    For Abiquiu:
1/ Take 1 Humvee, 2 rangers and 2 ATGm squad to start,. Put 2 ATGm squads in the Humvee
2/ At the beginning, move the Humvee to the road lead to the shotting event to get the 25mm trailer (the vehicle nearby will be on fire so you have to take it later, in the end of the mission). Tow the trailer to join with your Rangers (You have about 2 mins before enemies arrive)
3/ Move the 2 Ranger squads east, talk with the Scavengers, choose "what vehicle?"
option so you can get an extra sniper squad when talking to Balzano
4/ Place one ranger to repair the van, another prone nearby to shoot the dogs coming at you.
5/ Put the 25mm opposite to the river while your van go to Kondo house and talk with him to get camera view on enemies. Use ATGM and Humvee to kill all of enemy spawned next to the river.
6/ Move your van to Balzano camp, get the extra sniper squad while your Humvee trigger the encounter with Mac at the bridge, help Mac to kill the incoming dogs than move to the village elder
7/ Get your van to the dealer to get weapon and get an extra infantry squad and 1 RPG squad. Use the new squad to crew the truck with armoured trailer near the bridge.
9/ Move to Movement base, go to cathedral ruin next to the base and talk with Pastor to get his heavy weapon squad
10 / Use the 2 ATGM squads to snipe the 2 robots in Legion base but do not clear it yet.
11/ Move a squad next to the garage west of the base (where to get the Stryker)
12/ Talk to the Movement commander, choose the option to attack the Legion base. You will get Mac and his technical, Use his vehicle to tow the "ally" 25mm trailer nearby. Use your truck to tow the armoured trailer to the house in bottom right of the map.
13/ Clear the base, after that, use the squad next to the garage to talk and get the Stryker. Drive the Stryker to the bottom left of the map near Kondo escape route.
14/ Legion will start to enter the map, and you will get more Movement units, hide the rest of your unit in the bottom right of the map. Use your truck to tow all the fuel and supply trailers and put them there.
15/ Wait for Kondo signal to distract Legion than charge your units to the movement base ASAP
16/ When Kondo is available, use him to throw smoke near the hacked Legion tank and the 2 transport vehicles near the civilians so legion need a little more time to kill them.
17/ Move Kondo in a van to the base while the civilians get in the Stryker to the evac point. The fighting as the base will distract most of Legion units there.
18/ Wait for Movement counterattack. When legion are cleared, Balzano will left the Bradley in his camp and escape.
19/ Move your remaining units who just enter the map to capture the Abrams, the Bradley and the Hermitt fuel tanker.
20/ Balzano men will start to enter the map and turn hostile, kill them and take the trophies (2 trucks, the M113, the Humvee and maximum 2 vans if you are lucky)
21/ Do not forget to take the van on fire in the beginning (step 2).

The only benefit to the movement armored troop carrier trailer is the ability to put two weapon platforms on them and its large carry limit. I think you can even slap more armor on them even, But I think I may be confusing that to the junk armor. Over all the founder HEMTT fuel truck will last you to well in the late game. Plus, you don't have to stick another unit in them to set them up. I just wish the game let you store the weapons dropped from allies and enemies from missions. The homunculi units don't use rpgs, they carry the smaw launchers. A straight upgrade for the Rpg teams and Founder Infantry. Hell I'd be just happy with an end of mission screen showing what was dropped and allowing you to grab or change out what you want. But I understand that it would destroy the early game progression. Players would camp and farm early game missions until they've run dry every point of in mission ammo resupply. Farming up both unit exp and goodwill points from weapon drops. Will you do a break down of possible unit perk choices and what unit pairs better with which at some point?

I have a habit of stripping every squad of its major weapons before each mission. So many RPGs, 50 cals and squad weapons drop in a given mission that you can pick up on the battlefield instead. It all sells for a reasonable price.

If you include the Vehicle that Pulls the Trailer, 3 weapons. And yes you can ARMOR the Trailer with STEEL or CAGE Armor. But yeah it gets a Manned Turret (50 cal by default) and a Small Platform Turret (25mm cannon by default), plus the troops inside can shoot out of the trailer.
THIS THING IS BEAST! A Battlewagon in the truest sense of the word. The Truck or Dozer can tow it.

@jaywerner8415 It is fun to use. I put a TOW system on the Semi cab and it gave me really long reach against vehicles then a 30mm gatling as the main turret on the trailer for shredding power. It's biggest problem is it's giant hit box meaning Arty and Plasma Tanks do horrible things to it. I ended up never using mine once I reached Oklahoma.

@@wolfsigma Your not wrong, Legion pretty much always has a few Tanks on every mission, and usually at least 1 artillery piece. But hay, the Cage armor might help a bit..... right? (jk i don't expect this thing to tank a plasma cannon shell and live)
Still having this thing ROLE UP with Miniguns or a 25mm plus 2 recoiless rifles (including the Truck/dozar) It can deal with Infantry and Light Armor pretty easily. Plus kit the 3 Milita squads inside out with Plasma Rifles or the Socom rifles and they just add to the party.

@@jaywerner8415 I can see it used as a party bus or assault bus role, but that would mostly be for online multiplayer matches and not the story missions sadly.

Actually, Id recommend KEEPING the Armored Trailer. 24 Carrying Capacity, 5000 Ammo, 10,000 parts is quite the unit. Plus you can Upgrade it so it has TWO turrets, a 50 Cal on one end and a 25mm cannon on the other (and any weapons that will FIT on those platforms), and to top it all off the Infantry inside the trailer can fire out of the trailer. It also has its own armor upgrades, STEEL and CAGE armor. Both the 18 Wheeler and the Dozer can tow it.
The Dozer so iv heard is basically a Tank (more like a Bradley) without the main Cannon. Still, slap a Recoilless on it and that solves that problem. Add on the Armored Trailer and that makes quite the force to be reckoned with. The 18 Wheeler is obviously Faster and Costs 1000 less, but the Dozar is quite Tankey apparently.

I recommend getting the guerillas as well. The ability to plant C4 is fantastic. Can lay them as traps for the convoy mission coming up and kill tanks in 1 hit. Also, one the best things you can do to keep your units alive is to up their stealth as much as possible. To do this, you have to change their attack orders to only attack when they have been spotted (shield icon in the commands GUI), and either hide them in buildings or lay them prone. This will up their stealth, and you can use them as spotters for ATGMs which have range beyond their visual range or artillery. Laying your units prone makes them stealthy and harder to hit. (once a unit is spotted, they will remain out of stealth until the little eye icon appears again.) Smoke grenades save lives. A unit prone in smoke or hiding behind smoke makes it near impossible for the unit to get hit, even with artillery shelling them. But be careful, because smoke works for the enemy as well and it can be a double edge sword in some situations. Finally, observe the strength of buildings. Almost never use weak buildings. Strong buildings reduce damage by up to 80%. Line of sight is also very important. Sometimes your units will shoot at a unit in a building but just shoot the wall over and over. Youll have to reposition to get line of sight to the unit you are trying to hit. Or just use HEAT rounds from tanks or anything with HE as an ammunition type. Or C4 the building to the ground. Or send units in to take over a building. Founders infantry and Rangers have some of the highest melee stats. So they can assault a building (default button Z on the commands GUI, different from right clicking a building) and take few casualties. Can throw smokes for your rangers to approach a building without getting shot. Legion infantry all have 10+ melee stats, so do not try this against the terminators unless you EMP a building beforehand.

Instead of getting rid of everything and min-maxing. Play how you want to. A great combo for the cheap units is to use weapons teams/rpg and militia as decoys to vehicles, then use some technicals to get up close and take them down, spiders and platforms mostly. There’s many different ways to approach this game. It does not have to be a one trick pony. This is of course playing on harder difficulties, there is a custom setting, adjusting supply upkeep, damage taken, and even enabling more enemies. Supply there’s 0-100. 60% is normal, 0 is 0 upkeep.
Play how you want to, it’s a really fun game. I say fuck save scum and reload. That’s a god damn chore. Play for fun and enjoyment. Mass infantry assaults with artillery support is a very visually pleasing experience in this game. Dozers are excellent makeshift tanks, while no main armament, put a mini gun on them, towing a heavy platform, it is a truly awesome thing. Militia are trash, as recruits. But upon their level 2 veterancy of regular, throw the armor perk and grenade perk, they are quite handy in combination with the weapons squads. Sante fey mission is important. This is where you can really min-max the field. Take off all the extra weapons you have on infantry except rifle slot and 50.cal snipers (rangers you can take them off as they can pick them up). There will be tons of weapons when the battle is over. Refuel and resupply ammo before you leave the map using what you know you’re going to sell (enemies still spawn and will trickle to you so be quick about it). I hauled around 2 supply trailers the whole first run and never used them once. The carrier trailers are a blast to use. They are a great way to protect artillery positions while being mobile too, as well as transport units, as well as resupply units. Apparently units inside can fire out of it too. Primary is either kinetic rotary cannons, or semi-auto energy (or stock which is ok at first), secondary should be mini gun or plasma recoil rifle depending on your primary or preference. Again, they are excellent for artillery position protection/supply area protection. I’d sooner send a dozer with heavy platform in first than this thing, but one could argue having a dozer tow it for assault purposes is a viable option.
Don’t listen to everything everyone says about what you should do in this game, play it how you want to.

Hmm. And to think that I was the only one to farm the tutorial :D
The tutorial mission with Lazlo is also pretty farmable, since legion is infinite there. If you hide your units near the north entrance you can get some lvl 2 squads during that mission - the only real scary part during this is the appearance of mlrs spider that can wreck you real good. Just need to remember that you can rearm people in the stryker and humvee and that ambush rpg can rake out enemy transport, so no need to use 200 ammo atgm missile. And since the next mission is haven with supply depots - you can rearm everything there to full.
In the actual haven mission I don't use mines nowadays. You loose that engineer squad so all the kills that it gets are lost as well. Though I didn't think about holding the turrets (thanks for that, will do it next playthrough), you can cover the left side with atgm and abrams with big bob in it (just place them on the opposing cliff), since most of enemy armor comes from the left side. That way there are squads that are almost lvl 3 even after the mission.
Also if you know that you will run away during Abiquiu you can just disband every squad you don't plan on taking with you. That gives you a lot of weapons and manpower to use at the later point, plus outpost defence mission is very loot generous.

What i have done in Haven is i use the engineers to mine the crap out of the left side of the map using both AP and AT mines. If you've mined enough you'll never see a enemy unit reach the left side and there's no need to defend in the final stages until your own extraction which is plenty of time to extract Caldaron from the supply dept and get whatever unit you use to set the self destruct to safety. Also as the extraction phase for the other personel is happening i am slowly moving all the drivers over to the extraction point. Usually this mission is completed and my troops all survive with plenty of xp to gain 2 perks. The mission is well worth playing.

Santa Fe can be cheesed with mines, but you need to have a technician gain 1 veterancy to unlock the perk for AT mines. It may not kill the tanks but it is enough to immobilize them and making them sitting ducks, anything lighter will be destroyed outright.

A little cheesy but on the Haven Defense Mission you can use the vehicles you get from the bay and you can just block the entrance to the vehicle bay and that forces the enemy units to reroute to the central area.

I disagree with your point about militia being useless, their squad size is huge and you get 8 shooters (or 9 with the upgrade), give them grenades with the second upgrade and they become great at clearing buildings. I have had them 1v1 Bandidos and Looters at lvl 2 with the basic rifle upgrade with ease. They're obviously not as good as regular infantry squads, but using them as support for regular infantry, or alternatively covering them with a heavy weapons team they really shine. They're fantastic for holding down enemy infantry.
I'm only at mission 7 for now and will replace them with infantry squads when I get access to them, but they're incredibly useful at the start, if only because they're so much more expendable than your rangers and engineers

    • @Costin_Gaming
      @Costin_Gaming  8 місяців тому +2

It's important to understand that the early missions are far easier then what comes later and there's just no value to invest in militia for the long haul.
If you want a good but rather cheap unit for clearing buildings Guerrillas are the far better choice.

    • @maesterchris2120
      @maesterchris2120 8 місяців тому +1

@@Costin_GamingYeah but Guerillas can't hold the positions they take, and the small squad size of rangers, guerillas and engineers means that 1/2 assault can leave them vulnerable to being wiped out. Supplementing your attacks with militia units is critical to keeping those valuable units intact during the mission.
I guess it's personal but my playstyle is not to risk a single unit dropping their expensive gear, and there is no better tool to achieve that than the largest size, lowest slots unit in the roster

    • @rps215

Don't keep the starting one and the ones you get early on in Santa Fe, however later in Santa Fe you get one that already have 1 veterancy and better weapon, that one probably can be kept. Another one is in Nueva Tortuga, if you defeat the gangs you will get 2 with better weapons and 1 rank of veterancy.

@@Costin_GamingMilitia are great at scouting ahead for your main force as if they drop a few guys it's no biggie. They're also decent anti infantry and when placed in buildings can hold ground for a significant amount of time. If you also give them the NGAW assault rifles (which you can start getting plenty of) they have a good fire rate and can hold their own against much better squads.
