2:40-2:46 is possibly one of my most favourite ever leads to ever be put into a guitar solo. Fuck it. The whole dual solo is one of the sexiest things I've heard. This song is FUCKING great.
ua-cam.com/video/fchSTOgOMjk/v-deo.html this is IMO at least in top 10 dual guitar solos ever. I love the sick bendings that the two guitars do at the same time on different tones and still manage to nail it down! A song with epic delay effect / second guitar solo is Crystal Shark - Shadow Squad. However I cannot give you a link for it. Your best bet is downloading the "VA Absolute Power Metal Compilation" I found it from.
Ehhh. I thought Shogun was far better. This shit was way too nu metal for me to really like. Musically it ain't bad. Just sounded too much like other bands back then.
@@thedude8526 You have no clue what Nu Metal was, do you? Like.. it's okay if you don't. But then don't compare shit to it. Nu Metal was Korn, Limp Bizkit, Static-X, POD, Orgy, Staind, etc. it was very hip hop influenced, big heavy dropped tuned guitars, heavy on the simplicity of their riffs and catchy hooks to appeal to a broad audience that didn't rely on solos and the like. This is early Metalcore if you want to put a genre to it. Some metalcore bands started with a nu-metal influence - but Trivium is not one of them - they very obviously took their influence from European metal bands such as Maiden, In Flames (before they became terrible), as well as obviously Metallica, Megadeth, and other 80s thrash bands. Just saying.
@@thedude8526 obviously you’re not. Nu Metal is very specific - so see your way out of the conversation since you really have no clue if you ever thought this was “nu metal”
Just saw Trivium live on Tuesday and it was amazing. Going to see them again in 2 weeks. We all get old, just enjoy the show. Matt put on an amazing show and I can't wait to see him again. Things change, we all change. I'm just glad they didn't change to sucky. Salute everything.
first concert was OzzFest, the year that Trivium was there and they played this song, i was 10 then, now im almost 19 and i still love hearing this song!
it's funny how metal elitists slag these guys off. I would take these guys over the likes of Slayer or Canibal Corpse any day. More melody, more diversity of songs.
musiicans inspire to change they grow as an band,if they were to stay the same would people react the same or different who knows?when i listen to trivium i can feel the passion in the lyrics matt sings and how the band come together in their videos and albums they produce its not easy making music and getting accepted even singing solo is harder they do wat they love and why should we judge them for trying to make a difference we love you trivium
I remember getting this album and the Roadrunner United All Star Sessions album when I was 11. Even though I'm not a fan of what Trivium have been writing recently I'll always respect them for being one of my gateways into Metal when I was a kid.
@ErrectifiedPeePee Of course. When you're actually singing, the straighter you can get your upper torso, the easier it'll be to sing. True singing come from the gut. You have to push the air up with your stomach and only use your throat to alter the sound; you should never push with your throat.
I was in 7th grade when this video came out I cant believe they are still going strong but they are and they are awesome live omg I saw them with lamb of god gorjia and machine head awesome fucking show
I don't know about you guys, but hearing ascendancy and all the fucking godlike songs on it, In Waves is missing something. I don't know what it is, but it is missing that last thing that makes your mind blow. There is a couple of songs that made my mind blow on In Waves, but that's it. In Waves missed that last little thing that i can't describe. : (
@superdong666 Agreed, "A Gunshot to the head of Tredipidation" was the first song i've ever seen Trivium perform in Concert. This song is so unique with the non screamo parts along with the rythem, yet ALL OF MATT'S Screamo is amazing and METAL, I can NOT complain, same with you I am guessing ;D
I've got a question... Do these guys have anything against Christianity in any way? I'm a Christian, and I shouldn't dabble in such things, but I love Trivium's music so much, but then I saw the pentagram on Matt's back... Don't get me wrong, I respect every religion, but I still have my own. Anyone answer, much appreciated :)
the pentagram, contrary to popular believe has absolutely nothing to do with satan. its more along the pagan lines, which deals in harmony and peace, although its normally the pentacle that represents harmony theres nothing "evil" about the pentagram itself, just the media likes to portray it as such. trivium isnt doing anything sacreligious in any way so dont worry bout ti
@fingerskate08 awsome as i lay dying is my favorite band and i love disturbed and trivium man u really lucky in my country there are necer concerts like those :s
BrainSeepsOut everyone keeps saying that, and i honestly think they looked better. it dosent matter though, they SOUNDED better and thats what matters most
+Timothy Grace Matt Heafy admitted he didnt like it because it just wasnt who he is as a person. He just had to do it from the label company. I agree with him, seeing these older clips just feels kind of awkward.
Not much has actually changed about their image. just cut their hair and no more eyeliner. they still wear the pentagram vests on stage quite often lol.
I remember a message at the Trivium World page looking for people avaiable for working as extra for the recording of this video. Interested people should presented at certain location at that very moment. I regreted no to live at the same city
I think I read that Matt Heavy is an atheist... Well still, I can't resist their music :D And yeah, there's a lot of controversy with it. In the beginning I think it represented the five wounds of Christ, then the spiritual circle, and then came all the other things xD I really don't have anything against any of that, just really curious. Thanks for the answer bro :)
Okay,so a couple things. 1) To the best of my knowledge no the band has no particular religious leanings. 2) The pentagram or pentacle predates christianity by a good 3000 years give or take. it most commonly represents the unity of five elements 3) Though the Slipknot sigil is a nine pointed star, they have several shirts that use a more traditional pentagram. 4) Don't paint yourself into a box, if you like the music great, it doesn't mean you share all of the artists views.
@havoc2431 have to agree completely with that! seen them a few times now latest being in nottingham earlier this year, just keep getting better and better ;)
2:40-2:46 is possibly one of my most favourite ever leads to ever be put into a guitar solo. Fuck it. The whole dual solo is one of the sexiest things I've heard. This song is FUCKING great.

Trivium has the best guitar solos in the metal world! Do not argue with me.
Thats a joke right?
jacques mostert Maybe not the BEST solos. But still pretty good compare to 90 % of others bands. IMO too
madmexican1002 trivium has damn good solos, but they don't really even compare to some of the stuff metallica and pantera have to offer
John Ross Agreed, Id throw Arch Enemy on that list also
Yep, they do.
Very solid guitar work on this song...
Matt Heafy was 19 when ascendancy came out, so i would imagine he changed a lot.
This song has some god-tier instrunental section. Actually, the whole song is god-tier.
Been so long since this came out. Really fantastic how albums like this never get old, still listening
holy shit. completely forgot about this jam...so epic
Angry teen days. Hahaha !
ASCENDANCY ABOVE ALL! (I dont say other albums sucks, I love all of them, but this is the mos enjoyable for me)
i jam ascendancy on an everyday basis i love all trivium but this shit hit my sweet spot
Yes me to
Ehhh. I thought Shogun was far better. This shit was way too nu metal for me to really like. Musically it ain't bad. Just sounded too much like other bands back then.

these guys are definatly the best band iv heard live!!
the first song i heard, still my favourite
Gotta love when both guitars and the bass are in a circle for the harmony after the solo
Man, Matt can rock almost any look.
first concert was OzzFest, the year that Trivium was there and they played this song, i was 10 then, now im almost 19 and i still love hearing this song!
it's funny how metal elitists slag these guys off. I would take these guys over the likes of Slayer or Canibal Corpse any day. More melody, more diversity of songs.
me and the band finally learnt to play this song together sooooooooooooo happy
musiicans inspire to change they grow as an band,if they were to stay the same would people react the same or different who knows?when i listen to trivium i can feel the passion in the lyrics matt sings and how the band come together in their videos and albums they produce its not easy making music and getting accepted even singing solo is harder they do wat they love and why should we judge them for trying to make a difference we love you trivium

We've all got that one band, it was Slipknot for me, Wait & Bleed. That was it, I was reborn.
fuck man. Corey and Matt are a SICK guitar duo. This song fucking rocks.
Thank you for your enlightenment. Im a christian too and i love trivium.
A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation sis with out a doubt my favorite song by Trivium
One word describes this video: TALENT!
The transition at 1:39 gives me chills like never before when sitting in a dark room with this bursting through my headphones.
he's only 25 and has so much more to give cant wait for yrs to come!
this band is the real shit i listen to all kinds of music but this is my fav band by far there is noone like them and there nvr will be
I still can't believe these guys were so talented at such a young age...!
Matt's Solo: 2:40-3:53
No more waiting, 02:14 best part
Listening in quarantine 2020 \m/

God damn this band has grown so much, just just musically but physically.
Matt changes his appearance every year I swear
Awesome breakdown at 3:10...
+Ignismei It's a solo,not a breakdown...
+Ángya Norbert it's a dual guitar harmony
Not a solo or breakdown
Still headbang for this.
good sir that drumset does not simply just kickass its a combination of fucking amazing and kickass
Saw these guys on my 15th bday lol Mayhem was the best thing to ever happen to me
1:23 Don't hit yourself =(
I was in 7th grade when this video came out I cant believe they are still going strong but they are and they are awesome live omg I saw them with lamb of god gorjia and machine head awesome fucking show
Gosh that sounds like a fucking killer lineup
to make it more acceptable for the mainstream. NO they did NOT sell out. just getting their shit out there and it worked. sick as always
@llEpidemicll it was that other guy...Mushroomhead is metal for sure...and I love them.
2:40 i feel like i’ve heard that somewhere before but don’t know what it’s from
The other best trivium song!!!!!
So glad I found this song again
Very good live band.
I LOVE TRIVIUM
I remember watching this on Headbangers Ball.
The days those were....
I don't know about you guys, but hearing ascendancy and all the fucking godlike songs on it, In Waves is missing something. damn i covered this song with my friend in high school and that was so many years ago
@trignite because this so awe inspiring it can only leave us speach-less
Literally the first song i listened to atleast a decade ago...and still fucking epic
I love the Random Harmony after epic solo
It's sad they cut so much out of the video, compared to the album. :[
I saw these guys at a slipknot concert last year and they were amazing
holyfuck is it only me or matt looks exactly like the kid in the grudge movie in this.....?
The guitarist with the long hair is FINE!!
So badass
Good old teen days 😭
you haven't listened to trivium, until you've seen them live. \\m//
Classic chorus.
Is it just me or does old trivium sound way better than new trivium?
Absolutely. All albums till In Waves are amazing, except The Crusade. Metalcore/Trash Metal classic.
It is hard seeing Matt without any tattoos.
@GANDHIWANTCANDY I just did, and I complimented both drummers. they are both amazing
Trivium forever
they are gods of metalcore :D
I've got a question... Do these guys have anything against Christianity in any way? I'm a Christian, and I shouldn't dabble in such things, but I love Trivium's music so much, but then I saw the pentagram on Matt's back... gotta love the side burns
A metalcore guilty pleasure.
That's cool bro, thanks for the help :)
HEADBANGERSBALL!!!
oh god the thought of JonTron fronting a metal band is one of the funniest mental images I've ever had
the pentagram, contrary to popular believe has absolutely nothing to do with satan. its more along the pagan lines, which deals in harmony and peace, although its normally the pentacle that represents harmony theres nothing "evil" about the pentagram itself, just the media likes to portray it as such. trivium isnt doing anything sacreligious in any way so dont worry bout ti

Trivium: The Awkward years (I'm talking about their image)
BrainSeepsOut everyone keeps saying that, and i honestly think they looked better. it dosent matter though, they SOUNDED better and thats what matters most

true
+BrainSeepsOut Corey never changed through years)
1:28 : i am vegaaaan
What have you done...
Idk why he thinks he sucks at singing. I think he's a kickass singer!
@TheJosh142 Yep, there' a legit goat head tutorial right there. I watched it...i wonder if goat head curry goes well with Trivium.
I remember a message at the Trivium World page looking for people avaiable for working as extra for the recording of this video. Interested people should presented at certain location at that very moment. I regreted no to live at the same city
Thanks bro, that's great advice :) I did some reading on pentagrams and stuff, I'm starting to like it xD
best...solo...EVER!!!
pure awesomeness
Q grandes!
Children of bodom and trivium have insane solos in my opinion
They look so damn young!
Shogun was a fantastic album...
Might be true but Trivium did release their debut album 2 years before BFMV did.
Matt looks great with short hair
Metal is Trvium, not the other way round. -_-
I think I read that Matt Heavy is an atheist... Well still, I can't resist their music :D And yeah, there's a lot of controversy with it. Mat almost looks like Wolverine in this video
Yes
@xizombiex the riff at 1:00 ? if so, no that is completely different
Gibson Les Paul Supreme Alpine White with EMG pick-ups ftw ^^
Sooo sick!!
4) Don't paint yourself into a box, if you like the music great, it doesn't mean you share all of the artists views.
i actually like the short hair.... i love this song
I really like this song, the drums and solo's especially. The whole stand ina circle and play guitar thing is strange tho.
@havoc2431
have to agree completely with that! seen them a few times now latest being in nottingham earlier this year, just keep getting better and better ;)
The pentagram on the back of his shirt is from an old Emperor shirt. I know this cos I owned the same shirt when I was a teenager.
@LyricsandCandy you got that right! :P
@havoc2431 I haven't listened to trivium since I've seen them live
