for us ricans this is sad to see, when i was enjoying those places was in the 1980s and they were exuberant with beauty and so many people crowed those areas, it feels like looking at the ruins of what it was once so beautiful,,,,😪
@@LifeTransPlanet i am jealous because as a Puerto Rican man i cant live in PR , I've been in USA for 23 years straight , i don't even use Spanish anymore , and even more shameful is , i don't even know if i can adapt to live in PR again, i will be 60 next year , as I'm looking forward to retirement i would love to go back to the island, but, I'm so scared, i think i will die in USA. I'm sorry, please, continue to enjoy PR as a lot of us would like to do but, are unable to do so.......
Thanks so much! I really don't know! I don't even know if they are natural or man-made. They seemed so perfectly round. Very peculiar! There were others in this canal too!
If had gone a little further down the road you would have found a launch spot for the kayak. The empty spray can is what espiritistas use for cleansing must likely someone went there and used the ocean for spiritual cleansing and used the spray for good luck afterwards. The image on the can is La Mano Sagrada.
Thanks for the info! Where about was the launch place for the kayak? Is it a dock or sand? We were pretty much at the end of the road I think. That's interesting about the spray! It smelled pretty good!
Thanks Ivonne! I was actually shocked how difficult it was to find an open bit of sandy beach! Every so often there should at least be a public open access point!
Yes, all beaches belong to the people of Puerto Rico and will ALWAYS be public for access regardless if their house is trying to block public access. No law enforcement can or will stop anyone from accessing those beaches.
Hey James! Not bad when we went, a few currents to fight but reasonably easy. If we could go from the first point we tried in the video it would be a super short trip, maybe 15-20 minutes paddling -an experienced person maybe 10. From the balneario it would be more like 30. We were in between those points at San Jacinto, but I wouldn't pay $20 just to leave from there again.
That was what we were thinking if we couldn't get out at San Jacinto. The problem was we'd have to carry it from the parking lot all the way over to the beach. The guard said there was no launch area since it was for swimmers, but there were no swimmers at the time so I think it would have been ok (just hard to carry that far).
The can is from Chan Feliu Laboratory Works, Inc which was located in San Juan, went out of business around 2014. Based on what little I could find I believe this was sold as marble floor and countertop cleaner. Hard to tell for sure without a better view of the label. The way people have come into PR and bought expensive beach front properties, pushing out locals and restricting beach access is a travesty!
Balneario Cana Gorda was NOT "blocked" by buoys. That is a floating swim line indicating the safest distance for swimmers. As an avid kayaker myself, any size kayak can easily glide over those swim lines. Also, just because the website says the beach is accessible during "normal business hours" it's not going to be due to repairs of the structures there. Therefore, any gated construction site will operate on construction time, not normal regular business hours. Lastly, most of the island is not "abandoned", most of the older structures were destroyed by back to back hurricanes Maria and Irma and very recent earthquake in September 2023.
The guard told us that we couldn't cross the buoys, but it seemed like it would be pretty easy to. If I were to do it again, I think I would leave from that balneario. It's nice to see they are doing repairs. Hopefully they take down the fence soon!
The bodies of water may be public, but if they shut off access to them with gates and fences it makes them practically private! And the one place charged us just to go out on the water even in our own little boat! Thanks for the nice wishes! We did have a great time overall! 😃
