- I was lucky enough to have a conversation with guitar legend and film score supremo Trevor Rabin ahead of the release of his new album Rio on 6th October 2023. The conversation went many places in a short period of time, and I hope that you enjoy our chat!

I am just astounded at your pull to get such a star in to chat. Well done mate and a great interview. All the best Dave✅✅
👍😎
Thanks Dave! It’s taken 5.5 years to get to this point!
@@JimNewstead 😂
Your manner and your questions were pitch perfect. You produced the best chat with Trevor that I’ve seen in a long, long while.
Thank you so much!
Splendid! I love Trevor's influence on Yes, and look forward to the new album.
That was awesome!!!!
Hey Scot! Jim was awesome. Trevor was OK too! Lol!👍😎
Cool, huh?
Awesome to get Trevor on your channel. Great interview!
Hey 👋! Thanks matey
Well done Jim. A great interview with an incredible musician. I saw him in the early 80's supporting Steve Hillage and immediately went out and bought his albums.
He is such an amazing musician and a top bloke.
Oh fantastic! I'm a huge fan of Trevor's, what a nice surprise. Looking forward to Daily Doug's interview with him next week
😧😮!!!! And just when I'm FINALLY going to bed! Well, I'll be watching this in a few hours 😃. One of my all time fave guitarists, composers and vocalists. "Endless Dream" (Yes) is one of most brilliant EPICS ever conceived.
good night, sleep well Tony 😆🤘
Loved the interview Jim. I’ve listened to Push from Trevor’s new album and I just love it, a really brilliant piece of music. His work with Yes is wonderful. They were very fortunate to have him as part of the band at that time. Thanks Jim.
I'm a guitariat who was born in South Africa but grew up in the UK. I'm a lifelong fan of Trevor and found the questions about SA music very interesting. Love the album
OMG TREVOR RABIN AAAAAA
Woke up to see this and it made my day as a Yes fanatic. Years ago, I was on a plane watching "Jack Frost," of all things and I got distracted/intrigued by the music only to find "Trevor Rabin," in the credits. I remember those Yes era tours fondly and ARW was phenomenal in concert.
Jim! Thank you for remembering me and the Super Fan shout out! I loved Scot's question. Got a good laugh from Trevor. LOL! Incredible vid Jim. You are THE man❗️❗️❗️👍😎

Your welcome!
Congrats on your interview with Mr. Rabin, Jim! He came along at exactly the right time for YES to continue their legacy. Who knows what would have happened to the greatest band in the history of music if he hadn't?🤩
Jim, this is a great interview! Thanks you so much. Trevor is great, and what an album Rio is, love it.
Love your stuff on YT, discovered and yes, even rediscovered a lot, thanks to you.👍🙏
Always fun, when people talk about times of which you don't really know much, because it was a time, when I had stopped reading music magazines and there was no internet 🤘
Great Interview Jim'
Trevor is a Top bloke👍seen him a few years ago with Jon Anderson & Rick Wakeman !!
So looking forward to the new album fab job with this Interview.✴✴✴✴✴
Congratulations good sir! What a great interview. Ever think you would get to do something like this? 👍 😎🥃 cheers!
Great interview Jim
Thanks Dean
I was blown away when I heard that Charles Bisharat was playing on RIO and has worked with Trevor for years. I listened to his magic with a new age band called Shadowfax for years. Then he played with Yanni. I have been looking forward to Trevor's new album since I heard it was dropping. Great interview Jim (aka FanBoy).
Oh great! there aren't many interviews with Trevor. I do think that he doesn't get the credit he deserves as a guitarist. His albums Wolf and Can't Look Away are really good. He brought new life to Yes with 90125 and I thought both the Union album (and live concerts) and Talk were great albums. It's a shame the old fans always compared him with the old Yes. And also the way Steve Howe treated him - which I can sorta understand because here is this young, handsome looking guy who is a master musician kinda taking 'your spot' but he as he explained clearly the band was meant to be Cinema. Then again he brought a whole new generation of fans to Yes (including me). Shame so many members died, Chris Squire Alan White. And allthough the RnRHoF induction was great and welldeserved with Steve Howe's speech and Rick Wakeman's comedy I find it kinda sad that nobody mentioned Tony Kaye that night, who played an integral part in the resurgence of Yes in the '80s and was a great musician. He also passed away years ago. Thanks for a great interview 🙏👍 R.I.P. to all the members of Yes who aren't with us anymore
Yes, a lovely fella and very generous with his time.
Thanks for my question Jim! ..I'm not surprised by his answer as I love the first two Yes albums as much as the others.👍👍🙃🙃🖖🖖🗽🗽
BRAVO Jim ! Thank you Trevor !
Very well done Jum. Look forward to Trevor's new release. You have my interest peaked in Oklahoma. I just have the musical running through my head so it will be great fun hearing how wrong i was😃
Great interview, Jim!
This is the best interview! Congratulations 👏👏👏👏
Nice get, Jim. I, uh … can’t look away 😏
Absolutely loved it ! Great job with this great musician.
...and thanks for including my question. Well answered by Trevor. Very much appreciated 🙏
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Wow. I wasn't expecting to see this pop up on your channel. Good interview. Looking forward to Rio. I hope you were able to record your reaction to Rio and release it when allowed.
Excellent effort Jim! Thank you very much 🙏
Jim, that was amazing. Did you ever think you would be talking with these legends when you started doing these reaction videos?
Thanks so much, and thanks to Trevor. That was a real treat and I cannot wait to get "Rio".
I didn’t expect, but I hoped…. One day!
Thanks 😊
Great interview Jim! I couldn't believe that you had managed to get an interview with Trevor, but you did and it was very good. I was living in South Africa when Rabbitt became a pop phenomenon in 1976 but it was clear Trevor was the creative force. His reputation as a musician/producer grew after Rabbitt split and it was obvious he would make it big overseas, but never with Yes! That surprised us all in SA, but in a nice way. I've been a Rabin fan since '76 so it was such fun to watch your interview. Will this be the precursor to more big name chats?
That’s not my choice, but I hope so!
Nice one Jim! Kudos! Look forward to hearing his album. Fun Fact: Trevor played on some tracks on Mr Mister’s last album “Pull”
Jim, how in the world did you get Trevor Rabin to agree to do an interview with you? You must be a Wizard 🙂
I set it up! Just kidding. Jim is THE man!👍😎
Pretty cool, huh?

Classy interview Jim! Nice one 👍
Great interview, Jim!
Unlike many of your viewers I'm largely ignorant to Trevor's career, but the two of you were still interesting and informative. 👍
Great coup Jim! I was particularly impressed with your knowledge of all the people Trevor was talking about. I wouldn't have a clue!
You should see my interview with Tony Rabin…. 🤣
@@JimNewstead 🤣. Don't worry Jim, just tell him you had an earlier interview Tony Kaye and got confused ;-)
Hey Jim!! EXCELLENT!!! FANTASTIC!!! I am so happy for you and I am very jealous. Great job my friend. 👍😎

Hi Jim,
How the hell did you manage to get this great musician to have a chat with you. You must have the right connections.
Wow.
Cassettes and Polaroids; back to my youth.
I must say, I still prefer the old Yes.
Thanks, Hard work pays off in the end!
Any good musician worth her salt would welcome with open arms a fellow musician who has not only heard all the best music, but who has given them a deep listening...such as you have done over the years. Your solid line with Trevor -- who, after all, has the same birthday as King Crimson, Gurdjieff and yours truly -- creates a dotted line between you and, say, Jon Anderson, and all other connections Trevor has. And a dotted line connection is better than no connection at all, and has its own energy toward becoming solid. At least according the my "law of social triangularity" from back in the '90s, presaging Facebook. So that is why I think you will get to jam with all your favorite musicians, even create a supergroup. Maybe create a virtual band in the Metasphere, with you, Dean, Nick, Lex, Scot, et les autre formidables. Oui ou non? Wish you and Mr. Rabin, who looks great, btw, had jammed. Next time.
Thank you very much sir! Like Guinness, good things come to those that wait!
