AUTOMATIC Live Looping with NO Pedals/Controllers using the IAC Driver
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 чер 2024
- In this video, I show you how to do live looping with the IAC Driver in Ableton Live to do automatic live looping without having to use any pedals or buttons. This is a very cool way to pre-map out your looping and not having to worry about pedal dancing at all.

Out of all the videos I've watched for looping on Ableton for the past 2 weeks couldn't compare to this video. Very detailed and easy to understand. Liked and subscribed
Thank you for the sub! Glad it helped!
This looks so much fun! So simple but so powerful. Thanks for the video 🙏
I've been struggling with this for 3 years now, finally, THANK YOU SO MUCH !
Glad I could help!
LOVE IT THANK YOU
full of details and explanations. thanks a lot. great tutorial. let me find the courage to prove it and then we'll see!
Thanks! It takes a while to program and test, but it’s worth it 👍
nicely done. much appreciated. The brief video reaction inserts - Priceless. LOL.
Come for the tech, stay for the memes 😊
Scott is one of the best narrators I have ever seen, his videos are professional and the way he conveys details is incredible. This account is one of the most useful accounts I've seen on UA-cam so far. You deserve more, my friend. Thanks for these great videos
Thank you!
Looking fo’ to trying…..great explanations
Maybe the best Ableton video i've seen, great work.
Appreciate that!
Excellent, thanks
🤘🤘
👍 for the effort
Thank you very much!!!

Awesome, well done, like and sub 👍
Thank you 😊
Great video. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Also, as a cross-platform guy who's Mac is down at the moment, I can also use Bome MIDI Translator Pro instead of the IAC driver on my PC. It's overkill, I know. But since I already have it... =)
Hey! I'm trying to do the same thing with the free trial of BOME, but it doesn't work for me! Did you have to do anything within BOME itself? Thanks!
@@_parthmusic, check the MIDI Router portion.
It can be confusing, but it won't do anything unless it's set up right.
Hi. You can also use touch screen software for this task .You don't need a touch screen your just using its features which may be more relatable
& transferable to anything that can receive midi. Especially the majority of transport & record mechanisms which only respond to midi cc
.
Workflow.
.
You create two widgets in the template. Button one & Button two.
Button 1 transmits midi note on & midi note off.
Button 2 is calibrated to transmit midi CC and respond to the midi note off value of button 1
.
Button 2 is mapped to record , enable , arm etc in the software. And will respond to the note or velocity you insert in the midi track timeline.
.
I use TouchOsc with Studio One & Cubase as its the cheapest. I also add additional midi note events on the timeline so it can automatically change Vst inserts & act as a visual cue for bpm & time signatures.
I need to dive into Touch OSC. I never have
@@ScottUhlMusic
Touchosc was relaunched a few years & they made it more geeky & difficult to create templates for basic tasks. But it's worth the effort as its available on every platform & device. I need it for a basic live loop workflow i'm refining.
.
Here is a guide ive created.
ua-cam.com/video/qH85cgip4RM/v-deo.html.
Midi noise gates enable us to arm the track and recording threshold on our terms & TouchOSC etc handles the transport mechanism.
Hey my loopmidi IAC in windows is not automating my tracks in Ableton. Had set it up, now its not working..... got any advice?
When I have to use a Windows computer, I’m completely lost on how to use it. Sorry 😞 Best of luck!
Hello, I have a question : At 3:07, you poen the midi setup window, but in my case, when I do this, I don't have the "properties" tab, only the "port", o I can't choose to put in on channel 3 or whichever one. I'm running it on my MacBook Air M1, could you help me ? Thank you for all the explanation though, very easy to understand ;)
Yeah it’s very likely different now on the newer MACs, I haven’t tried it since I got my new Mac, but I’m sure there is some way to chose it. It’s really annoying when firmware or OS updates change things…. It drives me nuts
The one thing that I always want to build in is recovery for when you cock it up. So say you're recording the bass and you muff it somehow, how do you restart replaying that part of the IAC midi pattern. I guess you would need to use scenes
“Undo” in ableton is really frustratingly tough to do
hi, thanks for the video! I wonder why my IAC Driver doens´t show the properties tab as yours. I only have the Ports tab. Do you know how I can enable that? Cheers!
That I don’t know tbh, mine has always been there
thanks for answearing !!!
@@ScottUhlMusic
Did you ever figure this out? I'm experiencing the same issue
@@fuzzyloopsmusic hi , Unfortunately no! Best
Can I offer a more drag and drop solution to this :) no midi mapping needed at all and you create from arrangement view
I have Ableton Live 11 Suite how do I live loop on windows does it have IAC Driver ???
I don’t believe it does. But I could be wrong, as I don’t use Windows
Couldn’t you just program a Novation mini pad in Note mode as your controller to do this instead of using the keyboard
To send the messages to tell the IAC driver what to do? Yeah any midi controller will work
Well you my Guy, have a lot of Subs because you provide value, unlinke me :c
Hahaha thank you 😅
