This video does the pipes an undeserved justice. I had a 08 that broke the weld where the pipe opens up to the baffle so I chopped mine about 4-6 inches out further than yours and it became the loudest and most annoying thing I'd ever ridden. However, late at night on the highway I could flip the choke on while wide open and drop the throttle quickly and it would back fire flames out of the pipes. Never any valve issues though.
I bought this bike off you probably about right after this video. I never knew it had been wrecked but that explains a bit haha. That thing was a nice bike. Sold it to my dad and he sold it some time later. We were in BFE Kentucky one day and saw it with no plates at a country bar on a backroad. I have a 450 rebel i bobbed now. Thanks for the bike and the inspiration!
hi I just bought an cone pod air filter just like the one on your bike.. I have the same bike but its 85 rebel. if I remove air box and install filter... will I have any problems???? have you had any problems??? do I need to tune it up after?? please help ASAP
i didnt have a problem with them. i sold this bike about 2 months after and put around 500 miles on them. no problems that i could remember... you have to think the rebel is only 325lbs fully built. i stripped 75lbs off. so the bike was 400lbs wet and a rider on it. not much to really roll around. lol
Hey, looks great. Good job. Observation: is your front tire facing backwards? The tread looks like its pointing backwards. I'm also use to seeing the rotor on the other side (?)
mekinik232 , lucky...I have to re jet the carbs, in CA you can’t even buy new jets because EPA regulations, closest place to get em is Washington State but I have to have someone in Washington buy it and send to me on the down low
Hi, I have a rebel exactly like yours, only my calbulator is open and sometimes when I run I have problems because I suck my pants and it goes off. How can I fix this little problem?
I ran a shinko 150/90/15 years ago on a stock 08 rebel. Because it was a beefier tire it rubbed top and sides on bumps but was an awesome tire for me. I got about 10k off of it and I remember it being noticeably "sticky". What I had was pretty soft but I liked it.
this is my favorite bobber build and scheme. I'm going to copy some things because you did it right. I'm just undecided on handlebars

+Nathan Rivas do what I did. try it and see what happens. this bike left my possession 6 years ago.
badass ride bro, i'd do knobby tires, looks great on ol school bobbers, great job man
Very nice I just bought at 86 rebel im trying to get some cool ideas to update/upgrade it a little
super charming bike. i'd ride it with pride.
good job man and rust is good
Man I would love to resurrect my 86 450 Rebel. My boss totaled it and it has just been sitting in my garage collecting dust

i used simple green with a toothbrush.... then a microfiber cloth with armor all leather cleaner
Nice bike dude!
Did you see any preformance on the bike like faster horsepower ever since you changed the air box to that air filter???
Did you have to mess with the carb after you chopped the pipes off?
+Dylan LeFebvre no. it was running super rich when i got it. the velocity stack and pipe chop fixed it. :)

thanks.
great bike !..
how could i install the air filter ? and what kind and size is the filter?
Cool bike
thanks!

You need cruising videos I wish I could post a picture of my 87 250
Those short pipes gonna give you enough backpressure to keep from burning out the valves?
who know. bike hasn't been in my possession for couple years now.
Hey when get an oversize tire do you have to change anything on the bike besides maybe losing the fenders
+gnarly441 depends on the oversize. if you jump up to much you will run into issue with the chain rubbing.
Where did you get those handle bars?
aside from the tire rubbing the seat was there enough clearance between the rear tire and forks? I'm thinking about going 150/90/15.
Manue Garcia did you ever go with a 150/90
why lower? once you strip the seat off rebels basically sit on the ground.
Front tire is on backwards i think might check it out
bike is long gone. havent seen it in 9 years.
they where ok. couldnt actually get about 70 but they did ok
where you did you buy your fuel filter, I bought one but doesn't past fuel. maybe it was for car.
+Akuma bikebandit
So did you litterally just cut off your mufflers?
beautiful bike. Even if it is a 250. Good job
Is it still running ok after chopping the exaust?
currently? no clue, at the time it ran with no issues. Just had to turn the carb a little rich to get the spark plugs to the nice chocolaty color.
How much is all the upgrades cost you ?
i dont remember. its been a long time.
no. the drive arrow is facing the right way.
What size is the filter bro?
how do those shinkos perform on the road?

@ custom painted . spray can he means to say. lmfao!!. but atleast hes riding!
How Much Did u pay For the Bike ?
how can i get white wheels like that?
+wms7grd buy whitewall tires.
Not bad lookin' bike, bro. Maybe, some more color would be better.
Front tire is on backwards....
400 on the bike and 600 in parts
well thanks. XD
yeah. i think it was a shoddy job
$400 i believe
@ custom painted . spray can he means to say. lmfao!!. but atleast hes riding!
