I was a teenager in the 80s. We were happier then. People were more carefree. We believed in being ourselves. We cherished creativity. It was a good time and we knew it, but not as much as we know it now. I miss the 80s.

Strange - I'm 48 this year and the 80s ,for a long time, were seen as trashy and terrible . 80 music seemed very in the past and bad in the 90s - not cool and not good. Now, its seen as a golden era

Nessa época eu trabalhava em Ferrazópolis e morava no Parque São Rafael - ZL de São Paulo. Sábado a noite quando eu voltava do trabalho no ônibus, quando ele parava no ponto perto da Sunshine, parte do pessoal que saiam do baile já entravam no ônibus comentando e até cantando essa música que estava no auge, lembro perfeitamente até hoje.

The style and music of the era were endlessly, explosively creative, innovative, even utopian...or creatively angsty. Unparalleled.
But there was a reactionary under current in many suburbs...fed in part by Reagan youth. Stepford-esque, seriously. They gave shit to anyone who was different from that...Trying to throw us in garbage cans, jeering, mocking, belittling, including certain teachers, while other teachers sucked up to the popular kids and joined in deriding the abnormals.
So please take these accounts of nostalgia/the "good old days" stuff with a grain of salt or two.

Us that grew up through the 80s & 90s, were absolutely lucky. Only the 50s could compete IMO & it was only one decade; we got two phenomenal ones. I got to see the rise of MTV, & soo many great musicians, movies & pop culture. So many sad moments too, the death of Kurt Cobain, pop music & society (not joking). I consider myself incredibly fortunate that I lived through the peak of music & movies and it's sad to see kids not realize how terrible these things are now.

I wish I could walk away from America right now, or avoid it the hallway, at least for the remainder of the year. A bit difficult to do, since this is where my roots are, I have no other place to go, and the anticipated sustained lockdowns will keep me shackled where I am for some time. At least the US did produce some quality music during my younger years with staying power. Still have a bit of a teenage-era crush on Amanda after all these years.

The exciting thing was the 60's London music explosion. So many great bands. I was not yet born. The 80's saw new wave and a plethora of great European bands, artists. I can't imagine growing up without them. So innovative and different.

I grew up in Las Vegas 1989 I was a senior in high school I saw this band at the Old Las Vegas convention center that was 32 years ago still remember that night... Concerts were like in every weekend thing back in the 80s in Las Vegas felt like I was going to one every weekend at the Thomas and Mack center from '80s hair bands to rock and metal as in queensryche and so forth it was a great time to be in Vegas during those years
