George Lucas has said on record that JarJar is his favorite character. He's also said that after fans hated JarJar in the first movie, he had to change JarJar's entire character arc.

Actually, everyone's script except for James Earl Jones' had Vader's big reveal being that Obi-Wan Kenobi killed Anakin Skywalker rather than ol' Dark Helmet as Luke had been told. I don't think JEJ's script said it, cuz he was just in a booth. They might have just told him the real line when it was time to record it. All done in order to keep it secret from the dickhead tabloids. Which is also why the film was called "Blue Harvest" during filming. So as not to advertise "HEY Y'ALL! WE'RE FILMING LITERALLY THE BIGGEST FILM IN CINEMATIC HISTORY OVER HERE! DONT COME LOOK THO PLS! S'PANK YOU VERY MUCH!"
They (ie, George Lucas & the film's writer, and maybe the other main producer besides Lucas) only told Mark Hamill that the REAL line was "No, Luke! _I_ AM YOUR FATHER!" literally *right* before it was time to film & made him sign a mountain of NDA's _and_ personally pinky-swear everyone in the room that he wouldn't tell no one no way no how. And the ONLY reason they did that was because they felt they needed to in order to get the proper reaction. Literally every other cast member (besides James Earl Jones who obv had to actually SAY the line) didn't find out that the line David Prowse delivered was just a decoy until literally the night of the big premiere, when they were watching the fucking movie and they got to that scene, lol!

God as a a Star Wars fan, this question hurts me to my core because no, it was not improv, in fact only Mark and George Lucas knew the reveal, and then so did James Earl Jones when he dubbed the line later in post

actually what happened is they dubbed it over with "no, i am your father" but the actor said "obi wan killed your father"

I heard that they actually recorded over the "I killed your father" line after the scene was shot and everything and didn't tell any of the actors until they saw it in the movie on the night of the premier

I actually saw an interview with Mark Hamil about the "I am your father scene" and he said that he was told the day of the filming, but he was told by one of the higher ups that the only people who knew were Mark Hamil himself, George Lucas, and David Prowse and that "If the press hears about this, we'll know it was YOU." So he had to keep it a secret from Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford for like, a year and a half
Guess Mark is good at keeping secrets!

Your 6th grade Spanish teacher needs to learn Spanish, then. ‘Father’ in Spanish is ‘padre’. The closest language to this translation is Dutch, in which ‘vader’ actually does mean ‘father’, but even there the word for ‘dark’ is ‘donker’. German is also close-ish. In general, in Romance languages the word for father starts with a ‘p’, while in Germanic languages it starts with ‘f’ or ‘v’.

but the original script Was completely rewritten, and during that period in Lucas' life, it was commonplace for his college buddies to come through and heavily critique each others work
Plus it's obvious he winged it ep1-3. Like ep 1 was a rough draft, one night, no rewrites, no questions, and his toadies were scared to speak out to the "artist". It's clear he has no great vision for this work. JChrist he says in the interviews the thing he's most proud of in the original trilogies is the wipes.
Lol. As much as I have problems with the prequel films, they do hold a special place in my heart.
