Another great video! I’m a professional photographer who is learning to shoot video, so I have been using my iPhone to shoot my UA-cam videos because I didn’t have time to learn how to edit Canon r6 video in Resolve. Now I have time, so I’ll be ditching the iPhone for everything except certain b roll shots (canon eye detection can’t recognize fish eyes yet 😂)
Sean, I've been making outdoor videos with my iPhone 13 Pro for two years now. Some of the footage I've got is awesome (the Scottish landscape has helped a lot). I try to improve a tiny bit every time I go out filming, as you always recommend :)
Don't laugh... I still have Samsung 9. I see myself as an accomplished photographer with my Dig Cams but can't help but smile at some of the images this particular phone has taken....🤣 no really. I have to laugh myself. Tools are tools know what they can do and have fun with whatever tool you choose. Keep shooting....👴
I haven't gotten out of the habit of panning.....but I'm trying. Funny how my naive mind works... I show up and see the great horizon and think that if I pan I will capture it for you. In reality, all I do is release your attention. Pan is for pizza....Pan is for pizza.....I'll figure this out one day.
The phone mic has the advantage that it doesn't make you look like a dork. Tell us that you wouldn't wear that brick, or pager, or whatever it is, unless you were being paid to. Anyway, that's when I stopped watching :)
100% right, as good as phone are today, they still can't compete with dedicated cameras. Heck, even my ZV1F is better than my phone (I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max). Sure convenience is key with phones, but if you are trying to be a content creator, you're going to have you camera with you. Not 100% sold on those mics. $150 CAD is actually pretty good, I think it needs a bit of post work to sound really good. Great vid and tips!
If I can be warmly constructively critical, it feels like this video was produced for the purposes of the Hohem microphone rather than being as per the title. I’ll qualify why, based on the title I’m really surprised you did not get into the Apple log. I don’t think you did because really you were using this as a vehicle for the microphone. Just my humble opinion and I hope this feedback is taken well and in the manner in which it’s meant.love you videos and I have been subscribed for quite awhile but thought I’d give you this feedback.
A video from a phone is totally doable especially if it's indoors with some light. It's far more important the way one intend to shoot the video he have in his mind. That's where all the tips you give in your videos comes into play. I'm still learning :)
I just love how your talking about lighting and "so we look our best" next scene backfill is now lit..... I like the cut ;). Would love to speak with you soon Sean!
Oh, I'm all over that HOHEM. Thanks. 👴 I gotta go just phone. Love my big boys for photography but I am struggling with intrusion when attempting vids. I may have to give up some quality and flexibility with just a phone, but compared to what I am creating now which is NOTHING, it may get me in the Vid game. Or I may just have to resign myself to a photography blog.

Really helpful. My phone is all I use right now out of convenience but doing these small tips. My footage should look better If I do a good job. 😂
