Many times I pass this Panama canal Channel. It was a good experience to me to stear a big vessel for a whole of my duty hours a Panamax type vessel. nice view also to see, a lot of animal spicies.. Exotic bird. How a wonderful world created by God..
When I was in the army, stationed in Panama,my alert position was to protect miraflores locks with a machine gun position, That’s what we mean by( Back in the day).
We visited Miraflores about 15 years ago. Pretty cool to see in person something I learned about in school. Very interesting and exciting for us and the kids. There's a nice museum there as well.
I love this video. Such an important & interesting arrangement. A unique combination of international trade, marine engineering and social duties. Thanks for sharing.
Just for people who didn’t know if you played Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 this is where Noriega makes Woods kill Mason search up Alex Mason and look on the cod wiki
Why the heck can’t the canal be broadened? What are those little vehicles next to the cargo ship doing? Are they actually pushing the vessel while it is moving as a dead weight and not on its own power?
Those vessels keep the ship aligned in between canal so that it doesn't hit the walls and damages it, these are called mules and they steer the ship through canal.
Takes some steering, that does: ship’s only got a few feet either side which is nothing for a vessel that size. I think they maybe do it digitally nowadays , but in days of yore à skipper really had to know what he was doing !
Yes, in many ways. Ships have to pay $80 per container for passage. As a visitor to the docks you also have to pay an entrance fee. However, crossing the canal (by car North South) by bridge does not cost anything.
Yes.. but, Suez canal was constructed by digging the plain Sahara desert. Here, the canal is situated on top of a hill 25 meters (75 feet) above the sea level. The ships are elevated to that height by pumping in water into the different chambers of the canal. Then, they bring down the vessel by pumping out the water from the chambers so that, she can get back into the sea upright and safely.
I got to see this in 2007 and wld love to go back and see again Lord's willing 🙌🏾 ❤️
really cool to see. I remember as a child (in the 60's) my father teaching me about that. thanks for the video.

Miracle ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Why dont they make it bigger, the width of canal?
Too many risk, maybe
Because making it wider means more volume of water to be pumped in and pumped out.
today there are new locks much larger and for giant ships
Is this ship can we call PANAMAX?
Yes,an American way of measurement
Do they collect payment for passing there??
Yes they do, I was working on the cruise ship, and I heard the toll fee for the small ship like yatch is around $2000, and the big vessel is $1,2M

80 % of revenue for panama is collecting from here
They have an app to calculate weight vs payment
It's on your smart phone
Good really

Amazing
How cumbersome of passage of ships thro' Panama canal. But compare Suez canal. Even Aircraft carriers too pass freely I say.

What a brain and thinking power
Have you ever poured water into a cup?
How much thinking power was required.
The canal is not amazingly intelligent.
Rather, it is amazingly large.
