there is an interview given by RDJ in the 90's where he states that he sped his tracks up in order to fit more on a side of vinyl. in my opinion, for a person producing and composing electronic music, it makes more sense if he made it at this slower tempo, given all the syncopation that gets squashed at the higher speeds
does syncopation degrade with increase of tempo? this is an idea I am not familiar with however, this notion does seem to be plausible considering how much more syncopated this record is slowed down. I would attribute it to at a slower tempo, there inadvertently becomes more spacing between beats and notes hence forth making the already present syncopation really have more emphasis.
@@justinthorne1919 Well said, this is exactly what I meant. What might be perceived as having swing or a greater sense of groove, will approximate the grid more closely at faster tempos. In retrospect, my use of syncopation is not strictly correct since things that fall very much on the grid, as an evenly divisible fraction of the beat (very straight rhythms) would still be considered syncopation. For instance of what I was really driving at and what you so aptly said, if a hat hit happens 1/16th before the dominant down or up beats, the sense of syncopation scales to how much space that fraction actually corresponds to, so the same relative distance is felt more with greater space at the slower tempo.
"some people have said to me, do you make your tracks slow and then speed them up, which is funny to me, answer is no, the vibe would be totally different if you did that, Ive tried it, doesnt work for me, it would sound sped up, I make them at the speed they are, of course I do stare at and enter data in, speed set to zero , ha but thats it, tracks like mt sain michel st micahels mount off drukqs, im surprised i didnt have a heart attack when makin those tracks, i know i was in a total rush state for the entire time of making tracks like those, especially that one! But the idea that I have sped them up is funny because why would i want to do that? to make it seem more complex than it is? to make me feel more hectic than i was when making it? nah , it be would be fake."
Was listening to Bucephalus Bouncing Ball like this with my Come To Daddy EP the other day- his drum programming is so great it withstands it's structure at any speed or pitch.
Taped this off power fm dublin 1997 and it was the soundtrack to my life for so long after. I didn’t even know it was at 33rpm until about 2 years later!
Cool, glad someone uploaded this. It saves me the time of doing it. I recently purchased the Come to Daddy vinyl, was a little drunk and didn't know it was intended to be played at 45RPM. Most records are 33 1/3 RPM. I should have known when the first Come to Daddy track sounded a little off too. I thoght Richard just had different versions of Flim or the ones I listen to on youtube were sped up to bypass copyright protection.
This reminds me of the clock that used to sit in my great-grandmother's lounge. I'm a lost cause. An aristocrat without a ground. A dead sound font.
The day I found this song slowed down was by accident now I only play it at 33rpm. I remember showing this to people and letting myself close my eyes in front of them. A lot of nice moments shared with people to this sound.
Dude, how did you slowed this track without distortion ? I've been trying to do this with audacity but the song always have a weird sound after. I love so much this slow version, can you told me how you did it or maybe send it to me if it's a decent quality ? Thanks !

it's hard to conceive the notion that this song sounds not only acceptable, but superior in/at almost any speed/tempo/rhythm
I've always listened to Come To Daddy and Film at 33rpm......woops

flim was already one of my favorite songs, but now.. wow this is great.
indisputable
the first 50 seconds makes me want to cry
Somewhere at night overlooking the city skyline.
So dreamy
this is the best version of this song. hearing every individual sound at a heartbeat speed.
I never thought of listening to it slowed down

This was such a pleasant find on the vinyl, glad its out here for the whole world to hear
one of tha few rdj trax to swing (temporarily, at 1:16-1:21); beside 'cowcud is a twin' i cant think of any others lmao
i think diskhat 1 has some swing too if i remember correctly, but it's not as good as flim or cow cud
also Ventolin plain an gwarry mix , its very similar to 'cow cud is a twin'
there's some swing in windowlicker as well
that bit at the end, i didn't think it could get any sadder, I'm almost in tears, its so beautiful!!! 3:25
on rpt, yeh amazing
Really really nice. I absolutely love how the beats sound
I love it at this slower speed. It's even more adorable.
It sounds so nice slowed down :-)

Does anyone else get Metroid vibes from this song?
I get strong Final Fantasy vibes.

@@johnbean2596 aah shiiit there's no other way ?
@@eude6886 you could try ableton complex warp that usually works
Wait, if 33rpm is 66%, then original is 50rpm? Is that a thing? Genuine question. Would have expected 33rpm to be 75% of a 45rpm?
dom252 Correct. (45 - 33.33) / 45 = .2593. It is 25.93% slower, or 74.06% of the original speed.
***** Thanks for confirming. I was starting to wonder about all these 50rpm vinyls I'm missing... :P
Play it in 1.5 x speed
Play at 1.25
1:21

Is that Sample Vega from Street Fighter?
do you agree with him?
Something wrong with the song, set the speed to 1.5 to fix.
thanks man you're a life saver
you say its not pitched, but it is pitched :/
FavoriteBananaTWO Nope, same pitch. Speed is most definitely slowed..
It's not the same pitch, though.
It is the same pitch.
@@i2pjd6hRw5P I don't like how you bumped a 4 year old comment but yes this is definitely pitched, y'all are tone deaf
@@FavoriteBananaTWO I just re-listened and it's definitely pitched idk what I was thinking. & I just wanted to remind you of this track bro :(
