- Shadow and Jackie were awake early Wednesday morning and were out and about after their busy work day at the nest the day before. Shadow began his day perched on top of the Stick Depot Snag tree. He stayed there for a while until he heard Jackie's call and responded back to her. Their chortles were so lovely, along with the beautiful morning mix of bird songs that could also be heard loud and clear in the forest.
Meanwhile, over at the eagle's nest, there were a couple of stunning Steller's Jays visiting. They've been seen regularly, popping in early to dig around in the nest fluff looking for buried treasures. They were busy snooping around but then they saw Jackie on her way in and they quickly high-tailed it out of there! Jackie arrived through the back porch as the sun was rising and just after Shadow left the Stick Depot Snag.
She immediately began wrestling with that large awkward-shaped branch she hauled in the day before. Shadow gave a valiant effort and did all he could to place the branch yesterday, but without much success. He gave it “the old college try” but when nothing seemed to work, he ended up just leaving it in the middle of the nest. Yes, even our favorite Stickman was having a bit of a time with this one!
Jackie managed to move it to the right side of the nest and mostly out of the way. Shadow must have heard all the construction noise happening at the nest and may have decided to check it out to see what was going on and maybe offer his beak to help. He brought a smaller, less complicated stick in with him and easily placed it on the front porch while Jackie was busy working.
Jackie had some noticeable feather bling on her beak from preening but as she worked it didn't seem to bother her. Some coyotes were heard howling off in the distance while Jackie continued to work and she just didn't seem quite satisfied with the placement of this stick yet.
Shadow stepped in to help and they both used their beaks together to try to snap off some smaller branches from the big tree branch but without much success. The stick was hidden by Shadow's body
but he must have been standing on part of the branch. We couldn't see the branch but Jackie suddenly looked as if she figured something out. She verbalized something to Shadow, then all of a sudden she just yanked that big branch upward in her beak and stood tall while Shadow appeared somewhat surprised by the forceful move. She laid the stick right down and that was that... done!
Seeming satisfied, Jackie moved to the front porch and perched there while Shadow was watching something intently out the back porch window. He took off and returned quickly with a new stick in his beak. They perched together for a little longer before both flew off. Perhaps they also built up an appetite and were off together for some breakfast down at the lake.
Even though a new clutch of eggs will not be laid again until the beginning of next year, the nest seems to be tidied up a bit now and it's taking on a nice circular form, with the larger guardrail sticks in place on the outside and some fluff and smaller sticks still remaining on the inside. The Steller's Jays came into the nest again for an early afternoon visit and had a little fluff and posing party as they enjoyed some sunning, digging and nibbling.
Jackie paid an evening visit to the top of the Stick Depot Snag and she stayed for quite a while before popping over to the Cactus Snag for a couple of minutes. She chortled loudly, likely calling out to Shadow, but she retired alone to the Roost Tree for the night. Fiona, the flying squirrel, stopped by overnight to pay a visit to the nest and it's always a special treat to see her!
Thursday was a fairly quiet restful day around the habitat. A few other local feathered friends visited the nest, perching and fluttering around in Jackie and Shadow's absence. A vocal raven spent some time hanging out in the basement of the nest tree and left without much disturbance.
Later in the evening, either Jackie or Shadow was spotted perched on the Stick Depot Snag tree. Whoever it was, they flew off to collect two sticks to add to their alternative nest which is located in this same snag tree.
As we wait for more visits from our favorite eagle pair, we hope you all enjoy a safe and wonderful weekend!

I just love watching Jackie and Shadow working together. Jackie is like, "Shadow, this mini tree has to go." Shadow replied back to Jackie, " Okay my darling, whatever you want." I just love them. Thank you, FOBBV, Mods, cam opps, and Sandy. ❤
❤
Good commentary 😊
I have such a soft spot for these two.
Beautiful birds, well matched 🥰
I just pray for this nest, poor Jackie last year went through one snowstorm after another incubating here babies and then for non of them to hatch. You could just see her sadness and then for it to happen again. You cold see the sadness in both of them. Just heartbreaking. Whoever says animals don't have feelings, I say they don't know what they're talking about!!
They absolutely have feelings!! If someone doesn’t believe it well it’s science! They have a limbic system in their brains! I agree! Love them! Enjoy and have a beautiful day!! 🦅❤️🦅❤️🥰
I love Jackie and Shadow. I miss seeing them everyday. Thanks for this video. 👍👍👍🦅🦅❤️❤️❤️
Oh my goodness ❤❤. They are so fun to watch together 🥰....LOVE hearing them making their "small talk" 💝
❤
I love amazing Jackie and Shadow, their gigantic nest, breathtaking view for BB Valley and amazing Sandy's stories ❤🤗 🌹 They're like lullabies before going to bed 😊 ✨ 🌿 🦅 🐺 🐿️ 🐦
Such a handsome couple...I love them!
Oh my! What a struggle . Glad they finally got the stick in the right spot. Loved the sound of the coyotes in the distance too.
Hi 👋
It's so beautiful. One early morning, I took my dad to an appointment for a procedure, and while I was waiting, I turned on Shadow and Jackie's live nest feed. Watched the sunrise with them lol it was so calming.
Hilarious! It's like watching an episode of Lucy and Desi! 😂
That is a big branch!
Pretty sight to start the day❤❤!
Their patience and determination is incredible to see...as is their teamwork, love and care for eachother.❤🦅🦅
P.s. that final stick placement was just amazing!
I love these beautiful birds. They are so graceful and seem so loving to each other. I pray they are fortunate to have chicks.❤
WOW, Jackie did some heavy lifting 💥
FINALLY Jackie decided to go one on one with that ornery stick. Guess she showed that uncooperative thing .Love them Thanks Cali.😅❤
They are the busiest pair I have ever seen. Got to love their dedication...
❤
Majestic inspiration. Peace to you Jackie and Shadow❤
Good luck for their doings!
🦅❤🦅
Watching this really makes you think about life. What is the meaning of our existence? Is this all there is, this day to day existence? Bringing sticks to the nest…..Are we meant to just be wherever we are and just “be”? Jackie and Shadow have their ups and downs as well, how are they dealing with it? What goes through their hearts and minds? So many things to think about. 🤔🤔
Yes, just Be Who You Are🤗 and Love It😍
We definitely learn a lot looking at the Book of Creation and their instinctive wisdom.
I thought Shadow was gonna lose his 💩 with that stick!
I'm gonna brush that branch right outta my nest...lol
She's like...."I just put it where I wanted it! But, Honey it does look good where you pruned it."
They are amazing animals!
зачет! красивая птица! у нас на юге России в районе Сочи тоже много Орлов ! и далее на хребтах кавказа !
How amazing to be able to watch these 2 beautiful creatures doing every day things. Fixing up the nest, talking a bit 😂 or arguing over where the stick should go. 😂. Its a treat to be able to see for sure. Very funny.
I love this channel, even in the “off season”. Thanks, as always, for the detailed description. You answered my question if it was coyotes I heard at around 05:26. Even Jackie and Shadow appeared to stop and listen for a few seconds 😄
How dare those stellar jays come use my home. I’ll show them!
Beautifully described! Thank you! ❤
I can always tell Shadows call .So destinctive
I love Shadows honk! It’s precious- Like him ❤️🦅
Sometime you have to admit getting a KingSize Bed just wasn't a good idea.
Shadow is a branch manager! 😅
Good one...love it
Love them so much!
Cleaning house is always so exhausting. 😆 Love that Jackie and Shadow are full partners in it all.
Thank you for the blow by blow description. I love Jackie & Shadow❣️
Eagle life: sleep, eat fish, work on nest. Repeat.
People's life: eating, going to work (attending classes) and eating, sleep
They know how to work together love watching them
Marvelous and Fantastic. Thank you..
Neat love it
There will be no "Normal " Eagle vacation this summer. This nest yr has just become next nest yr some months early. They are Together--In Spirit , in mind as well as physical closeness, as we just saw. Time has marched on from past two unsuccessful nesting attempts for our Eagle Pair. They are Nature driven to produce 'New Life ' here and this Fall, many of us will pick up and join their efforts as they work towards that only Goal that matters to them. The Odds favor them as no coastal E Nests(long and accurate records kept by dr. Sharp) have gone 3 yrs in a row without at least one Hatch to fledge success. Considering that they are both in mid life Eagle maturity cycle still, Here's hoping that Next nest season will be a "breakout" yr. with a 2 Egg hatch and fledge yr.
An Eagle Couple that never complains or quits and that the Odds finally favor deserve a turn at Nature's Eagle life cycle success in the new year coming up. May the Lord bless that effort put forth by his Animal servants who only work for one Thing--year after year.
I van use this on a loop all day long in the background
Hysterical❤
So funny, what he's doing with this "Christmas Tree"! 😂😘
Shadow the builder !
I feel sorry for Shadow , Jackie really showed him up ! Poor guy! She was telling him l ‘ move I’ve got this ‘. 😊Hope his confidence doesn’t get ruined ha ha good job Jackie! Love these two ❤
I can hear one of them❤
Me on a DIY project. No but seriously, it is amazing to watch them. I love them so.
still heartbroken over the failed clutch.......
❤
I’m so EXCITED!!!!🦅🦅
I'd have given up long ago, thrown it over the edge, and found a better stick. They are persistent.
Little OCD going on here!
Hi 👋 pretty lady how are you doing today and the weather condition like
"Honey, this broken floor lamp has no place here" !
Yesterday was the fishing event with fishes marked with tags. Those who caught them received $10k. If Jackie or Shadow had caught one or more, would FOBBY have received the prize? Or not? They weren't officially entered. Thank you for any information you have.
Today, on Eagle Nest Renovations, Jackie begins construction of a wall to help block the winter winds.
I think J&S are invested in multiple lake-front properties.
😂😂 these two crack me up.
Will they come back to have a new family??
They will definitely be back. This is their home and these two love birds are thriving and totally devoted to each other through good times and sad times ❤🦅🦅❤
They have returned to the nest every Fall thus far. We hope to see them begin their nestorations in earnest October/November as Jackie's favorite month to lay eggs is in January. Talons crossed!
Here i come to save the day!!! lol
🦅❤
❤🦅🦅❤🇺🇸
More fluff next season please Shadow...
I think a lot of it was freezing wind blowing under the nest there just wasn't enough insulation? I feel so bad for these 2. Hope weather is better next time ❤
Bald Eagles have over 7000 layers of feathers and a body temperature of approximately 105F. They are built for cold climates and are the most populous in Alaska. The eagles tolerate cold better than hot temperatures. Snow is an amazing insulation material. It limits heat exchange and stabilizes temperature.
❤❤❤❤
A wild life expert said the likelihood of eagles hatching and then surviving is about 9%. 😢
In love ❤with
With a stick of course
What's that sound at about 9:55? It seems to have distracted the eagle (J or S) in the foreground.
Like some kind of bird song
Coyotes...
@user-mg3xb6bw9f Thank you. I watched that part again and noticed that the eagle remained agitated after that sound. It kept looking around until it eventually flew off in the direction of that sound. I figured it had to be something kind of serious, and coyotes would certainly be serious! Thanks again for answering.
@user-mg3xb6bw9f- I’m no expert but cyotes sound more like dogs! I didn’t hear that. Maybe I’m wrong. Enjoy watching friend!! 🦅❤️🦅❤️
@edwardizhonig204 Thank you. At first, I thought it was another predatory bird. Maybe an additional suggestion will show up. Thanks again for your help.
Its funny how in last few years, they would almost NEVER visit their baby nest within the summer, just near matting season before Egg Time near Fall, is this Normal bringing as sticks Now or are they Doing this for too many Egg losses as coping mechanism??? 🌿🦅🦅💔💔🤔
Bringing sticks and nest building is part of their bonding process. They are compulsive nest builders and Eagles will often have multiple nests in their territory. Hope this helps!
😂😂😂😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️
Where are they now ?
During the Summer it is common to see less of them as they are enjoying the freedom of their Lake and Valley. Keep an eye on Cam 2 where they often pop in at evening time. Hope this helps!
Where are Jackie and shadow
This is their off season. They visit the nest periodically but since it is not egg laying season, they fly around Big Bear Valley.
Ok
Go Seahawks!!!
The large radiation originated from the WiFi camera 24/7 has to do with the streak of unhatched eggs for this couple. I have an EMF tester. I can tell you how bad the situation is up there.
This would be heartbreaking if we were actually contributing to their unsuccessful attempts for offspring, I pray this is NOT the case. If it is, I would unequivocally cede my opportunity to view this loving couple. 💔🙏🦅
so.. you’re saying you’ve climbed that tree to test it?
@@sileanastra I've tested EMF radiation levels around electronic equipment in all environments and situations. Hi-Res WiFi cameras are one of the worst. This is likely to be 2.4 GHz radiation. Very bad if you're that close.
Hello there. The nest camera is an Axis M5525-E model. It has no Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular connectivity or any other form or radiation. The signal is carried via a fully isolated cable. Hope this information was helpful.😊
@@CaliCondor Fantastic!! great news. Relieved to hear this.
