Years after watching the first time, I think there's something Patrice was missing about the food thing. He probably just didn't remember the details from the book so he couldn't articulate it well. Besides all the drugs and hormones that can sit in the body for a long time, stress and other issues in the body are caused by different chemicals the body produces. I'm not a doctor, but the human body might absorb these chemicals and become stressed out itself. That's not mentioning the preservatives, antibiotics, roundup in the feed for the animals, and whatever other crap the factory farm decides to pump the animal full of before it arrives on your plate. It's just a big lump of pink flesh until you put it under a microscope.
Patrice was truly ahead of his time. There have been studies done in the recent years about what cortisol, a stress hormone, does to animal meat and what its consumption does to humans. As well as how shady the USDA and other food agencies are/have been.
