍺
Steve Hardman The USA is gorgeous. The landscape is so varied. We’ve got the desert, oceans (tropical and sub-tropical), red rocks, various mountains with varied weather, lush green states that are different from one another, islands (including Hawaii), all the way up to Alaska where it’s snowy and very cold all the time, etc. That’s the one thing I like about living here. Other than that I’m not so crazy about it.
Steve Hardman thank you for the kind words. Hope you can come visit someday, it's a large country with almost every kind of terrain you can imagine. I'm from California (native to the Northern parts) and my favorite areas are the redwoods and the coast here up North. I know our state is a hot mess right now, but being able to drive to these places and just decompress is a blessing. God bless you!
I live here in California and I agree about the scenery here in this video. But, I've been on the East Coast and I've found that having an ocean view works well whether it's the West or East coast. If I had were a multi-millionaire I would have a house on both coasts.
debcarnes 100...believe me people flock to California & it may be the only state they visit! The climate is excellent! Just need to clean up the street people!
@@edwardjones9631 The only way they are going to do that is by cleaning up their government. But they won't. Then when they finally get tired of it they just move away and continue to vote the same type of people into office where they move to and create the same crap they moved away from.
Aww coming into my old stomping grounds. SB and Ventura. You need to come back up North to see my neighborhood now. I love driving that coast on Hwy 1, but it can be treacherous in places. I'll be watching this when I get back from work! Thanks for making these.

Mindy Williams How’s New Mexico treating you? I left California for New York but I wanted to move to New Mexico really. Still stuck in New York unfortunately. Grrrr. New Mexico is a beautiful state too, as is California. New York is booooring scenery wise.
This is lovely viewing. On my one trip to CA, I didn't go that far south on 101, stayed just north of Big Sur. The scenery is literally breathtaking and very good for any human soul to view. I highly recommend it as a bucket list road trip, if you can't do anything else in CA. On the other hand, if you can spend time in any of the national parks to the east of this highway, it'll probably change your life. That's not hyperbole. Thank you for your terrific videos. K In TX Omg, driving the 101 along the Big Sur area is soul enhancing indeed. What a spectacular view! Not much compares to it really. Awesome doesn’t come close to describing it.
Mike, thanks for taking us on this lovely drive with you. I agree, I’d be happy to live in this part of California. As soon as I win a couple big lotteries, I’ll head on out there! Just kidding, I don’t play the lottery. But now visiting this part of CA is on my bucket list. Safe driving and thanks for an A+ video.

I sure love this stretch of road. I've driven it many times in my life, having been born and raised in So. Cal. I now live in Clovis NM and really miss the Pacific Coast. I only go back to visit family now, and to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing this video!

Mike if you ever have a layover in Ventura or Oxnard do yourself a favor and get on a charter boat and go fishing out at the channel islands. If you get a good captain (most are) you can pretty much guarentee a full bag. The fishing is just insane out there. I lived in Oxnard for 10 years and would go at least once a month.

Beautiful place. Thanks for the ride! I've never been that far west. My daughter and her feller go out that way all the time but the furthest west I've ever been is Mexico via Brownsville, TX lol

Hi -- I love watching your videos, but I wish you would give more information -- where exactly are you, what direction are you going, what time of day, what time of year?
CB....Mtn Man is always in motion & he almost always announces destinations. By your questions, you may need a travel atlas to gain familiarity with the Western USA! He announced it was 68℉ as we passed by Santa Barbara! The coast, mountains, valleys, & arid deserts, certainly offer year-round scenery! Watch his prior videos!!
Nice ride buddy! Every time I do this section I'm on my Triumph Bonneville so this was a whole different perspective. That rest area near the top of your video is a really nice spot. I have come to accept that Santa Barbara traffic slowing as a given. See you down the road.
How funny, I was just talking about this movie to my husband today. He picked some stupid horror flick called The Car or something lame. And I brought up Duel asking if he remembered it. He did, of course. lol
Aww home sweet home. When I would drive home from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo or San Jose, that was my "almost home" stretch. I'm guessing the construction was the Turnpike onramp sinkhole.
I drove Hwy 101 south from Olympic National Park down into the Redwood National Forest in a 1971 Oldsmobile 442 W 30 Convertible back in 2005, probably the best road trip I've ever done and I've done Plenty of road trips in my Classic Oldsmobiles 😀
The islands are called the Channel Islands. It's beautiful out there too if you have access to a boat, it's always a good day when it's clear enough to see them well. This makes me miss SB and VTA.
@@ridingshotgun1251 You should. My mom used to go out there all the time. She has since passed away, but I have all her photos from those days. Lots of little places where you can find a private alcove and explore the islands or just swim and fish.
Living in Baton Rouge i'm looking forward to go back driving on hwy1 especially above SF...just totally different then near by Florida and so worth to get out
Thanks for the ride, Mike!!!! Long time since I've been through that part of commiefornia. I was a young Marine then, young, dumb and full of... well you get the picture. Been over that old bridge you showed @2:33 , that was 101 back in '72', it's been built up a whole lot since back in the daze, the beach's were wild and free, I see they are state owned now and probably heavily policed (no more keggers, damned shame) things do change, don't they!?! We hung out further south mostly, but went up that way when there was time!!! That area was ALL farms then with only a very few house's, ranch's I guess you would say, and land was cheap then, well compared to today!!!! I drove an old beater '57' Ford Fairlane in those days, wish I still had it, oh well, that was a great ride Mike, thanks again!!!! See ya
you could have passed me on the road! i drive this everyday to work in sb. i will be looking for the chicken!! i have wondered if i would see you here west coast! glad you were in the hood. thanks for the ride!!!
Dang!!!! I remember that road when it was 2 lane hwy as well! I learned to drive on that road. There was/is a natural hot spring right before you get to Gaviota Pass. Near the Lompoc/Vandenberg AFB turn off. We used to skinny dip there way back in the 70's. Lmao, too funny. How in the hell did I get so old?
My son went to college in Montecito next door to Santa Barbara - worked in a sporting goods store in Santa Barbara while going to college. I bought my first Honda in Santa Barbara way back in the 1970s.
Did they raise the speed limit out there for trucks? I noticed the speed limit signs didnt say 55 for trucks. Driving the 101 was ine of my favorite trips ran from ontario up to richmond leave fri. For a monday delivery id stop take naps enjoy the scenery lol
I enjoyed watching this yesterday while we were in 70s up north but with wind gusts from 30-50mph. I heard Tahoe had 209 up on the peaks. I am not sure if it was this video or the one prior that you talked about people in CA wear hoodies when it is 40-50 degrees. I think I said this before that my friend in MN called me and I told her it was so cold. She said "what is it 73 degrees?" I said "yes exactly and I am wearing my sweats." She said it was -73 Wind chill where she was. Big difference. I told her though we have moisture in the air.....right..teehee. Any way, today another warm and windy day and I woke up coughing up a storm. Not sure what it is. On Friday my husband had surgery early in the morning so I went to the cafeteria to have breakfast. This young lady walked through hacking away. She was not wearing a mask and she seemed like she worked at the hospital. I haven't been around to many people as my husband was having surgery. You know I live 2 miles from Travis AFB.....were the China evacuees are quarantined. So if you don't hear from me in your next video, you will know what happened. (I hope not....I haven't heard that any of them came down with it but I think 4 went to area hospitals). Their quarantine is up on 2/17 I think.
@@ridingshotgun1251 Yes I have seen the videos on Twitter of a man falling off a stool and dying and those big machines dispensing disinfectant into the air. I am not worried really. I did fill up all my soap dispensers with soft soap today. Funny after commenting about the virus on Twitter they did a temporary block on me. They want me to put in my cellphone number to verify I am not a bot. Really??? They probably want to look up my address. I won't give them the satisfaction. I will stay off for about 2 weeks until the virus scare is over. The FBI, CIA or whoever can visit me any time....I am not afraid. I am a law abiding citizen.
I did not travel this route when Iw as in California a couple years ago!! No traffic compare to Hwy 99 and Interstate 5 stay closer to the western mountains!! This look like a nice ride going near the coast!! Thanks for sharing!! Have you ever been up into the Glacier National Park area in Montana?
I really need to watch the full video before commenting, lol. At 14:39 you missed the Hollister Ave. exit where the original location for The Habit Burger Grill is. I first went there in the mid 70's when I used to visit my grandmother who lived in S.B. and the last time I went was last year.
You must be referring to Colorado's front range? Not everyone knows about it! It's awesome on commercial airlines! Several 14 k Peaks, just west of Denver!

Nice ride buddy! Every time I do this section I'm on my Triumph Bonneville so this was a whole different perspective. That rest area near the top of your video is a really nice spot. I have come to accept that Santa Barbara traffic slowing as a given. See you down the road.
Another great video Triple M. We need to see more of the actual delivery, backing in those tight loading docks.
I'm working on that and a done as well. Thanks for watching ☮️.
That does make the truck driving experience more real but where do we clock in to unload
Friend: I enjoy all your video's. I get to see the country again. Peach
Beautiful drive Thank you for being us along
Anytime Marie.. ☮️
Beautiful scenery!beautiful day!
It was a nice ride that day.. ☮️ Cindy..
I love driving that route, and the PCH as well.
Same here.. love those highways..☮️
WHere is Wilma?
@@robinetteknowles7652 She ran off with Barney. Never trust your best friend and wife. He left Betty with all the bills.
@@fredflintstone8048 oh no lol.......
@Riding Shotgun. I have seen photos of highway 101, but your video is grand! Thanks.
Those Eucalyptus tree love them they put a lovely smell in the air.
Yes they are fragrant! Also the Acacia Trees blooming beauty & awesome fragrance!
They sure do.. ☮️
There’s nothing more beautiful than this stretch of 101 from Gaviota to SB
Sir Mike !!! Thanks for sharing the ride !!!!! "'KEEP IT SAFE ""!!!!
You bet.. thanks for watching ☮️
Nice views of the pretty blue Pacific - largest body of water on the planet. Thanks!
Your welcome.. thanks for watching ☮️
What did you do to all the motorists? It looks like a scene from duel. :}
Dennis Weaver !
@@johnnyray074 you taken this to serious. it was meant as a joke for a trucker who may find my quote amusing and not belligerent to mike in any way,.
@@johnnyray074 ok "sorry about the misunderstanding"
Dennis Weaver and the Plymouth Valiant!!!!!
How funny, I was just talking about this movie to my husband today. He picked some stupid horror flick called The Car or something lame. And I brought up Duel asking if he remembered it. He did, of course. lol
EL CAMINO REAL=The royal road=This is the way.Just mt 2cts.Keep it between the ditches.🗽🗽🗽👍👍👍
I grew up there in the 60’s, what an amazing time and place to be
The islands are called the Channel Islands. It's beautiful out there too if you have access to a boat, it's always a good day when it's clear enough to see them well. This makes me miss SB and VTA.
I wanna take a fishing trip out there.. maybe this summer..
@@ridingshotgun1251 You should. My mom used to go out there all the time. She has since passed away, but I have all her photos from those days. Lots of little places where you can find a private alcove and explore the islands or just swim and fish.
Living in Baton Rouge i'm looking forward to go back driving on hwy1 especially above SF...just totally different then near by Florida and so worth to get out
Yea that's a beautiful hwy.. thanks for watching ☮️
🎵 I have watched you on the shore
Standing by the oceans door. 🏄🏻♂️
I like it when you video the scenic highways.
Thanks Gregory.. I try my best.. thanks for watching ☮️
See ya
Cruising the good ol cars . Nice. Glad to take ya back there.. thanks..
WE ALWAYS ENJOY...THX
you could have passed me on the road! i drive this everyday to work in sb. i will be looking for the chicken!! i have wondered if i would see you here west coast! glad you were in the hood. thanks for the ride!!!
You bet.. keep your eyes peeled.. I will be back.☮️
Excellent Ride Along!!! .. Thanks Mike!
My son went to college in Montecito next door to Santa Barbara - worked in a sporting goods store in Santa Barbara while going to college. I bought my first Honda in Santa Barbara way back in the 1970s.
California. How nice Didn't hear you say you brought your surf board . HaHa .TY MMM
Beautiful!! Thank you for the ride.
I lived in Morro Bay for a year some years ago. That part of the state is definitely my favorite.
That was a Beautiful scene of the ocean .
I drove every mile of 101. A bucket list item.
For sure .☮️
Hi Mike ...It's Helen...I love the way you roll your "R's" Santa RRRRRROSA Island....
Did they raise the speed limit out there for trucks? I noticed the speed limit signs didnt say 55 for trucks. Driving the 101 was ine of my favorite trips ran from ontario up to richmond leave fri. For a monday delivery id stop take naps enjoy the scenery lol
Great place for naps for sure.. no that haven't raised the limits but I hope they do soon . Catch up the the rest of the world and reality..☮️
Wow.. I hope you guys are ok.. that's a nasty virus . Wash your hands is the best way to combat that. ☮️
"California Dreamin", excellent video, thanks...
You bet
.
I used to haul Budweiser out of LA Brewery up that route as far as Santa Margarita. Loved running the coast
Love your videos and travels!!!
Hello Mike ,sure is a nice run in Cal. . To bad the polititions had to mess it up .Take care ,Be Safe .Peace.👍👍😊😊✌✌👍
Hope you are out driving and recording in these big front range snowstorms we've been having.
You must be referring to Colorado's front range? Not everyone knows about it! It's awesome on commercial airlines! Several 14 k Peaks, just west of Denver!
Man
I'm bummed.. but I did get caught in a few storms as it always seems to be now a days on Vail and caughtt on film.. enjoy soon..
wow beautiful ride thanks now i might want to see ca or at least that part of it be nice to go out on that beach and get feet wet
