The Waterman of India - Dr Rajendra Singh | Documentary Film | Decode Mediacom

On #WorldWaterDay, Decode Mediacom presents to you #WatermanofIndia, a wonderful cinematic experience on the life and work of Dr. Rajendra Singh, the prestigious recipient of the Magsaysay Award in 2001 and the Stockholm Water Prize in 2015.
The Waterman of India is a detailed account of Mr Rajendra Singh’s work, pertaining to the development of water conversation structures across the arid deserts of Rajasthan. A few decades ago, the conditions in certain parts of Rajasthan were pitiable and drought-like. The film describes how Rajendra Singh’s knowledge of traditional-ancient methods of water conservation helped transform the landscape by elevating groundwater levels, balancing the ecosystem, and boosting agriculture. Moreover, he inspired people to join hands with him and develop a community wherein everybody worked together to further the cause. The film also talks about the struggles he faced through his journey, especially about certain attacks that Rajendra Singh was subjected to. The film depicts the visual documentation of the landscapes and the water bodies, the awards and accolades he received, and features interviews of Rajendra Singh and many villagers that have benefitted from his work.
