This was still early in the show, song #3. You have already seen what they looked like at the end (Wish I Had an Angel). Doesn't matter to me if it is Tarja or Floor singing this, it's Marko's small touch that makes this song for me.
Again, this video is bittersweet to watch as Tarja had no idea what was to come and the guys did put everything into creating a great show. But yeah you can see the weight of what was to come showing on Tuomas's face. But all is well for Tarja as she now has a very successful solo career and NW carried on
I always regard this as Tuomas love song for Tarja. Tarja Nightwish peaked with Once, but, no fallout, no Imaginaerum, no Poet and thePendulum, no Wacken 2013, no Floor fronting the band. Beside, in recent performances Tarja looks much more ‘rounded’ and happy than with Nightwish. Overall, End of an Era a wonderful legacy of Tarja’s time with the band, but time to move on.
Here Marko helps carry the end part of the song. But if you go back and check out the Wacken 2013 with Floor.. She gives him a small nod like a plead to keep away (after his third "belt") and drives it home much higher than Tarja. A friend of mine just told me a few weeks back he was actually at this End of an Era concert. And then the evening news covered the split the next day. I'm so looking forward to your reaction come end of month and hoping your Nightwish journey doesn't end there. You're doing a great job, keep it up. Thumbs up from Finland!
"helps carry the part" they're just each singing their part. I actually think it speaks for Tarja that she didn't just accept Marko as a second vocalist when he joined for the 4th album but even said in interviews how much she appreciated him being there, as he was older and more experienced too, and that she never seemed to care that he was equally important as a vocalist and gave him just as much space to shine. I don't see how that's a bad thing.
I’ve always worried that Floor was hurting her voice singing this song because she belts so much of it out on chest voice. It’s not an easy song to sing, for any of them, tbf.
