I always find it really funny when people say they didn't know Britain had beaches, I mean, Britain is an Island, surrounded by coastlines, and of course beaches 😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Even funnier is that SO many British people don't realise that the BEST beaches in the UK are actually around Scotland... Miles of pure WHITE, soft sand and due to the climate, the least occupied by tourists - sometimes just empty or with a few people dotted around! You only have to put into 'Google Images' the phrase "Scotland's white, sandy beaches" and you get an idea! It includes many of the Scottish islands too. Maybe one of the UK's best kept, yet obvious 'secrets', perhaps? 🤔 😅 😂 🤣
@@stewedfishproductions7959 I think most of us here realise you have lovely beaches (maybe matched by some in Cornwall and Wales) but the weather is
a problem it's why they are empty and the sea is freezing! But that aside you have a beautiful country and you are blessed with that beauty! I'm Welsh😀😀
No British person is more than 70 miles from a beach.
@@Sophie.S..The funny thing is, a Brit: I'm 70 miles inland. Literally as far away as you can get from the beach. Might as well be living in inner Mongolia. An American: I live on the coast. Just 70 miles from the beach. 😂
Every Brit watching could give a case for their own Top 25 sites within 50 miles of their home. We have a wealth of history in our landscapes and all areas have merit.
I was thinking of other places within Britain that were not mentioned such as Yorkshire, Oxford etc.. but you're quite correct, when I think closer to home, Bath, Chedder, The Somerset flats, Wells cathedral, Maesbury castle (just a round lump in the dirt now, but still...) and of course the sunrise or sunset from the top of Glastonbury Tor, Dartmoor, Exmoor, The New forest, Stonehenge, Avebury, I mean the list of historic and/or noteworthy areas is endless and as you say, most within 50 miles of home.
I definitely agree with that statement. I was born and raised in the Scottish Borders so I can say that you've got places like Edinburgh, Glasgow, all the 4 Border abbeys; Melrose, Jedburgh, Kelso and Dryburgh. You've also got smaller tourist attractions like Mary, Queen of Scots house in Jedburgh and you've got lovely coastal towns like Berwick-upon-Tweed. There's also the obligatory shout-out of my hometown of Peebles.
100% we live on a small island in comparison to some countries. But I never get bored of it. There are still so many places I have not explored. Scotland and Ireland have been neglected in comparisons to England and Wales.
50 miles was too big so I checked out a radius of 25 miles from my home. Downton Abby(Highclere Castle), Watership Down, The White Horse at Uffington, Avebury stone circle/Silbury Hill,West Kennet Longbarrow, The Ridgeway, Lovely bits of The Thames, Henley, Oxford, Winchester, Lots more scenic downland, Quaint villages everywhere, and swindon.
I don,t understand why so many people love the Lake district,I went up there and I found it Grim, Bleak and depressing,Its not the the best countryside in Britain,i,ve seen much nicer places.Lake district is a shithole.
I’m English but I’m so proud to be British and I love our Scottish, Welsh and Irish brothers and sisters! And our British isles are beautiful. Good video thank you

sure you're even British?? you don't even know the difference between Ireland and northern Ireland FFS,you didn't mention northern Ireland but instead mentioned Ireland ..eh??
He didn't mention a distinction because it wasn't necessary in that description I assume?? Nothing in that comment hints at a lack of understanding and doesn't require a political analysis@@boredweegie553
@@boredweegie553 The British love the Irish, in both the North and South. It may be a surprise to a lot of people, but we’re not the 1% of the elites from hundreds of years ago.

Yes, it really looks like that. As an American who has been to the UK 70+ times, I can honestly tell you that you can spend a year there and never see everything there is to see. The last trip was to London, the Lake District and the Peak District. We loved all of it and really wish we had spent four nights in the Peak District instead of one.

Lots of comments saying there is so much more not on the list but I just wanted to say the guy who made the video you are reacting to did such a great job.
His footage is excellent, shows where everything is on the map, goes over the history - a very good job indeed by that young man. Bravo.

I totally agree the North East never gets a mention we have the best beaches castles Hadrians wall Alnwick castle which was in the Potter films And the most friendly people. But I will say he showed some amazing places please save the green belt
I'm going to Northumberland tomorrow to visit the family. It's Britain's biggest secret ❤️
Northhumberland is UK best kept secret. Its beaches and landscape is beyond description for the British Isles. Visited both places and also other places in that area too. Its stunning.
Northumbrian born and bred here! Grandparents lived in tynemouth so I grew up on the Longsands. The shuggy boats were a particularly epic memory. 😊
I'm so sad that it's gone now because Sycamore Gap was my absolute favourite place to go. As a native to the area who has done a full circuit of the UK and coming home a couple of years ago, there's nowhere better in England.
Watching Americans react to the beauty of the British landscape makes me appreciate it all the more. When you think the whole of the British isles could more or less fit into one US state area-wise, the diversity of our landscapes towns, cities and villages, as well as our accents and cultures is really fascinating. It's a national disgrace the government has allowed water companies to pump raw sewage on to our wonderful beeches and rivers...
The natural beauty is preserved by laws forbidding housing and development of any kind on the most
beautiful places. Of course there are town, and beaches, etc. where you will find the usual sea side

I'm British and watching this made me well up, espeically at Snowdonia, what a lovely place we live in and we often don't appreciate it!
Agree 100%!
It's quite humbling to watch other peoples reactions to the British Isles when you live here and take it for granted. I know there's a lot to complain about government & economy wise (let's not even go there) but we shouldn't let it overshadow how beautiful the actual land itself is.
Stunning, absolutely stunning!!
You could do a entire top 25 video for just ONE part of the isles - be it Ireland , Wales , England or Scotland. This video just skims the surface. There is SO much more !!

Most Brits only need to drive an hour or less to find a beach and centuries old Churches, Castles and buildings are everywhere, We are so lucky to have so much on and around our beautiful UK.
Unless you live in Northampton...
I live 10 minutes drive from a church that is almost 1400 years old and housed 2 saints. A further 5 minute walk to a beach painted by LS Lowry. 20 minute drive from a UNESCO world heritage Cathedral. However its grim up North so don't come we like to keep it for ourselves ;P

@@BoomsRiddico4868 if you do some Geography research, you will find that the island of Ireland (which includes the Republic and N. Ireland) is part of the British Isles along with about 6,000 others. Try googling "What is the second largest island in the British Isles?"
A lot of Americans don’t realise we have beaches 😂, they see scenes like Dover and the high rocks of Scotland and think that’s how it is around the whole island.
Plus people focus on London when thinking about the UK, so don't give beaches a second thought.
Have to wonder what they think we're surrounded by, considering we are an island nation
I can't believe they don't know how many beaches we have! We're an island!
Americans realize nothing outside the bubble they live in . They are the most willfully ignorant people on the planet. Most of them never leave their home state never mind the country.
To be fair, Americans associate beaches with hot weather and that's something that most British beaches don't experience very often. Beautiful, yes, great for lying on the sand, but 10 months of the year you're not doing a lot of swimming.
My dad got an American friend and told him to visit certain castles here and he’s in love with them. Amazing history going back so far
I’m glad you find my country beautiful. It truly is a magical place to live.
This is my Country of which I am so proud and which I love so much. These wonderful places are only a handful of the amazing sites that you will find across the British Isles. So many British people don’t know anything of these, they prefer to jump on a plane and head off to lie on a Mediterranean beach and spend all night in a club, they don’t know what they are missing but probably wouldn’t appreciate them anyway. He mentions the south east, Cornwall and Lake District but hardly any other part of England. Just to throw in a few Dartmoor, Exmoor, The Cotswolds, Shakespeare country, East Anglia, the Peak District, The Yorkshire Dales and Moors, Northumberland, the Scottish Lowlands and many more…..you’ll never see them all on one holiday trip.

As a Brit some places not on there but worth a mention are Bath - the architecture is beautiful there and they have the Roman baths, the Peak District - a wonderful, unique scenic area, the Cotswolds - also a beautiful scenic area and home to some old villages and Cannock Chase - again a beautiful, natural area.

I love how the person reacting really was enhanced by what there is in Britain. Britain have an extremely rich history and I'm sure that every one of the 69 million Brits can name 10 beautiful places within 40 miles of their home, Britain is normally thought of the cities like London and many tourists only visit London but there's so many more things to do and to see!
I still remember my parents taking my sister and I on a walk along Old Harry Rocks, we were 8 and 6 and it was a 5 hour hike. It was torture but when we finally saw the view it so special. I will never forget that.
What are you talking about we are an island and you thought we didn't have Beaches?
Just shows how ignorant, uneducated and arrogant some Americans are. As you say an island it’s in the title around the British Isles
It's unbelievable how many people think that lol🇬🇧
Lol
😂
We don't have beaches we have beautiful beaches
It’s rare one is allowed to be proud as a Brit. But here, I am
Well I have never bowed to peer pressure.. I’m proud to be English ..👍😂🏴🏴🏴🏴🇬🇧
@@Ionabrodie69
Totally agree, another proud Englishman here .
and yet you didn't notice the glaring obvious fact that Ireland & Northen Ireland aren't part of the British Isles !
It's a miracle that this guy managed to get to all these locations in beautiful weather, and it only took him 8 years to do it lol
The Skellig in Ireland was where Star Wars episode 8 was filmed with Luke and Rey.
Been to lake district beautiful place to go Philip from Newcastle England 🏴
Those hexagonal rocks of the Giant's Causeway are made of basalt and are formed from volcanic eruptions.
There are many examples of those rrock formations all around the world including Scotland, Australia and America too.
Big Ben is actually the name of the largest bell in the tower, and the tower itself used to be called St Stephen's Tower, but in 2012 it was renamed Elizabeth Tower, in honour of our late Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her Golden Jubilee.. that celebrated her 60 years as our Queen.
The "Durdle Door" limestone arch looks like a dragon drinking water if viewed from the seaward side.❤
I’m Welsh and the country I live in is WALES not WELLS! It’s a beautiful country, often sadly overlooked.
His pronunciation annoyed me so much! Also, citing the whole of Wales as a top 25 pick is ridiculous.
@@Amy-eo4md exactly what about the Brecon Beacons, Portmeirion, The Gower Peninsula, our many Reservoirs (often created by flooding towns or villages to provide water to England), our many Mountains (including Snowdonia) and our stunning beaches to name a few!
Glad I read your comment first, I won’t bother watching now. ☺️
Watching him react to the lake district is so wholesome
I'm English, but my favourite part of the UK is the Elan Valley in mid Wales. The dams and lakes are stunning.
I hundred percent agree i live in mid wales and it’s my favourite place to be
I love the Elan Valley! Beautiful. Proud Scot, but I do love Welsh scenery. :0)
It's a shame the video didn't take in more of Wales, Snowdonia is beautiful but just a drop in the bucket. Personally Portmeirion is in my worldwide top 10.
I've heard quite a few people say they never connected Britain and beaches as if it isn't an island paha XD
New to your channel but been loving your reactions so subbed :) keep up the good work :)
You made me smile, having lived or visited most areas in the uk, we do have an absolutely beautiful island and it’s so green because we have so much rain but when the sunshines we all love it so much!
Oh the famed Isles of "Skilly"... Always brings a tear to my eye.
Not a mention of northern England Lancashire/Yorkshire/Northumberland all missing, oh well, we can keep these for ourselves.
It’s always the way with these sorts of lists. They get all the countries on the list but seem to forget that England extends beyond the south. The quintessential image of England with thatched cottages and rolling hills isn’t the England I identify with, that’s the moors and mills of the north!
@@ams1897We do have thatched houses in the north too 👍
Yes, don't come to Northumberland. No history, beaches or castles. You will be bored stiff!
@@Ionabrodie69 Didn`t say we don`t, but it hasn`t ever really been the architectural style of this part of the country. The point I`m making is that the quintessence of England is heavily skewed towards the South, more specifically the South East. Hard to argue with that.
As a North Yorkshire lass, how can you not show York?! Sure York Minster, the Viking history? Or the golden coast of Scarborough, Whitby, up to beautiful Northumberland? It’s ok, we’ll keep it all for ourselves😂✌️🇬🇧
Proud to be British ... Proud to call this beautiful country my homeland
and yet you didn't notice the glaring obvious fact that Ireland & Northen Ireland aren't part of the British Isles !
Skipped over wales here. I have had so many hols in wales its a fantastic place with so much to see and do. V friendly too
The Lake District is a stunning place and a perfect location for those that love to hike. It’s where I spend most of my hiking days with it being quite local to my neck of the woods. Definitely a place to visit 👍🏼
My favourite place on earth
To answer your question about Northern Irish / Irish border...After the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, all checkpoints were gradually removed with the last being dismantled in 2006, and now you hardly notice when you go over the border except that the signs & road markings change. A completely open border is a critical part of the peace process, and was the reason why Northern Ireland was so often at the centre of the Brexit negotiations.
before internment, there were no border posts either. you notice the prices are in euros, before they were irish punts,
As the Republic of Ireland is in the European Union kilometers are used. Northern Ireland uses miles.
@@georgesibley7152.Sterling in Northern Ireland
@@brianferris8668 I know I i was referring to the fact that when crosses from Northern Ireland to Eire the main difference you see are the prices are in euros (and the signposts have garlic).
We to not speak 'garlic or gaelic in Ireland...the language is IRISH. They speak gaelic in Scotland. The level of ignorance is astounding.
Lived in Scotland all my life, and I've only been abroad once. I don't feel the need because I can find so many beautiful new places in my homeland 🏴🏴🏴
Travelled up to Scotland for the first time about 6 yrs ago and not stopped since so beautiful and great people 😊
@@jacquiburrows2120 yeah, most of us are nice lol.. and most of Scotland is amazing, especially around the lochs and mountains.
@Shroomanoidz omg the lochs and Highlands blew my mind we travelled up in a motorhome and because wild camping is allowed in Scotland we stayed in the most amazing places
@@jacquiburrows2120 yeah, the right to roam law is amazing. We can go anywhere we like, and that's how it should be. I used to stay in a town called Dumbarton, and there is crags and hill walks there that are absolutely beautiful. I used to go running up the hills when I was younger, and there are some breathtaking views up there. The lochs are great. And loch Lomond is not far from Dumbarton too. I loved staying there. I live in Edinburgh now.
I have visited Scotland a few times l love Fort William Glasgow stirling scone loch lomond and the trossachs.
so happy to live in the lake district, born there and not left!! so beautiful
I live about 5 minutes from the Seven Sisters and it truly is stunning! especially in the summer
ALL of us, Sassenachs, Scots, Welsh, Irish, Cornish and Ulstermen, all feel we are independent people, but live together on our Islands. It takes all of us to protect our Islands from encroachment.
What's the difference between Ulstermen and Irishmen?
Irish are the majority in Ulster, Munster, Leinster, Connacht.

Not a british isle.
Im glad we all live in close proximity and within cities!
It keeps the beautiful picturesque countryside looking good 👍
What a brilliant video, I really enjoyed watching that! I walked the length of Great Britain several years ago, and I was totally astounded by the beauty of our wonderful little island. I've hardly been abroad since, all of my most recent adventures have been exploring the British Isles.
Lovely places here in the u.k. look into our ancient cathedrals especially canterbury , yorkminster and Westminster Abbey . Your jaw will drop they are stunning inside and out . 😊
Canterbury Cathedral is just awe-inspiring - how the heck did they build it?!
The UK (Scotland England Wales and Northern Ireland) along with the Republic of Ireland, share a common travel area. Before Britian left the EU there were no customs on Immigration checks between the UK and Ireland (you might be asked to provide ID to board a plane etc). It has been problematic since and a customs boarder now runs down the Irish Sea meaning the UK has an internal customs boarder. This prevents the need for a border between the two Irelands. There is a real fear that a border between the two could reignite 'the troubles' .
As an Englishman, it was so cool seeing how surprised and full of awe you were about the British Isles.
and yet you didn't notice the glaring obvious fact that Ireland & Northen Ireland aren't part of the British Isles !
@@BoomsRiddico4868 I noticed the stunning places in the British Isles and made my comment on that. I didn’t realise I had to point out his error in geography 😉
@@EpicMotorcycleAdventures i just pointed out how you didn’t notice the obvious error in the subject matter
I live in Northern Ireland, about a mile from the border. You can drive on through with no problem, the biggest indication that you crossed the border is that the design of the road signs changes. A lot of people nip across to fill their cars because the fuel prices are slightly cheaper down south. 😄
The biggest hiccup might be the fact that the UK left the EU, which the Republic of Ireland is part of. Still remains to be seen how that'll be worked out.
The West Highlands and the Isles are simply stunning and motorcycling heaven ❤
Welsh girl here. I live about 3 miles from the coast, in a valley surrounded by mountains...and it always rains! We're very lucky to have such a beautiful country, and we're used to the rain.
It doesn't always rain! Occasionally, it snows!
I'm lucky enough to live an hour away from the Lake District. We go there all the time. It never stops being beautiful.
Me too!
This was so sweet to watch, your face on each of the new locations.

- The Peak District - England
- Pembrokeshire - Wales
- Solway Firth - England/Scotland
- Northumberland - England
- Killarney National Park - Ireland
