@Lodethebig well I'm not so sure, I mean their history of botching launches is pretty legendary. But they've said this time they're going after marketshare in the low to midrange and they're also announcing their cards 6 hours before nvidia does, so they must be confident in their products. Happy New Year! Can't wait to see what AMD and NVIDIA is up to this CES. Also Hardware Unboxed and Hardware Canucks have uncovered a massive CPU overhead issue with B580s, if you didn't know already.
Yesterday I attended an RTX50 preheating event in Beijing. On the way, I wanted to ask the staff about the price of the RTX5080, which will be launched this month. He told me that the price is similar to the initial price of the RTX4080, which is equivalent to about RMB 9,000, not the US$1,499 advertised on the Internet.
My bet, Nvidia's gonna be bragging about this neural rendering making everyone using their cards need only half as much vram but real life performance won't be quite as advertised. Neural rendering will basically be what they talked-about before, a way to compress textures super efficiently. Thus making you need less vram in games.

I'm not getting too worked up about prices as those might not even be finalized yet and Nvidia will just do whatever the hell they please, anyway. If you really expected a company with a track-record and market-share like Nvidia's to do you favors in the pricing department, you haven't been paying attention. 2:30 That huge ass gap between the 5090 and 5080 has been pretty obvious ever since the leaks started coming in - and given the width of that gap, I kinda expected them to launch a 5080 Ti as well. @@x3ko777 Nvidia seem to think it... "5070 = 4090 levels of performance!"... lol! Most have been purchased, though some still have not arrived yet, and I still need to decide on a graphics card. Initial thought is the B580, but finding one that's at 250-280 or so bucks has been elusive. Yes, elusive, so far. I have a notification for the Acer variant from Newegg when it is in stock again. Otherwise, I may, may pay a little more and get the A770 as you can still find those from time to time. Scalpers are reselling the B580 on the 'Bay for close to 350-400 or more. Um, no thanks. The PSU is Thermaltake ToughPower GF3 850W, fully modular and the Motherboard is the Gigabyte Aero G creators board, running the Core 7 Ultra. Memory is from Corsair, and their Vengeance line for a total of 64GB. I'm hoping more announcements from Intel on other models for Battlemage and what they are because if there is going to be a B770 or similar, then I'll wait and run the PC off the iGPU (yes, the K variant of the 265) for now and wait until that comes out if there is an announcement from Intel of the sort.
the higher bus width means you get more throughput anyway and probably to save some TDP for the actual clocks of the card instead of throwing it where they dont need it when its already over 1TB/s
I'm excited to see what Radeon is gonna show. I don't expect it to match the 5080 or 5090 but for the price and how they've been effective with their tech, I wouldn't be surprised if Performance is close and half the cost of what Nvidia is gonna ask for their 50 series.
The thing I'm most looking forward to beside AMD's prices is FSR4. Really really really hope they talk about it and confirm it is backwards compatible with RDNA3 and possibly RDNA2. Consumers need a better alternative to Ngreedia's walled garden or BS "selling points".
Midrange GPU's shouldn't make 50 of the midrange PC price. they know we barely have options besides buying their stuff. I really hope Intel will continue doing GPUs and i really hope they catch on some more.
Hi Paul, The big question for you isn't about the CES show but which of your sponsors will be the first to give you a 5090 to review. Commenters, lay your bets down.
Personally more interested in 'reasonably priced' products than halo, it'll be interesting to see what the 9070 has feature wise and how it stacks up in terms of pricing. Wonder if any new trends in case design will emerge, most innovative recently was imo the light base 600, but still essentially a clone of the o11
It leaves room for the 5080 ti super to have more ram and also gives them the ability to release same thing like the 5090D world wide with less ram maybe like the 7900GRE.
Looking at the 5070ti vs the 5080. It's only the difference of like 28 and 30. For the speed of the same memory amount. Would have been better if the 5080 was a 24GB variant at the same speed. Remember how the difference between gpu skus was more different in the past. Like the jump to the 5080 might be more about architecture and how things are processed. We'll see. Looking forward to the show. I'm planning to buy the 5090.
I have a 9950x that I bought at release. An aorus elite ax v2 650 board with pcie 4. A month or two after the 5090, I hope to upgrade to the new Asus 240hz 4k monitors. I'm unsure of whether the 5090 on pcie 4 would drive dual 4k 27" 240hz monitors. Will be interesting to see Gigabyte's CES booth. I've been a Gigabyte customer and fan for years.
I don’t see why they would release the 5080 first. If it was a cut down version of the best die like the 3080 was then I would understand. Maybe they want to get a bigger spike in 80 class sales at launch this gen for people who don’t want to wait for the 5090, but someone who is willing to spend that much money is not going to want to spend it on something so cut down from the top gpu.
This will probably disappear in the comments, however, are you planning on doing an updated build tutorial like you did a year or so ago now that newer things are coming? Or is it not really necessary?
@koek4539 ok msrp was wrong. But the real price isn't out yet. The CHEAPEST 4090 is $2190 right now in sweden. Good luck getting a 5090 for anywhere close to that $1999
@@johanlahti84 VAT in Sweden is 25%, so lowest will be $2500. The reason why 4090's are expensive is because people kept crying about how "the 5090 will be $2500-$3000 MSRP". 4090 produced was stopped so people were panic buying them.

the higher bus width means you get more throughput anyway and probably to save some TDP for the actual clocks of the card instead of throwing it where they dont need it when its already over 1TB/s
It's not in your wheelhouse, but I hope you check out the Aptera booth.
Commenters, lay your bets down.
i'm interested to see new cases from Phanteks and Cooler Master.
Should I get rid of my 6800xt for a 4080 Super or a 5080?
To be honest, I think mini-pc with integrated graphics good enough for gaming are the future!
No. Just No 💀
@@504Trey Alan Wake 2, Stalker 2 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would strongly disagree 🤣
1:08 "CES 2025 takes place every year" you hear alot more when you're just listening and not watching the videos.
I´d really like to see what Phanteks has to offer this year... Maybe, finally, some T30 fans of the 140mm variety?
what a guy ung i followed pc world cause of him he will always be missed
Amd may not have the most powerful GPU but they are affordable to many and has enough V-Ram to allow you a couple years to enjoy it.
It leaves room for the 5080 ti super to have more ram and also gives them the ability to release same thing like the 5090D world wide with less ram maybe like the 7900GRE.
Whoa, I did not know this yet. Rip Gordon.
I've been a Gigabyte customer and fan for years.
all xx80 cards from here on in must have 20gb minimum or its a non-starter.
RIP, Gordon. The community misses you.
safe travels and sad to hear about Gordon.
Hey👋
Does AMD have any 2 in 1 Laptop/Tablets? Or are those no longer a thing?
Hey Paul I live in vegas and there is a newish place to eat called Angie’s lobster roll it great and cheap for lobster rolls !!
im ready to score a 9950x3d and a 5090 32gb+
With the 5080 having half the SM's, CUDA Cores, Memory, and Memory bus, it looks closer to a 70 series card than an 80 series.
@@Rabessey Correct but you know people will buy it and those same people will buy the 5080 super or Ti
This will probably disappear in the comments, however, are you planning on doing an updated build tutorial like you did a year or so ago now that newer things are coming? Or is it not really necessary?
Honestly not upset at this point that I snagged a 4070 ti super at this point. Games I play it’s perfectly fine for them.
Great Video! :D
Would you be looking at Monitors as well?
I'd really appreciate if you guys could swing by the wacom booth to see any new stuff they show.
RIP, Gordon. I remember.
Lastly i would like to thank you for all the tech news
Is the 5090 an mcm design? Is that why it has double the specs of the 5080 i wonder.
Will the 5080 cost half as much as the 5090, considering it is half as powerful as the 5090?
MSRP will be $2499 for the 5090. But the real cost will be $2699. And here in sweden it will be $3100.. this is my guesses haha..
Soooo, that was freaking wrong.. You're not even close lmao.
@@koek4539 VAT is one thing, miljöskatt is another, distribution costs, tariffs are others. Expect a $3.000+ dollar gpu.
