who puts up and down the soft top 20 times a day?
agreed, what a tool :D
My first thought
Someone living in an area with frequent short rain, like UK or Ireland....
Man 20 times always faster than 20 times the hardtop.
Fr 20 times a day the motor on the hard do is wearing out anyway
Clicked bc he's beautiful. But also love Miata's. 👀
I was so close closing on a deal with an RF, but when I remembered how I drove my NA, I noticed I would travel further outside of my cities hours on end. Noticing weather changes I don't want to keep putting the RF down and up pulling over to the side to do so would be annoying over time so to put it simple a soft-top for me is more convenient once the weather force you to put it up or down when I'm doing a little journey travel 😉
Soft-top because one less one a person aka weight and more freedoms when it's down too 😉
I mean I think it should be said that the rf is always on average a couple grand more too
Who lifts the top 20x a day? Nonsense.
🤷♀️
Few spend their life outdoors now days unfortunately
😂
Why didn't you mention anything about durability and reliability? Is water leakage an issue with either? How reliable are the hardtop mechanicals?
I'm on the MX5 forums and generally there is very little issue with the mechanicals of the hard top. The main issue for both is just keeping the waterbdrains clean so that nothing gets clogged up
Don't listen to his point on the manual soft top, I never get sick of putting it up or down.
I put the top down once, then up once. Easy!!! No one does this 20 times a day.
My first car was a 1990’ mark one. I will never forget it!
It was way more difficult to do the move and it was not an issue at all.
Why awkward?!
I love you bro 🙂
Keep the car above 3 rpm , warm up the tires, you must learn heel toe, traction off, and most of all always keep the top down!
That’s why he said you could get sick of it, what’s fine with you may not be what’s fine with someone else
I noticed you have California plates. I live in the foothills of the Rockies. Ain’t that a big factor too. Or Wyoming where winds are redunk. What about hail or bird poop. I need more research
Putting that top up and down is NOT an inconvenience. It's sheer joy. Even so, why would anyone ever need to do it twenty times in a day?
Just bought the RF. Soft tops leak (eventually).
You must complain about free food
20 x ? It is either nice or not . Honestly Top would only be up in the garage lol or if I got caught in the rain .
Hard pass. Cars for dwarf.lol
The manual top is a bennifit imo. You can easily put it up or town while driving at town speeds. With the RF you have to be stopped
My dilemma is which color! Soul crystal red, machine gray, white or black..
Zircon sand metallic
Complaining about the top on a convertible? Get a sedan.
Owner of a manual RF in Ceramic Pearl here. I love both versions, and to be honest I bought my RF 2 months ago purely because it was for sale below market price and with stupidly low mileage (2017 with 9000 miles). I got it for the price of 2015 and 2016 soft tops with higher miles. I do prefer the RF styling, but being made to choose between a hard or soft top MX5 ND is like being made to choose between Kate Beckinsale and Emily Blunt.
"is a little bit awkward" nah thats such an easy to move bit and no one is actually doing it 20 times every single day, also you can do it at any speed and its faster with no motors to worry about. RF looks better and is more insulated tho, just preference
The hard top has a louder cabin with the top down.
I love the look of a targa top. I think that why I love the look of the RF.
Can 178cm fit into it?
Am 184 and had the 1st gen 1990 build. Size was never an issue!
How is that move awkward? I do prefer the RF, but this guy is exaggerating
Could you wear some tighter jeans next time?
loollll
You can put a NB miata soft top up or down and do the latches in under 4 seconds, while driving in the parking lot.
I've done it plenty, the expression on people's faces are hilarious.
If you are into performance, you wouldnt be considering an MX-5
Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of people that have tracked their MX-5s over the past 30 years.
That may likely be the most ignorant and vague comment I've ever read about automobiles.
Stupid
