I have mine on notebook I have the small compact it is unusual to see a Bible that small with the notes and both old and new testament , I have the big Bible old one and new one . When the Holy Spirit is teaching me something I can get references to back up my what I'm learning conformation . The introduction of the book can help so much , gives you the Five Questions you should always ask . Like why when where how who. Because the order of the book could be confusing , If you don't have that information on back ground . Isaih and to whom was he speaking where he comes in the time of kings Isreal because of Solomons sin God divided the nation gave ten tribes to a servant and two Jerusalem and Judah and The tribe of Benjamin . Which once a year they all where suppose to go and worship at Solomons temple in Jerusalem and offer sacrifice for every family . Than you see the new testament really does not star right after Malichi it so Jesus lived and died under the law with his blood the new covenant started death burial and resurrection . I just feel so full studying the SCOFIELD KJV love it now sometimes I will study the parallel Bible the KING JAMS VERS ON TE OTHER SIDE IS THE AMPLIFIED VERSION BUT I USE IT ALWAY WITH THE SOCFIELD ,IHAVNT BEEN LOOKING LATELY BUT I USE TO GO TO MARDEL S AND LIFE WAY BOOK STORE THEY ORDER IF THEY DONT HAVE IT BUT NOW IM HEARING ABOUT THE KING JAMES STORE . IVE HAD SOME PASTORS SAY GET THOMPSON CHIAN OR THE NIV BUT I STICK WITH MY SCOFIELD I WISH THEY HAD THEIR OWN DICTIONARY BUT I DONT KNOW ABOUT IT SO I USE VINES DICTIONARY AND STRONGS CONCADINE . We are not sure of the font size for the references and notes. Virtually every KJV study bible and reference bible in the world is going to have a slightly larger font for the actual KJV text, and a slightly smaller font for the reference and commentary material. It's necessary to make it all fit on the page at the same time, plus, the actual text of the KJV is meant to be read all the time, whereas the references and supplemental information is only meant to be read as needed. We have not personally tested out highlighting in the Scofield III. Virtually any bible in the world is going to have at least "some" bleed through with the use of a highlighter. We believe the paper quality of this bible is very good, but it is still thin like all bible paper. Blessings.

I know this is 7 mos late, but try using colored pencils. That's what I do in my scofield and no bleed through
