There's really no good answer to that, but perhaps I've met a demise of my own at some point, and this is my afterlife or my dream - whatever it might be. I honestly don't know... Or... Having that in mind, many of the animatronics little diolouge scenes talk about them toementing the player, and how he wont die, in a torture way. Also they say that you shouldnt have killed the one you killed. I think that is golden freddy, the restless childs soul is in it. He accidentally killed the crying child, who was accidentally killed by fredbear. You play as william afton going through the regret and torment by the things he created.i In fnaf six, william dies in the fire as springtrap, and as henry said, he hopes he burns eternally in hell. Thats why he cant die again, hes dead already and being tormented in hell for his actions were bad. Its all a coverup for what this game actually means, this might be it.

Try getting all the voices after the jumpscares. Mainly all the nightmares, lefty, and the puppet. If you hear it corretlctly they give out bits of the lore. But nightmare, nightmare freddy, and lefty are the ones with the best clues. Edit: there's a hidden cutscene with golden freddy as well.
I have a few Easter Eggs :O Set Golden Freddy on 1 difficulty wait for him to appear. While waiting for Golden Freddy, collect Fazcoins to get a deathcoin. Only on this mode you can see Fredbear's hat on the table. If Golden Freddy appears use the death coin on him and you will get jumpscared by Fredbear!! And If you get 10000 points there's this cutscene of Golden Freddy sitting on the ground twitching! :0

I have a theory, when Mr. Hippo jump scares you and rambles on it wasn't a story about him but about Scott Cawthon and FNAF. He never intended there to be a story and just wanted to make a fun horror game. There's a Mr. Hippo cutscene that is about a man and his son who feed ducks sour dough bread. Mr. Hippo also states one day a majority of the ducks disappeared. Possibly it was William and Micheal and William could have been collecting remnant. Also it may be possible that the mediocre melodies were test subjects of William. Guys if one of you could tell this to matpat on his twitter, plz do so.at the end of this game, it shows a scene of golden freddy glitching away. Having that in mind, many of the animatronics little diolouge scenes talk about them toementing the player, and how he wont die, in a torture way. Also they say that you shouldnt have killed the one you killed. I think that is golden freddy, the restless childs soul is in it. He accidentally killed the crying child, who was accidentally killed by fredbear. You play as william afton going through the regret and torment by the things he created.i In fnaf six, william dies in the fire as springtrap, and as henry said, he hopes he burns eternally in hell. Thats why he cant die again, hes dead already and being tormented in hell for his actions were bad. Its all a coverup for what this game actually means, this might be it.

I have also modified a few bits to make it easier to read, and have also changed some words’ meanings from their literal meanings to what they would mean in this context, so sorry if it is slightly different than what you may have interpreted it as! Sorry for it being so long!
ps: there's this song in japanese about the laughing kookaburra, which I thought of when writing this translation. It probably has nothing to do with this though, as it does not correlate to this story whatsoever.

I have a theory, when Mr. Hippo jump scares you and rambles on it wasn't a story about him but about Scott Cawthon and FNAF. He never intended there to be a story and just wanted to make a fun horror game. There's a Mr. Hippo cutscene that is about a man and his son who feed ducks sour dough bread. Mr. Hippo also states one day a majority of the ducks disappeared. Possibly it was William and Micheal and William could have been collecting remnant. Also it may be possible that the mediocre melodies were test subjects of William.
