Hey, cars been running for 10 months straight with no issues. It was the ignition module. Dealer only fix. Was $950 ( new module, labor and programming). From everything I found out there is no way you can replace it yourself and it instantly work, you have to have them program it to the specific car. Before I did the repair I thought it was the ECM since in vida it wasn’t reading that module, I shipped it out to xemodex in Canada and they sent me a refurbished one with my data on it for $700. That cleared all the codes and issues but didn’t turn the car on. If your in the DFW area I can help out in person since I still have the dice and vida software. Also volvo will tow your car to the stealership for free for life. You just have to call Volvo of America.

It happened after parking directly at the sun?

No. It was just random. I already figured it out and fixed it. The ignition slot where the fob goes died and wasn’t reading the key. And somehow it caused the ECM to go dead and not be seen by the network. I had to get a refurbished ecm flashed with my OE software from by dead ecm and also take it to the dealer and get the igniter replaced.

Yes, it was the ignition switch. It wasn’t reading the fob so it never turned on. Dealer only fix. Sucked. They have to program it to the vin. In searching for the solution I found out it could be the BCM or the ECM. I got a vida/dice laptop combo to check my system and saw the ECM wasn’t communicating with the module network. I spent $700 sending out my ECM to get swapped to a working one from xemodex. After that the car network was fully working but just wouldn’t start. That’s when I had to give in and send it to a dealership after talking to a Volvo 3rd party repair specialist. He told me it was a dealer only fix. And it was.

So I got it all fixed up. First off the engine control module was not communicating at all. I shipped it out to xemodex and they informed me that they were able to read it and it was showing life but I still decided to get the software swapped to a refurbished unit ($700). Then when I got it back, no more dstc nor immobilizer but it just wouldn’t start. Got a diag from a 3rd party expert and he said the key ignition module was probably the culprit and sure enough got it swapped at the dealer and programmed. Part($300) diag (200), labor (300), programming (100) and taxes it came out to $1000. It’s a dealer only repair. Sucks. So if you have vida and all your modules are reading it could be the ignition module not reading the key and acting like it’s not the correct one. Or if the engine control module is the issue, ship it to xemodex. They can diag and for sure tell you if that’s the issue. Besides those 2 modules, your Bcm could also be the issue because it also hold the immobilizer info and Bcm are know to go bad.
