Japan's Kagiyama Yuma impressed in the free program and secured silver in the men's singles competition at Beijing 2022, scoring 201.93 points to leave him with a total score of 310.05.

If he can perfect his jumps, he is gold for sure. The artistry is there and great, definitely not a jump robot.
👏👏👏 The Japanese boys always look so graceful on ice, it's a beauty to behold. I can't wait for this kid to improve on his jumping and surpass Nathan Chen. This is what the future of figure skating should look like. We must preserve the gracefulness and artistic expression in figure skating and prevent it from becoming a jumping sport.

Actually his jumps quality is super even better than 18 yearold yuzuru. He was a champion if Nathan is not there. He just need to add more different kind of quads
@@saeedtuoba1408 Yuma's jumps are more impressive than Yuzu actually because in Yuzu's time quads were not as necessary as they are these days. The jumps were easier, but be honest, the artistry and emotions back then were better than what we get these days. A figure skating turning to a jumping sports.
@@eugeosynthesisthirtytwo yes sadly... There are not much artistic and story feeling like before. I still impressed by Romeo and Juliet by Yuzuru at his 17 yearold. Also The Artist by Denis Ten. So many to name, even Jason Brown's river dance.
Wow! I haven’t been following skating lately so this is the first I’ve heard of Kagiyama, but his skating style is very strong and fluid! Congrats to him for his medal!

A lot of attention of course to all the drama in figure skating. In the mean time this Japanse guy quietly did win the silver medal with 18 years on his first Olympics games! Being the nr 3 of the Japanse national games 👍🥈
He did it at the 2021 worlds he was the third of the Japanese men and end up winning the silver medal at his first senior outing
Missing him this year. Hope he has a healthy return for the next season.

Love love love his performance. He glides so effortlessly and elegantly on the ice. Amazing song choice that conveys the highs and lows. His performance in the GP2021 was better compared to this but I guess that's the nerves of the Olympics HAHA Can't wait to see more of this future skating star!! His dad must be so proud of him :)

Without a doubt he is a great talent, it's great to watch him. His skating skills and flow are already impressive and he's clearly making an effort to be expressive on the ice. Now I wish that he and his team continue to work on his artistic expression, on who he really is on the ice. He's young, he still needs to grow and develop, he may not have quite found his style and music that suits him. He needs more complex choreographies so that he can be more responsive to music. I hope that he and his team will not only rely on his jumps, but will continue to work despite his already very high (I believe, much too high) program components. I'll be happy to continue to follow his development as a skater.
Yuma is the future of mens figure skating in Japan and the world. I can see him landing a quint toeloop in the future. If you slow down his first quad toe it looks like he has enough time for another half rotation. He's also young enough to where this would even be considered a possibility. GO YUMA!
I haven't watched figure skating for more than 10 years. Is his program a contribution to Alexei Yagudin? Has he said anything about it? There's obvious connection... the music, costume... His speed is unbelievable! I hope he is going to improve the artistic aspect as he is so talented! I can see that there is a different way of scoring which I do not understand so far. I think I am going to catch up!
Kar Jo His power does remind me a bit of Yagudin as well. He is still very young, could definitely grow more in presentation like Alexei Yagudin did when he got more experience.
I thought I was the only one who recognized the music and the costume similarities with the 2002 Yagudin program.
Great minds remember! LOL!
He has not mentioned it literally, but his performance itself does reflect what Yagudin showed us 20 years ago. I am so sure that at least he does recognise who used this song in the history of figure skating. Absolutely Phenomenal.

You must be blind and this is my first time watching both but I can tell Nathan Chen did way better
I somehow agree. Nathan did land all his jumps but his routine i find lacking the emotional feels . It was just jumps after jumps . It's figure skating not figure jumping. But that's how the sport is now . Just one jump after another no artistic expression.
