As you all know, I recently imported in 633 new glass belly guppies from Asia and unfortunately one of them came with dropsy
Dropsy can be easily spotted (in its later stages). It causes the fish to look bloated, because of a build up of fluid in the fish’s tissues/ body cavity.
I’d usually attempt to treat my fish with dropsy but she was too far gone to save. Her scales were pineconing and she had a hernia (from too much fluid inside her) so I euthanized her with clove oil.
I’m thinking this glass belly guppy got dropsy from a bacterial infection while being shipped, which affected her immunity and caused kidney failure. She was the only import with dropsy so I’d consider this a good ratio 😌

I had one of those ikea day beds with the drawers underneath and two of them were FULL of plushies and I’d leave them open (like, all the time, or at least certain times like when I was asleep or during the day idk it was years ago) so they get fresh air and walk around if they wanted to…

My cat also had that… Sadly I was treating him with antibiotics to cure another illness he had and didn’t realise his kidneys couldn’t bare the medicine… I’m convinced to this day I gave him the antibiotic shot which led him to death…

To people saying it's wrong to euthanize a sick fish: as someone whose family owned few aquariums and many fish, these things just happen once in a while. Fish are finicky and somewhat unpredictable in their healthcare. And in many such cases, there is no way to cure the fish, so killing them is the best option to shorten their pain. We even had one case when the mouth of one fish deteriorated to the point it wasn't able to eat anymore. The only thing you can do in such a situation is to euthanize them.

@@theriseoftonyBeing deathly ill and/or close to death does not equal ≠ being sick. There are layers to being sick and if your pets quality of life is so bad that it can’t live or do anything, then it might be more compassionate to put it to rest.

It hurts us greatly to do, but sometimes it's for the best so our pals don't have to suffer anymore. If you're willing to let your pet suffer and be in pain constantly just so you don't have to go through the pain of losing them, then you're the sick fuck here. That's just plain selfish.
@@theriseoftonythere’s a difference between euthanizing a pet that cannot be cured vs euthanizing a pet that can be cured. If you watch her video she said that the symptom developed too rapidly and she couldnt do anything about it. There’s a big difference between euthanizing a dog with ringworm vs euthanizing a dog with late stage kidney failure. Ringworm is easily curable and the dog can go back to a good quality of life after treatment while kidney failure in dogs is irreversible and painful which is why most vets recommend euthanasia.
At least she's not in pain anymore.
If it works in fish like it does in humans, it doesn't actually hurt (the fluid build-up in the body cavity). I had it bad while I was dying of liver failure, and it was just kind of inconvenient. Doctors drained it with a spigot stuck in my gut every couple of weeks and I'd lose a dozen or so pounds.

this happened to my first betta. i absolutely loved her so much and cried so much when i knew there was nothing i could do for her. i felt horrible keeping her in her condition because i didn’t know i could put her down but she passed and i wish i also buried her. i cried for a couple days from her passing. she was so sweet.

@@lizard_girl_ it's a late stage sign of dropsy which is due to kidney failure in fish (as said in the video). I don't think I've ever seen a fish come back from that stage of it before. luckily none of my fish have experienced it though.

It’s really hard I know my cat got very sick when I was around 8 and my mom brought my cat to the vet for the 292938838338 time and my dad was in the phone a lot this was on new years and my mom couldn’t come then my dad told me that the vet is gonna out him down and I cried the whole night and it ruined my new years but I’m happy he didn’t have to suffer

Sorry for your loss, about a year or less ago my senior (atleast I think he was decently old) cat got very sick too and we had to put him down, I still cry when I even think about him. I hope your healing fine love, and your kitty is sleeping in a peaceful comfy place ❤️💖
