This man speaks the truth. Fantastic presentation and content. But in the interest of real world balance, I'd guess most people watching this are not going to lug 6K$ of full frame gear on a hike. What I'd like to know is which of the smaller sensors (4/3, APS) are providing high DR in the 2020s. I guess it depends if you're hiking to get the photographs, or if you're a hiker first and lasdscape photographer second.
Thanks so much! Sadly, a crop sensor will never be able to compete in dynamic range with most full frame cameras. However, I do like the Sony a6000 series cameras which seem to do pretty good in low light considering they’re crop sensor cameras.

In general, yes. But not always. Some of the newer crop sensors perform better in low light than some of the older full frame sensors.
