I never comment on the videos but this is necessary. The comments made by the main cast are offensive as they reinforce the stereotypes that all South Americans have dark skin and that they only work in agriculture, which is not bad, but they are generalizing much of a continent. Likewise, they are using it in such a way that they imply that they are inferior due to their skin color and work. As a Mexican I seriously hope that the cast is adequately educated regarding the great diversity of South America. I feel really disappointed.
Thank goodness someone else commented on this. It immediately rubbed me the wrong way. I understand that Korea is a homogeneous country and many people aren't exposed to other races but those comments were so disrespectful.
Yup ...as someone who lives in South America the comments from the people in grey t-shirt were really disrespectul. I'm not saying that those activities are not part from our society, it's true, we live from that, but that was not the correct way to say it.
100% agree with you... As someone who lives in South American (Peru) that comment made me feel disappointed... We are much more than that... We have people who are great in music, gastronomy, nobel prizes, we have tourism. We just don't live from agriculture.

Starting by saying im not defending what they athletes said. It was offensive and uncalled for. The athletes are from a generation that had no diversity growing up and may not be educated about racism. Even into the 2000's there was blackface comedy because they didnt know better. Korea was a mostly homogeneous population until recently with the rise in popularity of K culture. The editor should have been smart enough to edit it out.

Having darker skin meant that you'd been working hard labour out in the syn all day. (Hence why the mentioned farmer.) And having pale skin meant you didn't have to do hard work, because you were probably wealthy. That's why they captioned pale as "luxurious" and darker as "farmer" and not south america.

I never comment on the videos but this is necessary. The comments made by the main cast are offensive as they reinforce the stereotypes that all South Americans have dark skin and that they only work in agriculture, which is not bad, but they are generalizing much of a continent. Likewise, they are using it in such a way that they imply that they are inferior due to their skin color and work. As a Mexican I seriously hope that the cast is adequately educated regarding the great diversity of South America. I feel really disappointed.
Thank goodness someone else commented on this. It immediately rubbed me the wrong way. I understand that Korea is a homogeneous country and many people aren't exposed to other races but those comments were so disrespectful.
Yup ...as someone who lives in South America the comments from the people in grey t-shirt were really disrespectul. I'm not saying that those activities are not part from our society, it's true, we live from that, but that was not the correct way to say it.
100% agree with you... As someone who lives in South American (Peru) that comment made me feel disappointed... We are much more than that... We have people who are great in music, gastronomy, nobel prizes, we have tourism. We just don't live from agriculture.
I'm glad someone said this... although I live in L.A, I'm still hispanic and I felt attacked racially when they said they were South American farmers. I immediately paused the video to look for a comment on this...

Starting by saying im not defending what they athletes said. It was offensive and uncalled for. The athletes are from a generation that had no diversity growing up and may not be educated about racism. Even into the 2000's there was blackface comedy because they didnt know better. Korea was a mostly homogeneous population until recently with the rise in popularity of K culture. The editor should have been smart enough to edit it out.

@@scoupsdimple6716 They were referring to the social class system from back in the day in asia and actually also all aorund the world. Having darker skin meant that you'd been working hard labour out in the syn all day. (Hence why the mentioned farmer.) And having pale skin meant you didn't have to do hard work, because you were probably wealthy. That's why they captioned pale as "luxurious" and darker as "farmer" and not south america.

As a south american i feel incredibly offended by what this main cast said. The fact that they think they look like south americans because of their darker skin tone is racist, also, the fact that they used it as a joke makes everything worse.
Not to mention the comment about being farmers as if the only thing we do here is farming and as if farming shouldn't be a respected job. South Americans shouldn't be considered farmers just because their skin tone and farming shouln't be disrespected like this.
