Don't forget dragons and magic and all sorts of other things fantasy.... Check out 'We're Stars"... It was the metal version of we are the world... You will just KNOW who wrote it once you hear the lyrics. I talk smack sometimes about Dio but for a fact the world is a much darker place without his talent. :( Here, let me make it easy for you. :) ua-cam.com/video/SelZdA71tD0/v-deo.html
I miss Dio. His talent was unrivaled. When Ozzy left Black Sabbath, Dio stepped in there, took the reins, and drove that band to new heights, new sounds, new ENERGY. He was a legend lost too soon. RIP.
Long live R & R is done by “Ozzy! yay me. “ they both were with Sabbath, they both were lead singers, they both had awesome solo careers, and the both were accused of being devil worshippers. The were actually two awesome singers with the ability to write or co-write amazing songs, they also were known for hiring some of “Rocks best musicians” for the band. (Yeah I get what you did there)🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘💯 I seen Ozzy with AIC, now that was Amazing! AIC was a new group just opening-blew the crowd away, we were in a outdoor palladium , and it was some of the nicest people I’d ever met in one HUGE place!💯🤟 After typing all that shxt, I just remembered Ozzy did “ You cant’ (kill Rock-n-Roll) not “ Long live (Rock-Rock-Roll”) I’m losing my “ R&R knowledge “ in my old age! But anyway it’s all true😳😬
What I have read, this song was penned after his time singing with Rainbow, It's said it was written with Richie Blackmore in mind, He called the time with them "The worst Job he ever had".. DIO wrote about Magic, Rainbows and expressed his Religious Upbringing and credits his Grandma with his use of the Malocchio horns for his Metal Horns.. as they were meant to wart off evil spirits in the Italian world.. and he was the most heavy metal of them all!~ R.I.P RJD
RIP to the legend Ronnie James Dio! Y’all need to do “Don’t Talk To Strangers” , “Holy Diver” , “Mob Rulez”, “Man On The Silver Mountain” ….So many damn good Dio songs again may he RIP also he invited the devil horns 🤘🏻
Dio had that powerful voice , yet was only 5'4" Lead guitar is Vivian Campbell, who went on to play with Whitesnake, and has been a member of Def Leppard since 1992.
Dio sang with some great earlier group, such as Rainbow. Check out the song "Stargazer" His voice is a mix of opera and power. Also, Check out the live song "Mistreated" from Rainbow. One of his best live performances. Don't forget about his time with Black Sabbath - Children of the Sea and Heaven & Hell are a couple of his best known songs. "Sign of the Southern Cross" is one of my personal favorites.
Dio was one of the greatest vocalists of all time no one comes close except one family band Liliac who’s vocalist has fallen in love with Dio and does covers for most of his songs to the point that Wendy Dio asked Them to do the Last in line for Cancer fundraiser for Ronnie James Dio birthday and Dio drummer Vinny Appici gave them an unreleased version for fundraiser she killed it.
Dio was a one of a kind singer. You two should seriously check out the band Liliac covering Rainbow in the Dark or Holy Diver. Even covering Dios the last in line.
Dio's open throat technique was on point. For such a small person he had lungs and a strong core. He was considerably older than the other bands so they used to call him Pop lol. He was so kind. RIP Dio!
One of the most killer voices ever! We will miss him. The thing that is so wonderful is that young bands are carrying on his legacy. Wendy Dio and Vinny Appice, DIO drummer, has "adopted" a family rocker band called Liliac who do DIO so incredibly becuz of their frontwoman, Melody. Or as Appice calls her Melodio. She took it and made it Melodia. lol They do more than DIO and of course their own stuff. But check them out sometime. They are sure getting recognized more by other rockers.
@@ronmorrison1258 Yes that was pretty incredible. Shawn and Mel, even Zakk Wylde sought them out at their show with Skillet to meet them and talk to them. One of Sam's, the lead guitar player's, inspirations.
Ronnie James Dio was amazing, should definitely check out Last in Line, Stargazer (with the band Rainbow) and Heaven and Hell (with Black Sabbath). The thing that always cracks me up when I see him sing and see his videos, is that RJD was only 5'4 tall. It's like his body was tiny but his voice was a giant.
Congratulations! You have reached the pinnacle of hard rock! Dio was the greatest lyricist, singer, frontman of all time. He is the one who brought the Malocchi hand gesture to rock \m/ \m/ everybody makes this hand gesture when you thnk of rock music. Dio started hid professional recording career in 1955 when he was only 13 years old. He has been in many bands over his 52 year career including Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven and Hell.
For many, like myself, Dio had the best voice of the genre...I wish I'd seen him with Blackmore's Rainbow...ironically, catching both live, with their own groups. Enjoyable, old school video...
he replaced Ozzy when he left Sabath...he sang in Rainbow with Ritchie Blackmore then went solo....always a little D and D in his songs, but what a voice.
Very powerful voice a legend. A master of his craft. Wise man. Loyal to HIS fans. Just once in a lifetime. Keep doing urselves a service m keep enjoying Dios voice. Whether in the 60s With Rainbow in the 70s Black sabbath in the early 80s Or his solo stuff (like this)
This is the singer from Rainbow same guy as Stargazer a few years later after a brief stent as the singer for Black Sabbath he’s a vocal god. Vivian Campbell is on guitar Jimmy Bain on bass and Vinny Appice on drums.
Behold the Power of the Metal God, Ronnie James Dio. Glad you've heard him now. :) One of the best vocalists ever, not just in Metal. Hope you react to more of his material.
Give it another listen, paying attention to the lyrics about his prior band RAINBOW with Ritchie Blackmore... He felt restricted and ignored, and unable to function. He was lost and never found... Some great music in Rainbow that you should listen to when you're ready !
Fun Fact: Ronnie James Dio was a preachers son who returned to the faith years later. His Rainbow reference was light inside of evil. His music is amazing
Thank you both for showing these reactions to so many songs that I love. If I may suggest a few: Alison Krauss “When You Say Nothing At All” Ronnie Milsapp “Stranger in my House” The Eagles “I Can’t Tell You Why”
Ronnie James Dio actually began as an R&B/do wop singer from New York in the 1960's. He formed his first heavy rock band Elf in 1971... but he rose to fame in 1977 when he joined the band Rainbow w/ Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. Ronnie Dio left Rainbow in '79 and replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath in 1980. In 1983, he split w/ Sabbath to form his band Dio... this was from their first album. Ronnie James Dio passed away in 2010 from cancer at age 68😪R.I.P. He left a huge catalog of songs in his lifetime🤘🤘
I also see you did Judas Priest recently. They have an endless catalogue. Some of their hard rocking staples The Hellion/Electric Eye, The Sentinel, You've got another thing coming. Some recent rockers off their latest album No Surrender, Firepower. Some of their (beautiful) ballads Prisoner of your eyes, Angel.
Good intro to DIO.. For an even more bluesy, hard bass sound listen to "Last in Line", "STRAIGHT THRU THE Heart", or "SHAME ON THE NIGHT". Saw this band live in "85. Excellent musicians there's is no weakness in this band,
I feel sorry for people that are growing up listening to what passes as music today. I turned on "Thunderstruck" for my daughter and Bam! She was hooked. I love Dio.
My sister was actually friends with Ronnie and his wife Wendy. He was actually a very nice man. Him and his wife are good people! Was such a sad day when he passed away! Metal just isn’t the same without him.
Seen in concert live several shows, Dio, middle of the show he fights a Dragon 🐲 lazor from his sword and lazor from the Dragon, if they miss explosing, good review from you guys 👌😆✌️🎸🎸🎤🥁
You know when an electric guitar that hits that right chord with the right distortion and you just feel it?? That was Dio's voice, He hit that certain vibe that you feel in your soul.
DIO was my first Concert 😱HEAVY METAL 🤘i was like 10 or 11 years old in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷Cliseo Roberto Clemente San Juan 🐲Tour Name 🐉INTERMISION 🎼after this MUSIC IS the Wepon🎩🎸🤘

One of the best voices in Rock. RIP Ronnie James Dio!
Righto ,Tammy.Long ,Live Rock n Roll.!. See what I did there ?
If I haven't listened to him for some time everytime I get still blown away how powerful his vocals are, you don't hear this much power everyday.

IMO "Heaven and Hell" one of the best written songs
Thats Black Sabbath (just to make it easier for them if they want to react to it). But it is of course Dio on the vocals.
What I have read, this song was penned after his time singing with Rainbow, It's said it was written with Richie Blackmore in mind, He called the time with them "The worst Job he ever had".. The Legend- the king of heavy metal vocalists. You need a live video. Heaven and Hell a good one for that.
