  • The NY Times 100 Best Books of the 21st Century list (to date, obviously) came out at the weekend. www.nytimes.co...
Needless to say the debate has started on what was, and wasn't included.
Please subscribe and give me a thumbs up if you enjoyed the video.
I take a look at the Top 10, the books I think should be on there and have a chit chat about the list in general.
Books mentioned that I feel should be on the list:
    Hamnet - Maggie O'Farrell
The Island of Missing Trees - Elif Shafak
Where the Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens
The Shadow of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon
I'd love to know your thoughts on the list, what you think was missing, and what should not have been on there.

An entertaining assessment of the NYT list, I've read 15 of them but there were lots of non-fiction, which I don't generally read, and I usually prefer British/Commonwealth authors to American ones so that handicapped me... I definitely recommend The Corrections, I devoured it and enjoyed it immensely. I'm interested to hear that you like Elif Shafak, I was disappointingly underwhelmed by "10 Minutes 38 Seconds..." but maybe I'll give this new one a try...

Thanks @johnnzboy, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I shall be searching out The Corrections forthwith. The Island of Missing Trees has, I think, a deeper meaning than 10 Minutes 38 Seconds, so hopefully you like it. Shafak's latest release "There Are Rivers in the Sky" is out in hardback on 8th August and sounds fascinating.
