After a heavy night on gold Shochu, it was finally time to explore Ikeshima, the abandoned coal mine island. Later the same day, we headed to some Yakuza ran talking bars to chat to some birds but ran into a bit of trouble the following morning. Labrador puppies saved the day.

It must be a weird feeling being scoped out by gangsters and sent 2 girls like that. Knowing that not only everything around you is fake and hollow but that it's all also looking at you behind your back. Someone less attentive to this criminal aura would have no idea that these might even be hostages of the Yakuza. They give me prostitute vibes, maybe that's what they're stationed for when the bar is low on visitors. Uncomfortable feeling for sure
It was a weird experience, but one worth having as it so embedded in Japanese culture!
They went to a hostess bar, look it up. They exist pretty much only in Japan. You go and drink while girls chat with you. They are paid by selling alcohol. There is a male version too called host clubs. Very interesting part of the culture, likely due to Japan having so many rules and so much loneliness. It's almost like going to a therapist in some ways. There's def a dark side though too... little sleep, lots of drinking, etc.
