Hi everyone! Someone pointed out to me that Unreal Engine changed their policy in 2020, meaning that you can now use their engine for free up until you earn your first $1.000.000 (earnings doesn’t reset yearly like Unity do) After that they take the 5% cut 🙂 This still means that Unreal Engine gets much more expensive than Unity if you use it in a larger professional capacity, but for smaller indie developers it makes it a lot more appealing. 🙂
But again… pricing is just a small part of choosing between Unity and Unreal at this point, since smaller developers will essentially be able to make games for free in both engines. I recommend looking up comparison articles between the two engines if you are curious about Unreal vs Unity. 🙂
Currently, most comparisons will tell you that Unreal has an slight edge when it comes to graphics, but Unity has a big edge when it comes to “beginner friendliness” and multiple platforms support. The only “hard advice” I have for you, is to start with Unity if you are completely new to game development. Sure… Some people will tell you they started with Unreal Engine, however I can promise you that the learning curve is a lot harder than when choosing Unity. 🙂
So you essentially just “pick what suits you”. Both engines are capable of making stunning looking AAA games and both are used by professional developers today.
Also, just to let you all know, I am planning on making tutorials again, but it is at my own pace which means there isn't going to be a fixed upload schedule. 🙂 I took a break from making tutorials a while back because I felt my subscribers had taken control over the channel, so now that I have taken back control 💪 I will be uploading whatever content I wish at whatever time I please. 😉 But just to clarify, I do have a dream to start on a Unity series, so that's what this video is the start to (at my own pace of course).
You are awesome! I hope you and your family are doing well. Take your time, we will be here when you are ready to post.
Nice! I am waiting...
@@KeysOfPerfection I had it pinned originally, but it seems that it gets unpinned if you edit it. 🙂 I pinned it again just now, thanks for letting me know.

Dani Krossing tutorials are addictive and easy to follow through. A lot of People (including yours truly) have learnt and acquired new skills thanks to his simple and professional tutorial videos.
Thank you @Dani.
Yes this was useful, and answered exactly what I wanted to know! Thank you! (also really loving your space background! It's neat!)
I really appreciate it! just to let people know, it threw an 'installed with errors' on me after trying to install visual studio, and it was saying that VS install failed. However simply rebooting like you suggested later was all it needed to do.
BRO THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH, THE STRUGGLE YOU'VE RELIEVED

Best explanation so far, I like the way how you explained the stuff and it was pretty easy to follow along with you. Thank you!!
Agreed!
I honestly like the "made in unity" splashscreen, it looks nice first of all, and also will help your players know what you used!
i totally agree. and it also stops a**holes from telling everyone they made the engine themselves to get credit
I agree
When i played baldis basics when it had the "made in unity" splashscreen i was like some "OUT THE DOOR!" _Y E E T_
I'm getting my new and first computer today, and this is the very first thing i'll do!... thank you so much!!!

The thought that you just enabled 1000s of dev’s journeys, must be amazing!
Also how did you start your dev journey?
Self taught starting 4 years ago 🙂 I started out by taking a online course in C#, and then read the Unity documentation to learn how to get started with game dev.
Oh I’ve not even got unity installed yet, still waiting for the IDE to install!
Done now, and ready to start my journey!

What should I select in visual studio 2019 tab?
hey man so i have installed the version that i wanted then i clicked install it installed and has been Editor application installing screen for days now....... do you know how to fix this?
it was really helpful and quite funny with the winks he makes from time to time
it's helpful

I was just thinking about starting to learn video game dev and I see this pop up on my notifications. Thanks a lot Daniel!
Thanks a lot!
It was bit different nowadays. I first needed to login and activate lisence, then download the editor and after that I needed to add this extra "module" -> visual studio. First it was bit odd and I thought did I press the right link, but end of the day everything went good.
@Dani Krossing
How do you fix the "could not be opened. Please check the logs" error? I keep getting this error whenever I try to create a project, I keep getting this infuriating error. I've reinstalled Unity Hub so many times already.
I would love to try this, but unfortunately after 3 hours of installing, reinstalling, looking for solutions, trying everything suggested online, in unity forums, in reddit, in other forums, I can/t seem to install the editor application, I always no matter what I do have an installation error that says install failed: validation failed. I think I will try unreal then...
Very helpfull
i like how this guy is way to in-depth on explaining. takes 10 minutes on telling you how to walk a straight line.
My goal is to help people learn and understand, and not just "copy/paste". People who teach it faster than me, leave out important info because it's more important to them to keep videos a certain length, or because they are more concerned with just showing "how", and not "why". Many people with years of experience in Unity, would even argue that I'm cutting my videos short. 😉
Thank you so much for this vid, I remember how about a year ago I couldn't wrap my head around all the pop-ups and just stoped trying. The video is very straight-forward and super well made, keap it up!
Thank you sir for your tutorials, can your please create a tutorial where users communicate with each other via inbox chat sql and php??

Yeah, but still this video can help you through it.

Hey it’s asking me about windows command processor and if I wana allow it to make changes to my device and I’m just asking if that normal as I’m kinda paranoid with a new computer

i downloaded editor app and Microsoft Visual studio but editor app is stuck on "Validating" for past hour idk what to do
hello , you were talking about leaving a path to find the visual studio file, but I couldn;t find it anywhere ,
Nice content ☺️ waiting for more game development videos ❤️
please tell me why i dont get that pop up telling me to restart, and unity is having issues with adding scripts. what do i do?
Hi Dani, nice tutorial and video, but I have one question regarding the IDE!
Visual Studio is a nightmare on low ram users (8gb or less), so instead can I use Visual Studio Code? If yes, do I have all the functionality I need for unity?
I have seen others use VSC instead of VS, so I know it can be done 🙂 I’m not sure if intellisense works in VSC though.
@@Dani_Krossing It's working perfectly, VSC don't have "Attach to unity" but I don't have problems using it! Intellisense is based on "using unity.engine;" no?
@@ido8658 i have 8 gb so i am downloading VSC, what is intellisense?andd will i be having problem in using it?
@@uniquescience7047 I had no problems using it, only with the new input system, but besides that, no problems.
Intellisense is the code completion tool, you write "vel" and the intellisense suggest you "velocity", the you press tab and it autocompletes
PS: I'm not an expert, so maybe research what Intellisense is
@@ido8658 thanku bro :)
YES YES YES UNITY YES ! THANK YOU SO MUCH !
Hey, at the timestamp 11:00, where you say link VS to Unity, the three dropdowns on your screen that say Debug, Any CPU, and Attach to Unity are different on mine. The first two dropdowns are blank, nothing there, and the third one just says "Attach" What a I doing wrong
how do i fix setup requires the computer to be restarted before visual studio can run after i restarted it?
thanks a lot for this amazing content
I have an issue here guys. Whem I downloaded the Editor application after signing in, it keeps failing. It says that there's a "validation error", so I restarted the download and now the loading is taking forever. Can someone please help me?
Hey, I'm currently trying to download Unity but it kept saying that the shortcut has been changed or moved. How do I fix this?
What version of unity is suitable for multiple choice quiz type of game?🙏
Hello just one question, when im creating a account i click the link to confirm email but it expires even though it says that it will only expire after 15 days , how do i fix this?
for my visual studio it just say devenv not devenv.exe and it said im using microsoft visual studio 2019 is it the same thing?
Hi Dani, I always thank you your Great tutorial for Newbies. I have a Question. Where can I find the material in this tutorial. It is not easy to find the download link. Can you give an answer?
This tutorial doesn’t have any material since it is just a “how to setup Unity” video 🙂 Once there is actually material to share, I will put it in the download link at the bottom of the description.
I still can’t find the video editor because I have the 2022 version and I tried to follow your steps but the folders were not there 😢
Am I able to set Visual studio 2022 as my default because ive been using that one for a few months now and im used to that one
Yes, I use that one as well
when i go on the unity hub it says sing in i press it but i doesnt do anithing
If I use the free, or personal version of unity to be specific, can I publish games with it freely? Or do I have to pay for stuff to freely publish them?
You can publish games freely.🙂
There are only two major downsides to not getting the paid version. You will have a Unity splash screen at the start of your game that says “made in Unity”.
And if you plan on making A LOT of money on your games, then you will have to get the paid version if you make above a certain amount during a 3 month period. The amount you are allowed to make for free is on the Unity website, and I remember it being quite a lot you are allowed to earn before having to get the paid version.
So basically, you can publish as many games as you want, if they are all free and you don’t earn anything on them. 🙂
@@Dani_Krossing thank you for clarifying 🙂
when i maked my account, signed in and everything on the unity hub app it still doesnt say im signed in
sorry Im just getting started in game development and was wondering if Visual Studio Community could get those AI AUTOCOMPLETE Extensions to speed up my work. Or do I install both VSCOMM + VSCODE and use the AI in VSCODE??
You just follow the tutorial and it should be set up. 🙂
@@Dani_Krossing hey! wow thanks for replying, great channel and tutorial. thanks for bringing light to a very difficult subject to a flourishing and eager community. So Visual Studio Community has the AI auto complete thingy for coding? is that still called "Intellisense" I believe? I'll learn how to code! I just need a boost
Intellisense yes 🙂 I think it’s possible to set up in VSCode as well, but I haven’t tried setting it up before.
whenever I open unity i get a message saying "Unity is running with administrator privileges, which is not supported" I get two options down below one being "restart unity as standard user". When I click that it just pops up again.. any idea how to bypass this?
Daniel...i just wanted to say hi..you wouldn't remember me but i was following you to learn html and javascript a couple years ago...glad to see you still working...i see all those subscribers...wow...very good...great job..
take care..
I need help
every time i want to activate my licence i get an error 'unable to save licence' how can i get help ?
I already have VS Community & Android Studio. Should I download these again in Unity?
Do you need to connect it to Visual Studio? What if making something very basic just to learn? What exactly is connecting to Visual Studio doing for us? Thanks
VS is just the “standard” when it comes to IDEs. You can just connect a different IDE or text editor if you want. 🙂 So you are not forced to use VS.
Thanks for this tutorial
Please can visual studio code be used
Yes. Just make sure you install the Unity intellisense plugin. 🙂
