Honestly I don't think Clara's mom is really a bad person, maybe a little rude and insensitive, but I think she means well and just wanted to protect her daughter. Maybe the Aftons can give her a second chance to apologize and also maybe come to terms with everything. I believe that Clara's mom can still be a good person to the Aftons, unlike Oliver.
