Sir why striker will jump when I give pressure....??? Some times it will run good after 1 game i can feel striker is getting up while realising
If your power applied gets more concentrated below the centre of gravity of the striker followed with an abrupt upswing while you flick your striking finger, this happens. I want to make a video on this aspect in future. Thanks 🙏
I push my index finger forward without any locking or pressure. is that a bad grip? is it better to use a locking grip all the time or only when you want power?
Dear Friend, if you are able to strike comfortably all round & u r enjoying it, so be it! Please continue to enjoy as u r going with the nature & above all being content with your game :-) If you feel u r not getting enough power then u might want to try "locking grip" & see what it gives; but again be intelligent enough to not try too hard if it is not working after repreated efforts.
Let me try to elaborate using my own case:-
I too have a common grip (index). And I had a long break from carrom & I reconnected with carrom recently. I continue to use the same grip. However I have started to add several variations which are still experimental in nature -
- trying to lock with ring finger when playing in the left half on certain shots as deep cuts, rebounds etc which seems to be working well (tried locking index with little finger but it is impossible for me except if try too hard taking a lot of pain, so a big No! No! for me).
- Using Middle finger for breaks & it works well for me.
- I tried using locking grip with middle finger as my striking finger too, it worked well on deep cuts even in opponent's half but overall it didn't, so I stopped.That is what I mean..
All I do, is try to add what works & discard what does not work to see if I can improve my game, but keeping the overall theme in tact i.e. to enjoy the game of Carrom! Cheers.

You are right partha. This is my very first video on youtube. I am sorry for the low sound. You will need to increase the sound locally on your computer or mobile. I don't feel you will encounter this problem with my next videos. Thanks for your feedback.
