Never saw this before. I wasn't even aware CCR played Woodstock. Plenty more of their solid songs to be found. I'm sure the comments will be full of recommendations!
Heard this countless times since it was released, bought the LP and the CD, but NEVER saw them playing it live before. Big kudos with the thumbs up today, bro. Rock on.
You have to go down this rabbit hole. So many great songs and John Fogerty is one of the best songwriters and vocalists from this rich era. Not shabby at all on the guitar, either. They were the kings of bayou swamp music even though they were from Cali. Green River and Born on the Bayou are great places to start for the swamp. Since John was such a prolific writer, they didn't need to do covers, but they transformed the songs on the few covers they did. Try I Heard It Though the Grapevine, I Put a Spell on You and Suzie Q. They jam on all three, the covers were songs they loved and felt they could really let loose as a band and they are all long songs..
Lee,how’s it going. I was a teenager when these early Rolling Stones albums came out and I’m pretty sure you’ll get satisfaction..lots of blues, rock, maybe Chuck Berry,Muddy Waters influence..but look at these: 12x5 album,Rolling Stones Now,Out of our heads and Decembers children….I think 1964-1965…And their first album..thanks
Oh My! You just wait, from "Born on the Bayou" to "Green River" "Proud Mary" (covered by Tina Turner) “Fortunate Son” & "Bad Moon Rising" you have a Treat in store for you. Great gritty rock from C.C.R.
Unless you were there few people know they played Woodstock. I believe Fogerty withheld the performance from the film and the soundtrack. They weren't happy with their performance.
The first 2 albums were bangers (IMO). Lots of extended soloing, It wasn't polished yet - which is a good thing. That's why I loved especially that first album. And Pendulum for the variety. I grew up with their music and was a big fan. This band was top of the world mainstream band after The Beatles.
CCR were the soundtrack of the 60’s. That you have never heard of them is fantastic because you have opened up rabbit hole of great music. They influenced every southern rock that came after them, even though they were out of California, which always blew peoples minds.
Well, John did sing some softer songs. The only one I dislike is " centerfield" want to laugh? John was sued for Libel. Sounded to much like John Fogerty. He won that one😂😂. And back in earlier day their music was owned by a recording contract company. He just this past year finally got rights to his music. So happy for him
@L33Reacts Your next from Woodstock has got to be Ten Years After - I'm going home, an iconic performance from one of the most underrated guitarists ever Alvin Lee
CCR and the Doors were the two biggest groups out of the good 'ol USA back then, and maybe ever. CCR still holds a record for the most #2 songs on the charts. But no # 1's.
CCR is amazing any-genre classic songs like Who'll Stop The Rain, and they're acid rock like this, and John is incredible of course: singing, writing, and his still underrated guitar playing!
What a treat for you Lee. Love CCR. My youth. I love the a swampy stuff like this the best with Johns voice and yes thats him on guitar. They are from northern California. Not the south as thought. What a talent. John still touring in his 70s. More local stuff.
Because of the lyrics in a lot of their songs they resonated with the grunts in Vietnam. They became iconic with the the soldiers but not the officers who considered them a bad influence
When most people think of CCR they think of all the hits from the radio, but early on they were a bit of a jam band, especially their first two albums. Susie Q, I Put A Spell On You, Ninety Nine And A Half, Walk On The Water, Working Man, Penthouse Pauper, Good Golly Miss Molly, this song... All great jamming songs. Another really GREAT one by them that never gets played is 'Effigy', one of my absolute favorites Such a cool feel to it.
CCR was known for their 'swamp rock' sound. They had a huge number of big hits. All their songs are good. Many of their lesser-known songs are as good or better than their hits. They sound like they are from the South with that southern blues-rock style, but they are from El Cerrito, Ca.
Check out Suzie Q (the long version) next. Other great songs are Fortunate Son, Long As I Can See The Light, Have You Ever Seen The Rain?, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, Bad Moon Risin', Proud Mary, Born On the Bayou, Who'll Stop The Rain? and I Put A Spell On You.
They played at some crazy time like 4am with few in the crowd awake IIRC. John tells of one fan yelling out support, like Love you, John! Search the story, he tells it often.
CCR played a mix of rock, blues and country but mostly rock. Within a 2 year stretch 1969/1970 they produced 5 albums and sold more records than the Beatles. Unfortunately, it all went pear shaped shortly afterwards. John Fogerty was a generational talent but also a control freak and, eventually, in band tension, especially with his brother Tom Fogerty, caused friction and ultimately the band imploded. They produced an album called Mardi Gras which has been described as the worst record by a major band in the history of music. I had four of those early albums… Bayou Country, Green River, Willy & the Poor boys and Cosmo’s Factory. All four albums are superb. Try Effigy from Willy & the Poor Boys.
CCR was unique as a great jam band that could also produce Top 40 hits. Check their cover of Heard It Through The Grapevine for another awesome jam. John Fogerty was a top guitarist who is left out of the Best lists too often. Great jam. ✌️❤️🎶
John is a LEGEND, was once sued by the record label for plagiarizing HIMSELF! He won the case but can you imagine being sued for sounding too much like yourself?
SUZY Q, RAMBLE TAMBLE, HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE, GRAVEYARD TRAIN, I PUT A SPELL ON YOU, ARE A FEW. BUT SERIOUSLY, THERE ARE NO BAD SONGS FROM THIS ICONIC BAND. GREAT THAT YOU GOT TO HEAR THIS SONG, ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVOURITES. GREAT REACTIONS 👏 ROCK ON MAN 👊🖖
John's brother and Doug made the most incredible combination. They did so much through all that. Just listen to it once and only focus on the bass guitar line. And do the same for the drums. But yeah man I am so glad that you are reminding me of these and actually bringing some musical Acumen to it, having like really observant reactions. I think it's great.
The Joshua Light Show was a familiar backdrop for so many shows in the late 1960s. From Rolling Stone: “The idea became this: Place a screen behind a band and project, from the rear, slides, film loops and oil mixed with water. The trippy visual experience became forever entwined with the psychedelic rock bands of the day.”
CCR were one of the best, virtually everything they did until the final album was stellar.... Unfortunately, John gave way to the other members on the final album, when it was agreed that they should all get a share of their songs on it, they had been getting a bit upset that John was getting his way too much, he was writing all the songs controlling the arrangements... Relatively speaking the final album is easily their worst, the best songs on it were were of course Johns but even still one or two of the others were decent... More than worth your time to delve into CCR... John Fogerty's solo output has been good also...
Hey Lee, Ned from Spain stopping by to say hey and oh boy you're gonna LOVE almost everything by these swamp rockin giants. They were from California but loved that Southern fried groove. They started as the Golliwogs ( not their choice ) but quickly changed to Creedence etc. They racked up a tremendous amount of hits from the late 60s through to the early 70s. I'm sure when play some more by them like " Bad Moon Rising", "Green River","Proud Mary", " Up Around the Bend", " Fortunate Son" " Run Through the Jungle" you're gonna recognize them. They were also on every biker bar jukebox back in the day, probably still are !!
CCR covered a lot of territory, from psychedelic rock to folk to blues to r & b to rockabilly to country. Like a lot of other bands from the 60's, they really didn't stick to playing just one genre.
Hey I was there at Woodstock '69! Unfortunately I don't remember CCR. Hey you had to sleep at some point between Friday evening and Monday morning! So glad it was filmed and recorded. Yeah that was a classic 60's jam if I ever heard one! Funny you weren't so sure about the Who. I do remember seeing them and feeling like they were a pretty big let down. Or dare I say (as a white boy myself) they sounded mighty white having just heard Sly and the Family Stone! A mighty tough act to follow!!! Now there's a band I'd highly recommend checking out! They were the highlight of the whole Festival IMHO!! Try "Wanna Take You Higher"!! I'll never forget the feeling of standing in the middle of a half a million people all chanting HIGHER! HIGHER!! HIGHER!!!!
Don’t apologize for your impressions and characterizations. I kinda like them. 😅 Credence is another top tier band you have to do more of. I Put a Spell on You is A-Mazing! Oh, and Ramble Tamble is a longer cut that is just a groove. You are going to be really happy to unbox the Credence catalog. So good. If Born on the Bayou doesn’t hook you for like, then I don’t know what. You want a positive Woodstock vibe? John Sebastian, who was frontman for The Lovin’ Spoonful, captured the dream of Woodstock with I Had A Dream Last Night. ua-cam.com/video/D-1-WXfGJJQ/v-deo.htmlsi=clx0r8PVQ1tHHVHB Or at 10:00 of this one for the real live performance. ua-cam.com/video/9Tl_oaxK83Y/v-deo.htmlsi=aYTBXbyqoFiFcwek
Their cover of I heard it through the grapevine is another banger.
Make sure its the long version. Banger!
CCR deserves a deep dive!!!!
So many great songs!
Stuck in Lodi Again.
Gotta do"Proud Mary!" their biggest hit! then John's solo hit years later, "the Old Man is up the road!"
Where are these kinds of Bands today? They don't exist.
Actually Fogerty is still touring and he was the band
Great classic rock, the voice, the guitar! Listen to “Born on the Bayou” and “Susie Q” the long version, awesome!
They’re coming very soon!
They own, " l Put a Spell on You" , and all the rest.. 🎶🎶🎶Thank you!🎶🎶🎶
Definitely need to listen to 'I Put A Spell On You'!
Never saw this before. I wasn't even aware CCR played Woodstock. Plenty more of their solid songs to be found. I'm sure the comments will be full of recommendations!
CCR❤❤❤❤ has a deep rabbit hole ❤❤❤❤every song great❤❤❤❤
Yeah, my CCR fav.
Heard this countless times since it was released, bought the LP and the CD, but NEVER saw them playing it live before. Big kudos with the thumbs up today, bro. Rock on.
Graveyard Train. The best blues tune nobody knows. Tremendous!

Excellent pick, Joel :)
😁😁😁
Most can't grow up in Louisiana without knowing what Chooglin is. However, I used to think he was saying chewin'..... a lot of laughs at my expense. 😆
Excellent CCR!! ❤
Top notch!
If you get started on CCR, you'll be in for a treat!!
One thing about John he was a big Beatle fan!
Who wasn't, especially back then. Pretty much everybody was influenced
Lee,how’s it going.

CCR is a CCR band. Nobody like 'em. 1950s folk/rock modernized for the 1960s and 70s. With a brilliant songwriter.
Those boys could play a bit huh?
You should listen to Full House album of Jake Geils band for the best harp.
J. Geils full house is one of the greatest live albums ever!
give paul butterfield a listen if u like harmonica
CCR is a DEEP rabbit hole
I keep finding em, so I keep going down em. 😅🤣
Fogarty's voice is definitely one of the most iconic in the history of rock!
Fogerty.....
CCR were the soundtrack of the 60’s. That you have never heard of them is fantastic because you have opened up rabbit hole of great music. They influenced every southern rock that came after them, even though they were out of California, which always blew peoples minds.
Chooglin is a form of guitar playing from the Deep South. Considering they were from Frisco they do it bloody well !!!!
CCR can not be overlooked. One of the best American bands ever. Great songs.
CCR is an American rock and roll band. One of the best.
Absolutely great song. No one reacts to this.
That's why I love this channel! There is no mountain of great music I will not climb :)
And there you have it! CCR!! Tooo long for radio. Thanks for listening !! SuzyQ is a great one for next CCR
Well, John did sing some softer songs. The only one I dislike is " centerfield" want to laugh? John was sued for Libel. Sounded to much like John Fogerty. He won that one😂😂. Janis Joplin at Woodstock too...
Recently one of the CCR songs actually made number 1. I'm not sure how they do it now with streaming. I think it was who'll stop the rain.
CCR is amazing any-genre classic songs like Who'll Stop The Rain, and they're acid rock like this, and John is incredible of course: singing, writing, and his still underrated guitar playing!
John Fogarty is still going strong!
That's amazing to hear. I can't imagine someone playing here would still be going this further down the line. But It warms my heart to hear it
Fogerty
Anything with Fogerty is gonna be good.
“Run through the jungle”, “Born on the Bayou”, and “Fortunate Son” are three of the greatest sons ever by CCR.
ccr is everything, anything, john fogerty is a legendary musician, vocalist, writer
They introduced the music world to swamp rock. Boy, did they do it well.
CCR is one of my favorite bands. Great video!
Thank you John! I'm glad you enjoyed. This was awesome!
When I put this on the turntable, I was what is this! Nobody played like this back in the day. TURN IT UP!🎸
What a treat for you Lee. Love CCR. My youth. I love the a swampy stuff like this the best with Johns voice and yes thats him on guitar. They are from northern California. Not the south as thought. What a talent. John still touring in his 70s. More local stuff.
They were nothing like you thought - all to the good! Great reaction, more Creedence!

Now this is a very long deep rabbit hole

Keep in mind, there was no video in 60's and early 70's. So, this performance was filmed liked every performance live back then. Great reaction
More CCR : try Green River, Commotion, Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen The Rain…
First rock album I ever bought was Bayou Country and this song changed my life forever. Had never heard anything like it at the time.
CCR was known for their 'swamp rock' sound. They had a huge number of big hits. All their songs are good. Many of their lesser-known songs are as good or better than their hits. They sound like they are from the South with that southern blues-rock style, but they are from El Cerrito, Ca.
OMG thank you.! CCR the BEST John rocks🎇🎇🎇💯
The CCR studio version of "Born on the Bayou" is the best Chooglin kind of song ever made.
Love Fortunate Son.
They played at some crazy time like 4am with few in the crowd awake IIRC. John tells of one fan yelling out support, like Love you, John! Search the story, he tells it often.
Swamp rock...blues...voodoo
I still find it hard to understand how CCR never had a number 1 hit.
CCR played a mix of rock, blues and country but mostly rock.
Within a 2 year stretch 1969/1970 they produced 5 albums and sold more records than the Beatles. Unfortunately, it all went pear shaped shortly afterwards. CCR was the sound track of the Vietnam War aka Fortunate Son, Run thru the Jungle and many more!!!
Thanks for getting off the radio hits.Great Band.Dig deep.Find Gold
He is still touring!! Go see John Fogerty. He wrote, sang and played lead guitar on all the CCR hits and has great solo stuff. Don't wait.
John is a LEGEND, was once sued by the record label for plagiarizing HIMSELF! He won the case but can you imagine being sued for sounding too much like yourself?
That is the most insane yet believable thing I've ever heard lol 😆
SUZY Q, RAMBLE TAMBLE, HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE,
GRAVEYARD TRAIN, I PUT A SPELL ON YOU, ARE A FEW. BUT SERIOUSLY, THERE ARE NO BAD SONGS FROM THIS ICONIC BAND.
GREAT THAT YOU GOT TO HEAR THIS SONG, ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVOURITES. GREAT REACTIONS 👏 ROCK ON MAN 👊🖖
Born on the Bayou is a must.

I don't have a favorite CCR song, I have 25 favorite CCR songs.
They did a lot of radio friendly stuff, but they could jam with the best. Never heard a bad song from them.
Especially found in Fillmore West and East in late 60’s early 70’s.
CCR were one of the best, virtually everything they did until the final album was stellar.... React to heard it through the grapevine and suzy q by CCR

Their revival album is the best.
All these guys sound like they came out if the swamps and bayous, which is fascinating because they all came from California. I think.
CCR covered a lot of territory, from psychedelic rock to folk to blues to r & b to rockabilly to country. Like a lot of other bands from the 60's, they really didn't stick to playing just one genre.
CCR is where YOU need to be. Just kick off with - 'Born On The Bayou.'
They do the absolute best version of I put a spell on you it's the best
CCR is a boogie jam band. Great for cruisin' down the highway.
Drummer never missed a beat - hard as shit to do for that long same with the bass
Most of their songs are what they call swamp music.
But they do a little rock and soul As well as boogy!
Saw Fogerty last year and he was awesome. Sounds and plays exactly the same AND uses the exact same guitar
If I'm not mistaken, CCR was the first band signed on for Woodstock.
This rocks so hard it choogles!!
keep on rockin’ the choog
They were in their own genre called swamp rock. Check out Born On the Bayou
Please note the sound of his guitar classic six string Rickenbacker
u got a lot of crazy good times coming with ccr
They became more mainstream. They could rock.
“You got to ball and have a good time.” 🎶
I used to sing this in my band in college about 1968
CCR has a lot of great hits!!
React to Canned Heat.Going up country live at Woodstock.
Along with janis joplin live at woodstock
Canned Heat is coming soon! Wait until May!
Fogrety has always been underrated.
Pagan Baby is a great CCR song to check out!
CCR kicks ass!!

I'm only part way through, but when you mentioned him, yeah I absolutely love me some Doug Clifford. Glad you're rolling with this.
Basic but rock solid...
