PART 1
WHY?
Ephesians 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as
all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
KINDNESS IS LOVE IN ACTION.
WHY BE KIND?
1. BEING KIND IS COUNTER-CULTURAL.
Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into
a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you,
which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
2. BEING KIND IS COMMANDED BY CHRIST.
Matthew 22:36-39 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of
Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and
all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important:
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
John 15:12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
1 John 3:18 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by
our actions.
3. BEING KIND IS CHRIST LIKE AND OUR WITNESS TO THE WORLD.
John 13:34-35 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have
loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that
you are my disciples.”
