This game was on sale for $7.49 on the e-Shop. I downloaded it. Even though I like physical copies, it was one hell of a bargain.
I liked how you showed the original game down in the bottom corner. It was cool to see how the new game compares. Great video!
Great review, John. I love this game and have played it through several times to unlock all the bonus items and trophies. Planning on picking up the retail disc as well later in the week so I can get the pin. lol I really am a mark for DuckTales.
yeah couldn't agree more. If your going to make a remake, make it either retro in style or if going down the modern route make it look lush and gorgeous with beautiful hand painted graphics. I do appreciate the effort involved with bringing classic games back though. Old games should never be forgotten.

i meant the original nintendo dust sleeves that came with the carts, or dust covers, or whatever you want to call them. regardless, thanks for the response. i suppose if your collecting so hardcore as to keep the dust cover you are probably looking for the boxes too, so you can store the original dust cover in the box collection.

I remember going to Kmart with my mother back in 1989 to get Duck Tales for my birthday, the first stage I played was the moon. Good memories!!

Because he's not doing a comparison of just the music. He's doing a comparison of the sound effects as well... as he had said in the intro.
And while that was made with tongue firmly on the cheek it's also true. And at the same time it makes the cart even more desirable for a collector, which in my opinion is a cool thing.

Awesome Video. I f*ckin love the theme song. I think the Anaheim Ducks should use that as their goal song. Wouldn't that be sick everytime they scored a goal the song would come on.

the ending alone should have been extended it priceless.
This game looks pretty cool, like the original, and so totally glad there is going to be a physical PS3 copy as I don't like downloadable only games. Plus it does not help that quite a lot of downloads don't get made available to the Oz market anyway.

thanks for this review man, really enjoyed it. A question though.....I was/am a huge fan of the original duck tales and also wind waker. What i am confused about is why have nintendo felt the need to remake them when they could spend time and money creating a sequal to duck tales or put the time and effort into the new zelda game? dont get me wrong, its great to see these game so beautifully presented in HD, but makes me think what else they could have done.....
Moon Stage reminds me of COTGW's Echo Screen podcast. Its a nice tune.
The new moon stage music is awesome.

Hey John good job on the vids. I'm not sure if you know but the retail boxed version of this game is not a disc or physical copy. It's actually just a box with a code to go download the game. So it's kind of a physical copy but not actually..
Get both! I would think you can find the original on VC. If not they're very common in the wild. You still have your NES, right?

Man I can't believe I didn't know this was going to be a retail release too. I went and bought it on the store :( Oh well, I'll pay twice, hopefully that means they will bring out Ducktales Remastered 2 :)
Your onto something there! Yes i think thats what irks me, they did the same for ''Worms Revolution'' and i remember not liking it. I do also find the colours more appealing in the NES version aswell, they just look like deeper, more defined textures. Strange. But as i said before, i do think the character models are the best in the remastered version, but everything else goes to the NES. If only they could take them models and drop them in the 8-bit game=perfect! haha
Once you beat the game you can chose to use the 8-bit music in the options menu.

It's his own opinion, he's entitled to say what he thinks is the best & shouldn't be told he's "smoking crack" to think otherwise. Anyone could say the exact same thing to you about the Mega Man sound track.

This is a tough game even on easy - not helped by the ps3 controller, especially at the very end stage! Took me dozens of frustrating attempts before finally beating the game! Achy thumbs...ouch!
just a suggestion: see if there are any audio plugins in ur video DAW to see if you can "dehiss" ur audio.

Yeah i know, movies like total recall and conan didn't need remakes. And with games it's unfortunately true also. I've just bought ducktales on nes. So will play it for the 1st time once i receive it. But yeah looking forward to that more than the remake definitely!!
Yeah you are right. I have always been a Nintendo fan, just worries me that they are so low on new content. Re hashing older games and then re plugging 'newer,' games like mario wii u, luigi u which in my opinion are the same as new super mario bros wii. Just worries me that perhaps Nintendo are running out of ideas.....there is a long time till the next console generation and im half expecting them to release another similar mario wii u game in that time. Can zelda 'save' them again? I hope so
It actually has four difficulties. You unlock Extreme after finishing the game on Hard.
I never got the chance to play the original, maybe I should get this game to check it out.

Well I do feel your sentiment, but remember, companies want the younger generation to buy their games as well and nostalgia is not enough to convince them since, you know, they don't have any nostalgia for a game they've never played before, so a remake is a good way for newer generations to play a game that would otherwise be passed by in virtual markets.
I don't know what it is, but i prefer the 8-bit backgrounds for some reason, and i'm not even nostalgic for the NES version since i've never played it. The character models are better in the new one though. Think i'll buy this off Steam after i've completed the NES version :-)

This game should be left alone as a nes classic, they should make new games in 2D with 16bit graphics instead of trying to milk old games. Infact Nintendo should start production of the Super Nintendo again and make games for it :)

I love classic games, but I hate remakes. Sometimes, the original form is much more superior because of nostalgic reasons.

not a fan of the graphics in the remastered version. Kind of looks like a flash game. Would prefer it having 16bit graphic style. Or similar graphics to the new rayman game
No disk but a lousy pin - give us a disk with copies of the original nes version for I and 2 like they did with the splatter house remaster! Capcom really don't understand game collectors!

It has a great soundtrack, but you're smoking crack if you think it is the greatest on the NES. Any Mega Man game soundtrack is superior.
