- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman responded to Rahul Gandhi's criticism of the traditional 'halwa' ceremony, held before the Union Budget. Rahul had mocked the ceremony, calling it "budget ka halwa" and pointing out the lack of diversity among the participants, specifically noting the absence of Dalits, OBCs, and Adivasis. Sitharaman addressed Gandhi's jibe during a heated debate in the Lok Sabha on July 29.
