The point is that none of us can do anything, because we don't understand what's going on. Why not? Because the academics we look to as authorities on such matters, haven't a clue either, because stuck in a pre-Darwinian dark age. We are an animal which evolved, not just physically, but also behaviourally, in a very different environment from the one we now live in, and if we want to understand ourselves and our situation, we have to do so from this, evolutionary, perspective.
Unfortunately, a previous generation of academics made a taboo of doing precisely this, in overreaction the Nazis having embraced and abused, for their own evil purposes, the half-baked ideas of social Darwinism.
