    What is the difference between full frame mirror less cameras and dslr for underwater photography?

    • @everythingscuba
      @everythingscuba  3 роки тому +6

      This is s difficult one to answer fully.Newer full sensor mirrorless cameras have the advantage of being smaller in size and therefor require smaller housings. Some people don't like the fact that a mirrorless camera only uses a digital viewer on the rear instead of a viewfinder on a DSLR. But in terms of underwater photography this has never been an issue for me. Given that mirrorless cameras have a constant live view because it does not have a mirror in the way of the sensor, some underwater videographers prefer the also. There are perhaps fewer lens options for mirrorless systems but again in terms of U/W photography this hasn't been an issue. We could list lots of pros and cons on both sides. Some people swear that one is better than the other. I guess you have to make that decision in terms of your budget, what purpose you want to use it and what features are most important to you. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching!

    Your infos about DSLR vs Mirroless aren't really up to date... Mirrorless is now considered the superior standard for smaller, lighter and better cameras. You get to see a live view of your exposure through the viewfinder, the AF is way better, it lasts longer than using liveview on a DSLR and has now better noise performance. Lenses are also generally smaller, faster and sharper. It is also a better mix of video and photo, hence the "hybrid" name. The whole industry is moving towards it and DSLRS are slowly becoming obsolete. Also mirrorless cameras are now made in every sensor size which makes your information false.

    Mirrorless is definitely the better way to go for low light. Sony all the way!

    I rented an Oymplus TG 6 camera while I was on vacation in Roatan honduras last month and it took some amazing pictures. I bet took over 150 pictures while scuba diving.

    there are lots of full-frame mirrorless cameras though. Sony alpha 7C for example. Panasonic Lumix S5. all the big DSLR manufacturers have full-frame mirrorless cameras these days. and most of these are comparable in size to DSLRs, though there are compact ones.

      You are correct. Since the making of this video there have been multiple manufacturers that now produce full frame mirrorless cameras. We need to update this video at some point. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching!

    Hello,
    Having the Olymus EPL10 with the AOI housing for a month, Pictures are great ,onley the camera flips out after 30 min testing in a indoor swimming pool of 24 ° Celcius... What is going wrong ? Nothing works,enymore, on the LCD screen,,onley the trigger works.
    When i take the camera out the housing it feels verry warm ,is this normal ?

    • @everythingscuba
      @everythingscuba  Рік тому

      Eddy that is most definitely not how th camera should operate. I’d talk to the shop you bought it from or directly to the manufacturer. You should be having overheating like this. My EPL10 behaves itself nicely.
